Hi Warren - the reason you didn't spot it is because it's hidden behind the link titled 'German visitors only' followed by one of those cryptic German tapeworm words: 'Sammlungsauflösung' - the reasoning behind it is probably down to the extortionate charges for international deliveries levied by the German postal service - I asked him nicely to make an exception and because he managed to cram everything into the Tamiya box, it 'only' cost me 8.50 Euro to the UK! Generally you're looking at twice that when you order stuff from the Vaterland

My KV-1 is finnished! I saw a similar KV with a similar stripe on the top so I went with it. Hope you like.

Here is the current condition of one of my KV tanks. I am working on three riders for it and possibly a commander. Still some way to go before it is finished.

Slow with steady progress. The second SU-152 has had all pertinent grab rails attached. Except for the hatches and the affixing of the rear hull plates, all kit parts are attached. Here's how the KV based cousins stand.





An acquaintance at our local club presented me with some spare Russian decals that he had. Now I'll be looking at pictures to see what more I can add to differentiate the brothers.

Hi all KV fans!
Finally got started with my project. Oh boy, I´m late, hopefully this don´t end up into another "Get the job done finally" project..
Anyways, I´m building Trumpeter KV-1E (00357) kit as a Ekhrany variant with turret only Ekhrany, following Neil Stoke´s instructions on his 4bogreen-website. Side armorplates are scratch from styrene. Next is time for Eduard PE set and Friul-tracks.

This is probably a re box of another companys kit. However I am pleasantly surprised with the lack of flash, the number of parts and the detail is not too bad either

@ Jan: that is unfair, those beasts would kill just about any tank today.

@ Darren: are those rubber band treads, and if so what was your technique in giving them the rust look?

@ DIERK: I like the tow cable ( I have a thing for tow cables ) and the one tarp or bedding with the strap has a certain thing about it.

@ Kimmo: this view of the turret gives me an impression of how massive the bolts were.

@ Keith: nice find on the kits and at a good price. I found a Revell M4 Calliope last year for $16 USD and it is a pretty good kit also which I am building for the Sherman campaign minus the rockets.

Keith, I would suggest that it is a re-boxing of the Zvezda kit.

Revell like reboxing, as does Tamiya at the moment, witness the Skoda 35(t) tank, originally a CMK kit, and their various Italian tanks which are all Italeri re-boxings.

Bob the tracks are link and length and all I have done is paint them with Tamiya NATO black then dry brushed the raised detail. The detail inside the track runs was done using a pencil, I finally I applied spots of AK interactive rust streaks which is translucent, and that is it.

Yes, I would agree that it is probably a Zvezda kit rebox.

The more I do the more I sense Zvezda.

However it was so cheap I guess you get what you pay for, and it isn't that bad.

Will build it out of the box (the plan at this stage)and see how it ends up!

Here is the first of my KV1's that is finished as regards the campaign but will be going into a small diorama, which I may or may not get done for this campaign. these pictures are followed by the current state of my Finnish KV1 which I hope to have finished before the campaign finishes.

Darren - Very nice job on your first KV. As it's finished as far as this campaign is concerned there isn't much more to add. I always like seeing some "home-made" touches on a model as you are doing to he Finnish KV.

My pair of KV-14 (SU-152) have had modest progress. I have been poring over dozens of wartime pictures looking to individualize the two beasts. I found an interesting pictures of one that had a large drum in lieu of the standard extra fuel tanks. I have used it as a subject for one.

I used a drum from an old ESCI Field Equipment Set and scratched the mounting on the fender for it. For the opposite side I scratched up a tool bin and added some pieces from the spares box. All the grab rails are on the second SU and I am debating on how to individualize it.

Thank you Jan I will be adding a little something and will upload a picture, I believe it will look better when its on its base and I can finish the weathering. The Finnish KV is the reason I have stopped the other KV1 as there is a fair amount of scratchwork to do. Something that surprized me was that the AM set for the Finnish KV from ABER is not complete and misses items from the set that without the pictures that Kimmo gave me a llink to I would never know about. If I had paid the price ABER wants for that set I would have been less than happy.

Here is where I am at with the Finnish KV1. I would really like Kimmo to junp in and shout if anything looks out of place.

You give me lot of pressure. Although I´m finnish, finnish KV-1E is not my speciality. What I can say, fenders and engine deck look good enough, if you don´t want to suffer AMS with this. Here´s a link to finnish KV-1E, made out of old Tamiya kit. The only I found from finnish modelingsite:

You can make notes comparing it with your kit but note, that it´s missing that finnish headlight. The one you can find in Zvezda´s T-26. Otherwise it´s looking good.

The one you have linked to Kimmo is missing a lot of detail. It is missing the 4 lifting rings on the turret, there should be four hand rails on the turret roof (the two that are there are incorrect, it has the wrong intakes on it, there should be a lifting handle on both of the enging deck access hatches, the track guards are too short as it is the kit part that has been modified, and as you have said the headlight is missing. I do like the paint job that has been done on this build though.

I have cheated on the headlight shroud for mine as I have made it from Milliput which is solid, but as the headlight will be in the down position this will not show.

Greetings fellow KVers. Modest but at least some progress with at least one of my builds. I'm still toying with what else to add...tow cable...tarps?? I've done some pre-shading on the first and stated the same on the second.





I also explored various options about what to do about the rather plain outer tracks. At present the best I can come up with is to muddy them up.

The Finnish KV is coming along after a coat of paint, Please forgive any weakspots on the painting as I had to do it by hand. If I have missed anything please shout.

A little progress on my KV-1 model 40. Construction is almost done. A few details still needs to be added.

This is the Zvezda 1/35 kit. I must say I am impressed by the vast improvement compared to some of Zvezda's earlier kits which required a lot to get to a nice standard. This kit is well detailed, goes together without any problems, has nice basic interior detail, and a basic engine.
Not bad - especially considering the cheap price tag.

I am planning to include it in a diorama where it has crashed through a building and had a mechanical breakdown. Therefore all the open hatches.
