Thanks for the info, Jason. It is just what I needed. Glad to see at least some of the M1A1s have been repainted. No need for artistic license from my end regarding the camouflage.
Carmen really sets the bar high!! He did an absolutely fantastic job!! I will not reach his levels, but I will still try to make a M1A1 that looks like the Australian M1A1 although the minor details on the engine deck do not need to be changed on my kit for me to be satisfied. However, the coolers are a major change and very visible so these will have to be added or scratchbuild.
I will probably use the Tamiya M1A1 or the Trumpeter 5 in 1 M1A1 kit as I have both kits in my stash.
I do not know yet if it is possible to make a fair representation of the Australian M1A1 from the Trumpeter kit using the conversion set and some decals. Any thoughts on this?
Thanks again for the info.

The Tasca Firefly Vc comes with kiwi markings if you're interested.
Bison Decals also do a good line in Kiwi Markings - Available on line, a search should find them.

Mate
I am out at Rolleston. Canterbury just had another win.
Just to let you know, ANZAC is getting bigger with the young now and they are pretty well versed in its meaning. I have seen numbers at some smaller locations go from 50 or so to about 200-300 in just the last couple of years.

I just picked up the Miniart Valentine Mk III, so I should be good for this campaign. If any of you guys have any more pictures of the kiwi Valentine that's being restored they would be of great help to me for this build.
I'm all for the ANZAC date. Being a Yank I don't really know anything about it, but it's good to hear that awareness is increasing in the younger generations over there. It's a shame to have important parts of one's history forgotten.
I just heard about an earthquake that hit NZ, particularly Christchurch. Hope none of you mates or your loved ones were there when it happened. If you were, then my prayers go to you

New Zealand currently has no heavy armour ( or an airforce, thank you Labour Government ). We use the LAV III.
We used the Firefly in Italy in WWII. Aussie bought their boys home to fight in the Pacific which is why they never got the Firefly. In WWII we used pretty much whatever the British were using. The initial LRDG were made up heavily of Kiwis so there were a lot of LRDG trucks with Kiwi monickers.
Whenever I think of auscam I always think of the jellybean BDUs.
We have the LAV and armoured Pinny. LRP was made up of Kiwi OR's and Brit Officers which lead to the LRDG with, at first the same makeup.

No problem mate.
Now as for your build, I can not comment on either kit in detail, but I do believe that both the Tamyia and Trumpeter kits are missing at least major 3 things from the their kits that need to be on the Aussie one. This is one of the main reasons I went with the Dragon Kit. So I can not say accurately if my conversion will fit either kit. As for decals, Echelon make a fanatic set designed for the Australian M1.
Cheers Jason

You are too kind Jesper! I have another Aussie Abrams in the project pile but I'm waiting to see how the final markings look for the tri-colored Abrams, and if Echelon will do a set since some of the markings are in different colors. I also have an ASLAV-25 ready to go, a Bushmaster on order, and potentially an M88 Hercules waiting in the wings, and an Leo AS1.
This campaign does not start up until April 2011?? I've got loads of time to get ready for this one then! Cheers!

I think Huey's may have been contagious, it seems like everybody was getting them even if they weren't supposed to

yeah there great choppers. I'm thinking of doing a diorama with a centurion, M113 and a Huey I know that its an vehicle campaign but I could do with a challenge I will more than likely put the Huey in American markings do in a low pass.

Thomo: You mean literally the same frames from the 60's?
David: That sounds nice, I think it'd make a great addition to the campaign.
