Greetings all, time to start and the choices are
The White Scout Car is a definite starter as one uded in New Zealand by the Mounted Rifles Regiments. As for the others we will have to wait and see, time, work and SWMBO permitting
Sal, sorry I can't help with the conversion of the Itaeri paint, but a couple of links that may be of help:
Australian Armour in Japan 1946 to 1950
and
The Staghound Armoured Car in Australian Service

Thanks Gary.
Well were off gang, looks like some interesting builds happening I am looking forward to seeing how you all progress. My build is going to be a bit delayed as money is tight at the moment! I am going to build an AS-LAV with the legends update set and tie it with my JGSDF type 96 I am building for the armoured wheeled vehicle campaign, and put them into a diorama of there operations in Iraq.

Hi Dave, thanks for the links some pretty cool photos there
I was able to find out, thanks to Google, that ITa MM-1713, is Model Masters 4734 and that the Tamyia equivalent is XF-58, but thanks anyway

@ Dave : I like that M3 Honey.
@ Sal : I see that you have broken the ice with that Staghound.
I had nothing to do yesterday so I broke out the Tamiya M3 Grant and with glue, knife, sprue cutters, brush, file and some Tamiya Surface Primer did this. Then remembered that I had no idea regarding Aussie units using this afv. Could any one give me a little help with any markings please?

G'day! Some nice looking builds started already.
Bob: Heres some links in my bookmarks collection for Aussie Grants.
http://www.awm.gov.au/search/collections/?q=M3+Grant&conflict=all
http://anzacsteel.hobbyvista.com/Armoured%20Vehicles/m3ph_1.htm
http://www.militarymodelling.com/news/article.asp?a=3954
Will be lots of info for you in them! The first ones the Australian War memorial website, heaps of photos in there if you search through.
Sal: Don't know if your sorted for staghound markings yet but the first 2 websites above will also be helpful for info if you need it.
I'l be doing some Braille scale builds, 3 or 4 time permitting!
Here's the first. Will be a Willy's jeep and trailer of the Australian 9th Division in the Pacific.
Second build will be a Vickers VIb light tank of the 9th Divisional Cavalry in North Africa.
And a New Zealand 2nd Division Universal carrier in North Africa.
Cheers,
Tim

G'day Sal,
I don't know if you are aware, but all of the Staghounds had this bin attached to the rear of the turret.
Staghound Turret Bin
Mouse House have it in-stock along with the corrected antenna mounds.
MA130 Staghound turret stowage box and aerial mounts
Cheers Jason.
PS The decals in the Italeri are also not quite correct either.

Jason, thanks for the heads up on the turret storage bin I will have to check the spare parts box to see if i can come up with something. What is the issue with the decals there is a correction decal sheet included with the kit I have:-?

G'day Sal,
The problems with the decals are as follows, the BCOF Formation decal should be light green and not red, and should be on the left side fender. The vehicle ARN should be in the centre of the glacier plate as per this link.
Australian Armour in Japan 1946 to 1950
Cheers Jason

got a bit done, this kit is without a doubt the worst ive seen, the instruction are in russian and the sprues dont even have letters or numbers to tell you which one the bits ya want are on.
the numbering system is all screwed up when you build the axles they are back to front when ya get to the next step
unless you know a little about the vehicle it would be a nightmare, plus theres flash all over the parts and clean up takes a while when ya find the right bits.
cheers,
Graham

Same here. This will be the first time I have seen the competitions ASLAV kit built.
By the way David, you have the rear hatches upside down mate and the hatch lock on the front of the hull is upside down as well.
Cheers Jason
