gday Reb, na mate just the old stiff brush with pigments an water then dusted off a little after its dry.
most of the chips will be using bits of sponge and a brush then i'll give the whole thing a light coat of tan to tone it down and make it look dusty.
cheer,
Graham

well guys about 5 months later she's finished , didnt do too much damage or chipping since these beasties didnt last that long so its just dirty and a few rusty bits kind of.
hope ya all like it, all in all the kit isnt bad even with its problem accuracy wise i think it looks good once its done.
to give you an idea how big this thing is heres a pic with its 35th little brother lol.
thanks for the great campaign Bas its been a blast.
cheers,
Graham

Graham,
That KT looks great I like the not so over done weathering look as well. My only question is was the tow cables and tools painted in the camo as well
Still great job

thanks guys, yeh Sal Bas is right they sprayed over everything and only sometimes took the tools off like if they were using them or they got painted as well, i decided not to paint the tools just to break up the camo a little.
Bas from what ive seen of your tiger its looking great so far, ive still got more kt's in the stash but i might be out of action for a while with work an all but try to keep a watch and see what everyone is up too tigers an kingtigers are by far my favorite.
cheers,
Graham

Nice to see the KT finished Graham, good job!
well, finished my Afrika Tiger before painting: I added a muzzle break cover made by Tank Workshop.
She won me silver this weekend in the category Naked Kit at Model Force '11 Belgium (my other naked kit, a JP won gold, and my other painted Tiger I won silver ^^)
Cheers

Hi Graham.
Regarding the tow cables, you may be right about them not lasting very long, BUT the tow cables should have been covered in grease etc from the start to stop them corroding. How the paint would have stuck to them I don't know, but in my experience with those sorts of cables nothing, except grease, dust and dirt stick to them.
But it is your model and it is your call on how to finish her. I myself found that the ones used in the Ardennes (Battle Of The Bulge) had hard edged camo, which suggests brush painting, and most of them where missing their tools and cables, probably looted off them at some stage.

gday Warren yeh the paint dont stick too long lol i have accually painted things like that in real life and while it does stick it dont take much to knock it off.
the hard edge from what ive seen seems to be more on the production turret than the porshce but i may be wrong.
i like the way yours came out it looks great, i think i'll do the other big KT i have that way from the ardennes i like that camo, and your right i have seen photos somewhere of them using almost a broom to paint em in the field which would naturally give more a hard edge.
maybe it just depended on what they had to hand at the time.
i might have a play and make the cables look more grease like with specs of remaining paint on them.
cheers,
Graham

it's quite strange you guys mention the brushes for the hard edge camo though. From what I've read in several books (amongst them Waldemar Trojca's extensive Königstiger book), the hard edge camo came fresh from the factory.
And personally it seems rather strange that they would use brushes. Field applied camos were applied with airbrushes so brushpainting a KT would be quite timeconsuming...something they didn't really have much of those last months
several books state that the hard edge camo was done in factory with airbrushes and templates (like we use masks to do a hard edge camo). Also, some factories had their own style of hard edge like seen on several Panthers coming out of the Benz and MAN factories...
Cheers

Nice work everyone - been lurking.
Well I tried the Vallejo liquid mask as a last second decision before spraying, and I think that stuff sucks. Too tacky and hard to get off. It was hard to see the yellow masking fluid on the dark yellow base so I got too many crazy lines. I think I'll try to make the brown stripes larger by combining them, otherwise it'll be going back to the spray booth and give it a second redo freehand with the airbrush. Any suggestions welcome

I have just started to build a Sturmtiger for the Tiger Campaign. It is 1/48 AFV Club that I have never built a 48 scale tanks. The first one is for this campaign.

Very nice build, Jose. Great job on the camouflage. I think you could add a thin wash for the skin areas to bring our the facial expressions.
Also for your next diorama remember to press the model a little into the ground as the Elefant sits on top of the ground. Normally it would sink down due to the weight.
Overall a very nice diorama that captures the feel of a forward provisioning area very well. Thanks for sharing
Greg, great to let us know about the Vallejo liquid mask. Does not seem to be a gift for modellers.

Thank you Jesper for your recomendation, i will do it next time, the thin wash certainly i dont know how to do it, i have read it in the web but is not clear for me, also i want to try with trees and bush in my next diorama, its hard but funny, and in the end i like to see my model and feel some life in it, thank you again.

yo gang!
we are moving to arizona come june 12th. so my spousal unit wants me to pack up everything model wise for our move. so i am on hold for about a month or so. as for a packing tip, tho ya probably know it, i am useing shoeboxes for completed models, with shredded paper from juink mail and other stuff for each model. one model per shoebox, and then shoeboxs into a packing box.
great camo pics and ideas there gang!
regards,
reb

I am building Tiger 123 Initial for this campaign
The back plate is slightly warped and I did not notice it until I tried to fit the upper hull. The radiator boxes do not extend far enough to the rear to give something to glue to so I made some shims between the back plate and the rad boxes but I couldn't get the CA glue to hold (its possible its too old as it was very thick). I waved a lighter by it a couple times to try and warm it up but I chickened out before I did any damage. If anyone has any ideas I'd love to hear them.
