Hey, guys,
I took longer then I expected to do a new post, so I've already finished the lower hull interior.
First I decided to correct the air cleaners shape (too shallow) by adding an extension of 2 mm made of 10mm tube. Because of that I also cut down the engine supports to avoid interference with the engine covers.
This is the final result (sorry, I didn't took pictures during the assembly process)
The lower hull interior is finished as you can see below:
Now I'll start the lower hull exterior.
Regards,

Hello all, my contribution to this campaign will be Revell's Tiger H in 1/72 scale.
I am also using Part's pe set for this kit and a a replacement aluminum barrel from RB.
I started by removing all the molded tools from the chassis.
I subsituted them with PE or scratchbuilt. I also rounded some really fine copper wire around the tubes of the Feifel air cleaner system to give them a more flex look.
I replaced the cap of the exhausts with the PE and put the exhaust cover, I think I'll leave the other one without the cover.
That's all for now, more later.
P.A.

Since I'm currently building alot of JagdTigers (6 to be exact) I thought I might aswell join this campaign
I''ll be updating with text and alot of pictures on my personal kitbuilding Blog, but I'll make sure to post a few teaser pictures and updates here whenever I get the time to actually progress on the tanks.
I must admit I don't have alot of pictures of the actual assembly process, but some can be found here, here and here. I currently have 3 Trumpeter Henchel JagdTigers and 3 Dragon Porsche JagdTigers (Which are the ones I'm currently painting).
I build the Dragon kits straight out of the box and basicly the same with the Trumpeter ones except they got some PE Fenders from E.T. Model which ended up looking rather promising, I still got a set I haven't applied and not sure I'm going to.
I'm giving it my first try on the Colour Modualtion Technique which is why I'm currently only progressing on one at the moment, just to get an idea of the outcome before I go all in with the rest. I'm not sure how I'm going to deal with the molded on zimmerit on the Trumpeter JagdTigers but I might just choose to paint them in my normal way, but honestly that is a problem for another time.
Here is a picture of the current state of my test subject on the right and one of its brothers on the left.
Alot more pictures can be seen Here
I try to update as often as possible, but might not have the time to get any work done for a few days.
Hope you like it so far
Comments are more than welcome.

Hi Alex ... great start on you tiny tiger...The PE looks great ...One thing I noticed is that if you are doing one of the early tigers from the African campaign , you need to change the exhaust a bit ...They didn't have the flat cover over .It was it was just a cap over the hole ...
I'm not sure if I explained that right so here's a picture ...
hope this helps

Hi all,
Well I finished my Tiger II. It tried to depict it as a tank that has survied for a while and has just had the barrel replaced but not the side skirts. I also wanted to depict it in the snow.
I have some figures left to paint put the Tiger is finished

Thanks for the comments guys, glad you like it
The figures should be interesting, not my strong point and my first time painting resin figures. Any tips for priming them? or just paint straight on?
The base still needs work to tidy it up and add some more detail.
Im kinda getting side tracked with my 1/16 trumpy KT. I finished off the turret interior and i'm almost ready to paint the exterior. Just a few more details to sort out.
Must sort out my attention span issues!
Cheers

Some great work happening here guys outstanding all around
Just thought I would let you all know that this campaign has gotten me bitten by the Tiger, built 1 for the Desert fox Campaign, bought a KT a few months ago and now I just picked up a Early 1 for the Blitz 4 Campaign. Think there is any way I can get by with 1 for the Light Tank Campaign

Matt - Big brother KT is looking swell as well. For the 1/48 figures - I try to get by with just a base color and drybrush a highlight and/or weathering color. The eyes I dip a toothpick in black. Then, I go back and touch up any eye blob with the base flesh color. I stick to Vallejo paint. I believe in 1/35 you use 5 layers between highlight & shadows, but 1/48 you do 3 layers according to Shep Paine. I do 2 layers with my eye-hand coordination

Richard, thanks for the tip, maybe I'll come back later and rework it.
Fantastic builds going on here, it makes sence as the Tiger is a favorite subject.
Just a small progress

Hi gang,
I've been below the radar since joining, but I'm now ready to pony up my own build. I had an ancient Minicraft Porsche-turreted KT in the stash since forever (well, I did get it new 30+ years ago!) and originally planned to hide it under some Cavalier resin zimm. However, when Darren Baker posted his walk-around of the Bovington tank I just knew that was what I wanted to build! Sadly I had already started on the turret, so now the necessary surgery will be more complicated...
Here's the kit:
I think the hull came from Tamiya's KT while Minicraft added the turret. The tracks are rubbish, so I'll add some Hobby Boss ones that conveniently come with the necessary extra sprocket teeth. The one area that may call for more AM stuff is the gun - the muzzle brake is a blob and the barrel is warped. I'm trying to avoid big expenses as otherwise I might as well just get a DML kit.
This is the beast as photographed by me in 1996:
Wish me luck!

I began my Tiger build today.
I'm using the venerable Tamiya KT, Eduard zim, and a aluminum barrel of unknown origin. I also procured Tamiya's own indy link tracks for this one.
Yes, I know another SS SpzAbt 502 kitty kat. Trouble is I really really like the looks of those monsters with the charging knight on the turret.

I accomplished quite a bit over the last couple of days.
Zimm is mostly on.
Test fitting revealed some difficulties with the glacis and the lower hull. Glacis zimm will be applied after I rectify that issue.

Wayne - the only part of the Edouard zim that didn't work for me was the hull MG. Should be a fun build

It's a fun kit for sure. Typical Tamiya, and if you're like me, the innaccuracy of small details isn't a bother.
Sal I looked and looked at the zimm issue, then wussed out and bought the Eduard set. LOL! gator Grip glue and clamps made it fairly easy.
Greg, I have never seen anyone do a good job on that MG ball with PE zimm. I planned on putty from the start.
BTW the fit issue was in my head. When I test fit the hulls there was no gap. Soooo, all the zimm is now applied.

It's been a while since I posted an update ...well have got much done so that explains a lot but here are a few pictures to show that things are moving slowly ahead...
Got the hull together which took a bit of work to get everything lined up straight but in the end it was all good ...
Since I am building one of Das Reich's first tigers (S13) I had to change the rear part of the engine deck for one from Tamiya's Initial kit and used the front plate with the two holes over the drivers visor..
I painted the interior of the turret but will only be seen through the hatches and those should have two figures in them so not much if anything will be seen ,but I know it's painted...
I also added some PE bolts to the rear hull where the exhaust shields should go because all pictures I've seen of DR tigers at Kursk don't have the shields in place.
well that's it for me ..sorry for the bad pictures I had to use my wife's camera cause mine is on the fritz!

I've been lurking and watching the builds here while I finished off something for a friend. Now I'm ready to join the party with my own Tiger II. I took a shot at an early production vehicle about a year ago using DML 6312 but got hung up on the Eduard PE zimmerit. This time I'll be using DML 6302 (pre-zimmed) with a few extra items thrown in:
For those who have Jentz & Doyle's VK45.02 to Tiger II, I'm going to try to model the vehicle shown on pages 80-81 (Fgst.Nr. 280031), which I understand belonged to 1/s.Pz.Abt. 503 and carried turret number 133. The photos in VK45.02 to Tiger II identify most of the key production features, but when in doubt I'll use the vehicle's production date (May 1944) as my guide.

Hi guys! Well I'm late to the game, but after finishing my build for the Korean War Campaign I'm ready to jump on my Tiger. I'm going to build the DML Jagdtiger; Kit No. 6351.
I plan on building it OOTB using one of the marking options provided with the kit for vehicle 314 of Pz.Jg. Abt. 653. From the research I've done so far it appears there were 11 Jagdtigers built on the so called "Porsche suspension" and of these only vehicle 314 was without zimmerit. There are several pictures that substantiate this including the one I've posted.
I hope to be able to start some construction this week.
