Hi Guys,
Some very nice builds going on since I last visited. There seems to be a small bug for pz.abt 505 tigers at the moment, which I also seem to have! Wayne your tiger II looks great. Nice work on the pe zim and the camo. Also some great reference pics posted.
Anyone happen to know when these photos were taken? I ask as I have seen many threads about the camo of pz abt 505. These are quite clearly 2 tone but there are pictures showing 3 tone on these tiger II, mainly the 1st company. So maybe they were originally 2 tone but then changed to 3 tone?
Anyway, its been a while since I posted an update on my trumpy KT here so here it is.
I went with 3 tone for mine as it is a 1st company tank.

Matt that's gorgeous!
If you look at the two photos I posted of the 1st Company tank in the field, you can see three different colors. Look at the right front shot and study the right front fender. I see green and brown.
When I look at 213, I only make out yellow and brown.
That makes you correct sir!
Your thoughts?
Observations anyone?

Wayne, now that you bring it up 213 looks like a three tone job to me. In the picture you posted look at the rear of the turret side. There looks to be one shade running along the unit insignia, and another shade/color running up the rear edge of the turret side. If that's not a clear explanation I apologize, I'll try to upload a picture with what I'm talking about marked.

Wayne, Here is your picture of 213 with my take on the cammo colors marked. I don't know which is which, but I think red brown and green over a base of dark yellow.

Goodness that looks right too.......................
I surmised that 213 was painted yellow then some red/brown camo was applied. To me it seems she was painted again, which I deduced as additional red brown. Now that you've pointed the differences out I'm thinking the add on cammo could have been green.
Truth is we will debate this until we're crosseyed!
Further input folks?

Hi wayne ..sure looks to be three colors in those pictures...I've always thought they were redbrown over yellow but you got me thinking..Just remember that in most black and white pictures the redbrown comes out darker most of the time.

Ok thanks to 100+ temps I've had all day to stay inside and work on 213.
Ok Richard then I should transpose my brown and green icons then?

Well considering this ones 99.9% finished, I guess I'll rethink the next one.
Seriously, I have DML's Ardennes Tiger II in the stash awaiting it's turn.
Thanks Sal, I'm calling it complete. I'll post finished pics tomorrow.

I agree with Sal, It looks great as it is. You have done a very nice job on that one. Really like the colours you used.
Personally i'm useless at identifiying colours from b&w photos. If I hadn't have found those threads about the 3 tone camo I also would have done 2 tone.
Look forward to seeing it finished

Hi,
I have to say there are a lot of really nice King Tigers here, they are all looking really neat.
I have made some progress with my Elephant, the PE is taking longer than I anticipated and there is still a load more to add. I have been concentrating on the fenders and have done a little log of the one fender support. There is still more to add, but it will be all done soon...hopefully.
The log of the fender support..
1) The detached pieces.
2) The first folds.
3) The ancillary pieces added.
4) The pieces fitted to the fender.
The completed fender assemblies for one side.
Well that's it for now, I hope to get the other side done this week and then it's onto the superstructure.
All the best,
Paul

Thanks Bas,
It is a fine sort of madness, all those little bits. I usually do a kit OOB after one of these, to regain my sanity.

Hi Jesse
That is true, but the PE is usually limited to number plates or simple bits to 'enhance' the model (no doubt to add a few £ or $ to the cost as well). I have a nice little model by IBG of a Polski Fiat field car that has no PE and is superbly detailed, I will probably relax with that....I have never done a Polish vehicle before.
All the best,
Paul

Lots of fantastic builds underway here. Rodolfo, that Tiger looks like a great challenge. I've never used Lion Marc tracks before, so I'll be interested to see how they go. I checked in a while ago with my Tiger II from s.Pz.Abt. 503 but haven't posted any progress photos yet. Here's a left and right side view. I've made a couple dumb mistakes so far, but I'm happy overall with how it's going.

Great Job everybody... I just found out this particular campaign and it happens that I bought a TIGER-1 and started to work on it this weekend
Its there any chance I can join in or is it closed?
Since this Tiger is my comeback after years of no modeling its going to take a while and I´m pretty sure its going to look a bit bad nonetheless I would like to join in this campaign if you let me.
Well, see you all around.
best regards
