Jesse: nice pose on the figure. Are you planning to have a few more up on the roof scouting out the area ahead?

i thought i had a good one lined up. but then realized the uniform wouldnt match anything else. so, it would look completely out of place and i dont have anything else that would match. plus, i dont really want to overcrowd things with too many figures.

Small update on my factory wall, I,ve added the roof buy using tin foil shaped over some skewer sticks cut down and glued to a scrap piece of plastic card. Also made a wall lamp from copper rod tin foil cover and a LED bulb from an old circuit board added some rubble and bricks to the base where the wall has been hit. Also have done washes and pigments to the storage tank

Still need to make up some wood pallets and find some kind of machinery stuff to have lying around maybe some tractor parts

Jesse: I hear you on the figures. Maybe just some "roof junk" then to keep the space from being too empty.

Keith: Looking good. I really like how the tank turned out.

It has begun:

There will be a Dragon Pak-40 in the lower part of the house (build started) and some infantry in the upper floor.

MBR: coming together well.

I have begun my building for my Iraqi street diorama.

Still have a bit more to do with the foam core, then I'll start with the chipboard and cork.

Thanks Sal the snow is from a model railway store it is from a company called Modelseinics they also do some other stuff you can use in Dio making, like grass scater and trees and water gels. There is also another company called Delux Materials that do a graet range of stuff for dioramas

Hi all,

MBR: Good start, what’s that diorama in the corner?
Zon: Great layout, may I ask what material your using?
Keith: Nice work, what sign are you thinking of putting?

That is MiniArts "Village Workshop". In this case it is occupied by a field kitchen brewing and will also show the horses being led to graze. I'll see if I have some shots. I had the field kitchen build and then "sitting around" and wanted to try one of the "Diorama in a box" kits.

Keith: your dio has come out really well! A great backdrop for your T-34. Nice. I wasn't expecting a winter scene, so that is also a nice surprise.

Sal: Thanks for the comments.

Vlad: I used Foam Core, which is a layer of foam sandwiched between two paper faces. Here they sell it at Wal-Mart as a type of poster board. It should also be available in art/architecture supply shops and possibly picture framing shops. I printed the building layout on paper and used spray adhesive to glue it onto one side of the foam core, then cut out the pieces. Change your blades often as the foam/paper combination dulls blades quickly. I will glue it together with white glue (PVA) Also the foam can dissolve if exposed to some spray paints and paint solvents. Acrylics are safe to use. HTH.

Thanks for the comments Guys
Do any of you have a suggestion as to what sign I could use for the wall say something like a factory sign that says " engine block" or similar.
MBR how did you find the build up of the wall and shed I have the farmhouse set with that wall to like the paint and whaether job you have caught on it
Cheers Keith

I have played around with a number of highly diluted acrilic paints.

+ Base is Tamiya "Dunkelgelb", thinned with Tamiya X20A at least 1:3 and applied in two coats

+ Over that I applied a glazing of Vallejo "German Green" (at least 1:10)

+ Roof is done in Vallejo "Red", some schindles picked out with the base color either lightened with Vallejo "Khaki" or darkened with Vallejo "German Grey" (The color used on the kitchen etc). Same for the bricks

+ Bricks got the same glazing as the walls

+ Grass was painted with a green tone. After that covered with white glue (Holzleim) and "gras" for railroad modelling. Over that some "Future"

+ Walls, roof and bricks got a final glazing of 1:10 diluted "German Grey", carefully "scrubbed down" to remain mostly in the cracks.

Stared to scratch a small section of the second tier roof out of balsa wood and scrap plastic from the Mini-Art kitPhotobucket
I don't what to big of a roof cause there will be figures on the inside. Hopefully I'll get some more done tomorrow

Aloha All:

Got Cork! Next will be to fill in the grout joints with wall spackle then get to some of the inner surfaces and the balcony before putting the structure together. I've ordered the stock for the windows and doors.
