As well as the dust what about adding some posters to the walls or above the door or even giving the brick wall a faded paint job from floor to halfway up.

or alternatively if you have any old bricks and concrete in your garden or like me have a cellar either break up the bricks and concrete or use a paint brush and sweep cellar floor and use as bust. and then spray the area you want to do with hair spray and sprinkle on then use larger bits of brick as chunks of broken bricks and place them in the rubble then spry with matt varnish

My entry is a bit late and a bit lite but I wanted to create approximately this,

The corner of Henry St and O'Connell St, Dublin on 4th July 1922.
Government forces are using 18 pounders against Anti-Government units trapped in the "Block," largely the Gresham hotel and the offices of the Dublin United Tramways Corporation accross the road.
I intend to convert and use this;

MiniArts cobbled street with tramlines and add a Lancia Triota armoured lorry from another thread.
Firstly I needed to convert the Continental street into an early 20th century Irish one.
I replaced the smaller European paving setts with larger British standard ones.

Then using the standard reference, Dr Seamus Hall-Weigh's, Irish Street Furniture, Vol 1, as a guide, I rebuilt the lamp standard into a tram traction standard.

Replacing the fluted center with a plain brass tube, re-arranged the finial work and scratched the cable arm. Finally I added the crest of the Dublin United Tramways Corporation on an access door to the base side. The one over the street in the first photo gives a good example of the late Victorian type.

Rather than build the poor unfortunate corner chemist shop, something I think a little beyond me, I just cut a square of thin perspex, used rub-down lettering to say Dispensing Chemist, established 1871put bold text here then cut it into shards and glued it to the pavement. After weathering and painting it looks like this,

The open space is for an Emhar 18 pounder(when I find it) a Prince August Collins figure (when I paint it) and a Crossley 25/35 Tender (when I finish it)
regards

Even though I've been leaving the components for my large Factory diorama on the workbench at night, the diorama elves have so far not done any work for me so although I still plan to build it I'm going to warm up by doing a smaller dio first.

I have a large box with bits and pieces of plaster buildings I've cast over the years so I dug through it and picked a few pieces out to represent half buried buildings in a sea of rubble.

As a base I recycled this one as the walker was destroyed by some visiting children

I reshaped it added the walls and covered most of the groundwork with plaster bandage/modroc

004

001

I cut a lot of bricks from plaster with a junior hacksaw. I made up a gloopy syrup of acrylic paint and PVA glue which I then added the bricks to to soak up some colour. Then I applied the bricks to the groundwork and let the glue drain away.

010

007

008.

It's meant to depict the backs of buildings in a sea of rubble that has been fought over for a long time. Still lots more bricks to add and I haven't made a final decision on the figures I want to include yet.

I like the way you've gone about building that pile of rubble - must remember that technique!

Figures are mostly Masterbox with a couple of Tristar as well

003

Final positions are not decided and I'll probably add one or two more.

Hi folks,

Got underway yesterday. I'll need to add some filler around the joints and I off set it on a re-cycled base I cleaned up. Joints need some filler but I cracked on with the cobbles and pavements.

I just joined up with this campaign myself. Betta late than never I say.

Some amazing stuff going on here. I am duly impressed!

Don't quite know what I will come up with, but I have factory scene that I want to create, as well as possibly trying my hand with something modern. This will give me some inspiration though if nothing else.

Hi guys,

I have the build blog on the go for this as I reviewed the kit but I thought I better update the campaign.

This is where things stand at the moment.

This afternoon I did a bit of gardening

There is not much space here to creat anything spacial so I though a couple of headstones and a Graveyard would work.

Although I bought this one with a generic base in mind, for the campaign I think I'll go down the BEF route as I have some early carriers to build and some Frence civilians. As it will be a recently damaged house then more brick and rubble will get added and I might even find a home for my Citroen.

Cheers

Al
