Great work everybody, putting us old timers to shame
Mason, as Darren said do what is more comfortable for you. I've done it both ways but prefer to attach them before painting for a couple of reasons. 1-the tool clamps were a part of the vehicle and painted the same color and 2-I'm a sloppy gluer and end up ruining the paintwork if I attach them later.
If you glue them on first, an easy way to paint them neatly is to slip a thin piece of paper (like a post-it note) between the tool and body to act as a mask. You'll still have to do some areas carefully.
If you glue them on after painting, try and use a glue that won't destroy the paint, like Elmers white glue or a craft glue that dries clear. These should be strong enough to hold the tools in place.

Will do. In the meantime, do you wish for us to post any further progression pics of Mason's Tiger?

Yes please continue to update Mason's progress in this thread. My post is aimed at those entries that are finished and for the other members when they finish.

Here's a shot after he just airbrushed the base coat. He worked last night on toning down the dark yellow for the base coat, but once it was on the Tiger, it looked too tan. He is deciding on going back to the yellow he started with.

Stan I mean I need to know how exactly you wish your name added to the certificates before I take them the calligraphers. Taking just your name it could be S. Smith, Stan Smith, Stanley Smith, or just Stan.

Be careful Mason or you could hide a lot of the nice detail due to the paint becoming too thick on the model if you keep repainting it.

Here's Mason's Tiger after his camo work dried....he found it quite tough doing the camo stripes in comparison to the base coating and taped off work he did on the inside. Great experience, but I think he was somewhat disappointed with his end result. Personally, I think he did great considering this is his first camo attempt.

What was the brown colour used in the camouflage pattern and from what company as in the pictures it looks very red? as regards the camouflage pattern it looks fine to me. he can always tone down the paint with some washes if that is what he doesn't like. If it makes you feel better about the finish, if applied in the field all sorts of colours and patterns could be seen after all they were applied with everything from an airbrush, paint brush, rag to a broom and everything in between, the paint was also mixed with whatever was available.
Mason you have every reason to be proud of your model so far and if the paint job is not pleasing you it can be removed and done again..

The flash from the camera made the colors bright. He used Model Master's acrylic Earth Red, Field Drab and the toned down Dark Tan.
Darren, I'll show him your response before he heads off to school. I know he plans on weathering it.

I was frustrated by not getting my lines thinner and was afraid of starting over. I didn't want to fill in the zimmerit details. Like my dad said, the pictures make the colors look brighter than they are on the tank. I'm going to leave it as it is and start adding those tools then I can do the weathering.

Mason the lines are fine and I am sure the finish will grow on you. Well done.

Just to keep everyone updated, Mason has been struggling through the PE tool straps and has all but one tool on the tank.
He has been debating how he wanted to approach the side skirts. He had left them off when he sprayed the camo. He admitted that he forgot about them.
I suggested he think about bent and damaged skirts and just attach and attempt to match the camo stripes. I think that's what he's going to do. He said was going to get the tracks on when he gets home from school and make the final decision on the skirts then.

I believe he can leave them off if he wishes and place red undercote where the track guards would be, this does make for an eye catching point. There is always the possibility someone more knowledgeable on the Tiger 1 may say I am wrong in my belief.

Just been painting the stowage I made for it and unfortunately went to put my brush down and SNAP! I break the antenna clean in two . It's getting late now so I'll see what I can do in the morning.
Mason, I think Darren is right in what he is saying, like Darren said, someone will be able to answer, just put up a topic in the armour/AFV forum and ask, I'm sure someone will know. And good looking tiger
Cheers Stan

Thanks guys for the input! Mason went ahead and put them on and did the stripes. All I could do was cross my fingers and watch...and hope for the best. Here's the result...

Thank you sir. I tried to be very careful with my taping and painting. Some of the stripes were painted over by accident.
