Jeff: Unfortunately yes, Vallejo paints are very soft so take care handling them until you can get a protective clear coat over them. I think your convoy light will look excellent in clear blue with a reflector behind it, sort of giving it a glowing look when the light hits it right.

Paul: I dig the figures, nice work!

Paul,Ditto on the figures, they look great

VonH,that's what I thought, since I'm going with all semi-gloss black any dash of color will help bring out the details.I hoping it will be pretty cool by the time I'm done. All black, new shiny tools.some different colors here and there. Jeff

I nearly finished with construction of Verlinden's old and rare "Cyborg Hunter." This figure's fit and construction is stellar and definitely reminds me of the video game "Fallout 3," which I'm basing it on.

I added extras such as the grenades, first aid, and ALICE ammo pouch that the kit didn't include. The rest is OOTB.

On to primer and painting soon...

Jeff: Just take care when handling the areas covered with Vallejo. I went through the same thing when I started figure painting and i kept rubbing the paint off of the raised details while handling the figure during painting sessions.

Peter: I dig the modern Fallout series and look forward to seeing what you do with your figure. Glad to hear that it's going together so well

Turret, hull, and tracks today.First the turret.Scratched the grab handle with copper wire
Going together well, don't like the gap in the Turret vent
Since the grab handle came out so well,in a fit of insanity,I decided to scratch the turret gear hangers?Five on each side
should have done the lift loops to,but didn't have the right size wire
Tracks painted and installed, upper and lower hull joined
starting to look like I may finish.Jeff

Snow? What is this snow of which you speak? Actually, we had snow on one of the mountain tops right around Christmas, but it was still in the upper 70's at the beach. Since that it's been a bit overcast, but still 70's - 80's down here.

Jeff: I can beat that with June!!! Anytime we get a high altitude cold front/ moisture system, we get snow. Two of our 5 mountains (on the Big Island) cap out at just under 14,000 feet, so it doesn't take too much for it to be cold and wet enough up there.

The Fuehrer's ride is almost ready to have it's picture taken.Painting all the little fiddly bits, tools and stuff. Hopefully tomorrow. It will not be weathered but I need some help with that.Remember it was in Hitlers bunker,so I'm thinking covered with cement dust for a start. If so I will need some color hints and also how to do dust effects.Put on your thinking caps and let me know.Jeff

I hear crickets.
Is there a Mig product for light dust? You may have to airbrush a dusting of a slightly lighter base coat over the top surfaces (don't ask me, no airbrush here. )
Anyone else have ideas?

Crickets? I hate crickets

Jeff: AK Interactive has two excellent dust filters that can be found here:

http://www.ak-interactive-usa.com/weathering.html

I recommend using their White Spirit when using the AK filters.

Guys, glad to see I'm not alone.Should have the Panther finished this weekend(sans wheathering)AK makes good stuff, but I need some color help.Since the tank was in Hitler's Bunker ,cement dust would be my first thought. So a brown/grey color will work.Should I use washes, pigments or both? Thanks,Jeff

Sean: I agree! They're a very modeler friendly company, Iain is great to talk to so don't be afraid to contact him if you have any questions about the AK products. He is a very experienced modeler and knows his stuff.

Jeff: Direct concrete dust is basically white. Standard interior dust would most likely be a white-gray. If wood construction was going on then you would have a rich yellow or yellow-white color depending on the wood used. You'll also have a general light yellow dust as well that has been generated from other sources. So I'm thinking a white/yellow mix would suit you well, mind you just a tint of yellow so it doesn't look like pollen.

As for application, I don't think that you need to apply a wash unless you want depict very heavy deposits which I don't think are practical in your scenario. What I would do is mist the Panther with a light spray applied directly perpendicular to the top and moving to a steep angle when approaching the edges to get a light layer on the tracks/wheels/etc.
