Phill: Don't be a stranger!

Jeff: For AK I would suggest either Ak 015 Dust Effects or AK 022 Africa Dust Effects, but ask Iain first as he will have a better insight into what would best suit your needs.
For Vallejo I would suggest 120 Buff.
For Tamiya I would suggest XF-57 Buff.

Your build is looking very sinister, and I really dig the blue light! I would have painted the tracks a gunmetal color highlighted with graphite or a silver. I don't think that there is any need to add stowage to the turret given the nature of the Panther's origin.

I hope to get started on my own project this week.
Cheers and keep on modelling!

vonH,I think you are right about the tracks.I'm thinking a fairly high gloss(a little bit shinier than satin)so it looks like the tracks are painted with an epoxy paint for toughness and durabilty,to keep the tracks looking good for a long time."What if" things had turned out differently and this tank was used as a victory parade ride?If they come out too shiney,I can tone them down with weathering. As for the dust,I have some Vallejo 976 Buff.Too yellow you think?Jeff...just answered my own question, checked online and 976 is 120

Jeff: that is one sweet ride!! The Bavarian Corporal would be proud to cruise it down the street.

I think the tracks are the right color, but could use just a touch of low key wear, perhaps some bare metal showing through on the high parts and at the joint hinges. (it was probably at least driven into the bunker, on the concrete floors)

Looks great though.

Excellent, remember that you just want a light misting of the buff so don't be afraid to thin it out more than usual and of course test it on something first.

I like Zon's thought on the tracks, particularly because it will keep you from having to repaint them.

Pencil, absolutely. You want to keep the wear minimal, focusing on the most prominent contact points.

Jeff, I would try an HB, which is softer than a number 2, but a number 2 could work too, or any "soft" artist pencil.

Hey ya boys ,,Just been reading this page and to Jeremy ,, oh i won't be a stranger .,,well no stranger than i already am
Jeff .. I use a paint which might just give ya what you're looking for .Humbrol have a colour they call coal black ( no 85 ) , its a satin paint which layers very nicely and when dry looks alot like epoxy paint , has the same finish as the epoxy we used to spray on bulldozers ,also looks a lot like powder coated paint too .
Hope that will help ya matey .

Phill

Ditto number 3 ,, HB is the way to go

Ok guys, here's my project. I'll be building the dio for the Urban Warfare campaign. The combo of the boiler room and the Luther just seemed too cool to pass up

JT: A great looking pair! I think you should put a touch of mud-splash on the Panther (from the Dragon wheels) to tie them together.

Jeremy: That's cool!! How did the Luther go together? I'd been thinking about some of those but got put off by the price. Looks super cool though.

Jeff ,, looking very cool mate ..once that Panther is weathered up abit it will look outstanding man

Jeremy .. very nice choice dude ..even tho it would look alot better with glue instead of masking tape

I am seriously looking forward to see how these two come out in the end ..man i have so got to get back on to The Beast ,, kind of miss working on that .

Jordan: You bet! Can't wait to see your custom work here

Zon: I only test fit the main pieces for a compatibility test with the boiler room, but the pieces fit together superbly. The pieces are cast in resin, but you'd never know it because it's so refined, and there is no cleanup aside from the pour plugs. They certainly are a bit pricey, but no more than any other resin kit out there, and you can't top the quality.

Phill: LOL thanks! And you'll get there, just make sure to post some teasers for us

VonH...that looks like something that might be lurking in the basement next to my oil tank.I've been hearing noises down there.Could be mice though I will say one thing,IT IS COOL.Great idea.
Zon....Thanks Bub,I will be taking on the weathering in a bit,try to stay warm.
Phill...I just saw on the news that you guys had a big waterspout down there today.Did you see it?? And yes, you need to get back to the Beast. We all know that if beasts are not handled on a regular basis they become unruley, and we don't need an unruley beast. Thanks for the comments,J.T.

Hey Jeff .. Ya i know the one your talking about and nope didn't see if at all ..saw on yahoo mail yesterday afternoon ..as per my normal Wed i am out all day so all i saw was light rain all day .
One thing which really annoys me here is the weather dudes say its going to rain in Auckland today ..and we don't get a drop but over the North Shore it really comes down lol ,was are always saying that this is the not a small city so if it rains up north it aint raining here lol ..they will never learn

Just had some ideas for The Beast ,,fact i'm having a look at it right now , think this idea will work nicely
