I just checked the Azimut Productions web site and the G10 Box car is not listed anymore. They still have four rail cars listed, two flat cars and the Panzertraggerwagen. You can order thies start from them.

This is getting more interesting and a little stranger each time I check in. First strange one was the bicycle powered platform which was so cool I thought about adding one to my dio, and the second was the mule powered one. Always happy to help or inspire folks! There's two rules of thumb for building/making trucks....scratch all of them or make one master and resin cast it multiple times.

Sal, Mack did model they're few rail pieces after the well known AC trucks...while the trucks had a great reputation, the rail equipment didn't so much. Mack made quite a few switchers and some rail busses.

Awh come on man, don't sell yourself short! The hardest part to the project would be finding good multiview drawings to go by...really. Use a DML kit for the frame and attached goodies...all you'd have to is build the sides, ends{same as the sides but much shorter!} and the top.

I'll bet they do too...it seemed at 1st that they were copying the old DML stuff but then they came running out of the usual box with the armored train goodies and haven't stopped to look back yet....I think DML figured they couldn't keep up with Trumpy so they'd just re-release the old classics.

I don’t know who DML copied there different rail cars from. Or I should have said they copied and retooled some parts. They sure resemble Ironside in there construction of the parts, but just cleaner.

PanzerZug I found a great image of 3 abandoned cars... in a bit of a state ....
mmmmmm = very tempting especially with CyberHobby doing those kits with the extras.

Why the shame, did I do something wrong? or was there a particular way you were looking at doing it?
Intrested in you ideas as to painting and weathering, have not done much armor for years.

In 42 or 43 when the order came down for the armor to change from gray to yellow the train’s rear ordered to change also. When they camouflaged the trains they also camouflaged the armor. All the pictures I have of camouflaged BP-42’s and 44’s so the 38ts camouflaged to match the Panzertarggerwagen.

@Sal Those particular Panzerspaheagens (heavy scout cars) weren’t delivered until 44 so they should be painted yellow. They can also be camouflaged. The railroad came under the same rules as the armor did.

For those of you that are really interested in the German Armored Trains, Die Panzerzuge des Deutschen Reiches 1904-1945 by Wolfgang Sawodny ISBN 3-88255-678-1 is the book is the book you need. It’s in German only. It has a lot of pictures of cars and things you woun’t even think they put on rail.

It´s not in German only anymore. There´s english version available and I have to say it´s a must for armored train modelers.

@ Hey Mark I like your 38T and the Panzertraggerwagen. DML left out the coupling parts from there Panzerspahwagens. Here is a dio you could do is incorporate your Panzertraggerwagen with the Panzerspahwagens. Build yourself an armored train (heavy scout car). The normal train consisted of twelve differently equipped cars; four artillery cars, four infantry cars and two command cars. At the ends of the train were panzertraggerwagens and pusher cars. Now that would be a train.
@ casualmodeler They would bring it out in English. BTW how much is it now? I just might have to get a new copy. It is a must for German armored train builders.
