Ok, guys how does this sound for a campaign idea. During World War II many military forces used trains to move equipment and troops all over Europe. Even in the U.S. Soldiers and Sailors alike were transported from coast to coast via civilian trains for training and prior to being shipped overseas. Also what child didn’t wake up on Christmas Day hoping to find that Lionel Train set underneath the tree. So here is my proposal:

Any time period
Any scale
Any type of Engine or rolling stock
Any type of station or platform
Any type of rail gun or what if armored rail car
And most importantly must have fun

I was thinking a 12 month campaign starting on Black Friday, November 25, 2011 and running to November 24, 2012

Everything from diorama of a rail station with a battle taking place to even a flat car on some tracks would be acceptable

This is my 1st campaign proposal/suggestion so you guys please let me know what you all think.

One question. Just to make things clear, do you accept armored cars used on rails? Like Italeri Ferroviari AB41 or Dragon Panhard with railwheels?

About time you started your own campaign

You know I'm in, I'll find something to build.
For the time being all I have is an armored car modified for the railroad, but I'll look around and see what else I can find.

If it has wheels to move on 2 steel rails its in.

Thanks for the vote of confidence there Jeremy, I was hoping you would sign up as I would like to tap into your ribbon and banner making skills if you wouldn't mind

Thanks buddy, my computer skills are worse then my modeling skills

I was thinking of a orange, ivory, and blue ribbon, the color of the Lionel box, with a locomotive in the center for a ribbon. But that is my limited thought process, I really need to pop open a window when I spray paint
As for a banner I haven't started to think about that yet

Hi Sal,
Looks like you have Generated some interest in this campaign and we have plenty of time not only to get modelers enlisted but also plenty of time to plan our projects.
As I stated eariler I am in, however that BR-52 is a bit ambitious a project for me, so I'll stick with the railcars.

BTW: If anyone is interested in the BR-52 kit, I'll be putting it up for Sale or Trade in the Buy/Sell/Trade Fourm.

Keep On Modeling, milvehfan

That's a ridiculous idea... that I often have pursued myself!
As a member of a local model railroad group, I'm the yahoo that builds things like this...
Catapult Railcar for aerial defense
I think an armored train is so cool, but personally I don't see the logic in a heavily armored thing that's confined to rails.
Regardless, I'd certainly find something to make for this campaign! Sal, thanks for rolling this one out.

Armored trains proved the deciding factor in who ruled over Russia for a while.

Got it, I have an idea but it will be a couple of days before I can get to it.
As for the spray paint, come on man, the fumes are supposed to be good for you!

@ Milvehfan, that BR-52 does seam like a very ambitious project which is why I thought a year might be a good time frame

@Windysean, thats 1 wild looking flat car, just the type of stuff we are looking for

@ RetiredYank, welcome aboard mate glade to have ya

@ Jeremy, no rush here buddy we have plenty of time

Now I need to figure out what I'm gonna build myself

This tread got pushed to page 2 of the campaign page so let me bumb it here. We still need a few more people interested and I forgot to mention that civilian trains and platforms will be acceptable as long as military personal or battle damage is present

Great idea, gentlemen!

For those of you who may not know, this network has a railroad site: RailRoadModeling.

We just finished up a railroad campaign a year ago: Stop, Look and Listen

...and the finishing thread: with all the built models

Stop by and look around. We'd love to have some posts of your work.

Perhaps this campaign should be hosted over on the RailRoadModeling site instead of Armorama.
