Matthew..... Welcome (again)? looking forward to seeing what you build.
Remco....... Go on Remco you know want to a T34/76 at Kursk would be great!

Oke oke, you got me...I sign up. (you had me when i red ''Go on'')

But i have to check the spare box and do some scrach building on the boxes on the side and turret (yes, even a box on the rear of the turret

I am going to convert a dragon T-34/76 kit no. 6205 and have the extra turret from cyberhobby T-34/76 STZ model 1942 kit no. 6388. The front plate i have to scratchbuild. O no, the hooks i also have to build... Thats a challange...
Maybe one of those kits have some spare hooks i hope....

Remco

Remco .........Welcome aboard, looking forward to your T-34 it sounds like it's going to a bit of work for you, but it will be worth it.
Has anybody thought about a Finnish T34 ?

Sooooo.... it's only about 5 days till the off! I was searching away for more images of 'Cuckoo' and Wow found this British Pathe film footage, it's towards the end so bare with it, but well worth it. Looks great in snow camo too!

Regards Duncan.

Thanks for persuading me in to this campaign Duncan .

The idea for a finnish T-34 is cool! they had a nice cammouflage color with green, brown and blue.

I can not wait to begin

@ Duncan - love the Cuckoo ! I recently read an article about it, how the Americans fixed it and were really impressed by the accuracy of its gun, only abandoning it when it broke down again - probably wasn't a good idea by the Germans using slave-labour to build their tanks

Not quite sure how to replicate the insignia on my F2 - anybody got any ideas? I'm contemplating free-hand, or trying to make a stencil...neither will be easy.
On the plus-side, after water-boarding my plastic for a while , I got almost all the AM goodies I need for this one.
Cheers,
Dierk

I have suffered an opportunity-driven change of plans... I had planned on doing an ex-Commonwealth Universal Carrier with a 2cm Flak 38 up-loaded for this campaign... But look what the postman left me Friday-last! It's the new Italeri Semovente L/40 da 47/32 kit, and I have mine newly-arrived from, of all places, Hong Kong, in my hot n sweaty hands!

It just screams for me to build it RIGHT NOW, and the clear option exists to do it in an ex-Italian Royal Army German (or maybe even Slovenian) livery (see below instructions image), as these, like other Italian stuff, were seized by the needy Germans right after Italy signed its Armistice with the Allies in SEPT 1943. The tiny L/40 da 47/32 was actually said to be a pretty good thing, in comparison to much of what Italy fielded as "tanks" in WWII... So the lore goes, there may have been around 100 or so of these little crawlers "seconded" by the Germans and used to the end of the war in anti-partisan and other roles.

The kit looks pretty nice - it IS tiny (hardly larger than a Panzer 1A kit - right down there in the tiny tank category and just my size, as I really like the small jobs ) , the moldings look crisp, there's some good detail (but a reasonable parts-count - no Dragon SuperKit, this), there is some interior (it being open-top, there better darned well be some!), there's a small PE fret (including some really cool Italian Army license plates), and the decals look OK. This one comes with link-n-length tracks, so it will be a new experience for me...

So NOW I'm all ready to go, soon as the campaign clock strikes "start"!

This one will, I think, go together pretty fast, and I don't plan on doing too much scratch (OK, new tilt, some details in and out, an antenna and radio, and maybe a top-mounted MG w/ shield, if I can find a reasonable Spandau 08-15, or maybe an MG-13, or perhaps one of those Italian MG... these are the MG types which have been captured in various pics of this thing).

The Uni-carrier and its Flak 38 may also get built in time for this... we'll just have to see!

Rem;

I'll be cutting the sprue baggy on Thursday PM, and (right after taking and posting a final sprue shot for dating the official start of this build) starting in on things! Knives are sharp, tweezers ready, cement jars within reach, sanders on hand, yah-dee-yah-dee-yah!

From a number of pics off the Web, it looks like I can identify most of the "reasonable" detail fixes for the outside - for either the earlier-war Italian "stock" vehicles or the post-Armistice "German-adopted". It seems that some of those German adoptees may have been seconded by the Slovenian Army in late 1944 or early '45, and they seem to have done a couple more changes, such as adding on what looks like flat boxes to the hull-sides, and a pretty nifty-looking MG mount with a shield.

Tweaks?

I don't plan on swapping out the tracks - the kit bits look OK, and I'm pretty cheap, so... I do expect to add in a radio and antenna mount, refine some exterior trim and details (tinker with suspension bits and details to match photos, fix up a nice jack-mount, rework the spare wheel rack, detail the hinges, add a tool clasp or 2, and maybe open up vent grills), maybe enhance the interior a bit (controls can be refined a bit, and maybe the seats, add some grab handles, detail the main gun, add cable for that side lamp, add a likely gun rack and MP-40, add on some German personal gear, etc.). Those side-boxes "call me" as does adding on the MG mount. The tilt should be replaced with a paper item with proper mount rings (if the boxes don't get added). A nice tow cable would help, and perhaps some external stowage.

The box notes a good-looking German paint-scheme, and some of the available pics suggest versions of that - Alternatively, there are good photos of the vehicle in Slovenian colors - seemingly like the German... that's the draft plan!

I am watching the clock!

Dierk....... I knew about the British use of 'Cuckoo' and that is was disabled after its fuel pump gave up the ghost BUT I didn't know that the US Army had a play with it too!! where did you read about that I'd like to have a read.

Bob......... Wow!... I love that little Italeri Semovente L/40 da 47/32 that your building I will definitely be getting that kit as I think will be Matthew.

Remco..... I think because I'm in Australia and that we are roughty half a day ahead maybe that's why the Campaign became live 1/2 a day early? you could have started I reckon? you'd have got no grumbles from me! just remember it will probably stop 1/2 a day early =

Right no build update from me till tomorrow, hopefully ... but happy model building to all.

Hmmmm. DagBlad... Wow! the Daily Blat! Ah, and now we all should finally know where that old newspaper term comes from!

Speaking of daily blats... guess I better haul on out and find one, so I can get gluing! If I wait for it to be delivered...

everybody! First off - Duncan, oops, my bad the Cuckoo was British of course (this is where a blushing emoticon would come in handy...)
Let's see if this works (trying to save my gallery space by using photobucket)

So, what have we got?
Italeri Pz. Kpfw. IV F2 (sprues debagged some 30 years ago, when I bought it - as you can see from the instructions they still used parchment in those days ) , Aber and Royal Model PE, Voyager tools, Tahk cupola, some tracks I've been given and a tow-cable that had the resin eyelets broken - still waiting for the barrel.
This is going to be the Joan Rivers of the campaign - old bones covered with new bits

Hey Dierk

The panzer 4 F-2 is my favorite under the panzer 4 series. You can go so many ways with it... Africa, Eastern front, Italy... There were the lowest build in numbers
(200 approx). Who has ''captured'' this tank?

everybody - Joan Rivers has thrown the first spanner into the works:

And I've only just started - let's hope this isn't a sign of things to come...
Won't be doing much on the kit today for a change.

Hi Duncan, I am currently working on 4 other campaigns but with a week of vacation (no work ) coming up i plan on finishing up at least 2 of them and starting here. I am going to be doing this Trumpeter KV-2 captured by German unit and as I opened the box to spread out the spruces for the picture I was surprised to fine Lion Roar PE and Barrel set in the box, that I didn't know was in there
Photobucket
Will this photo do or do I have to go buy a paper tomorrow and take another
looking forward to getting this 1 started
