These are a fire extinguisher and a clamp for joining two ends of the tracks during repair.

More affectionately known as a C-Hook, mainly used as extending a tow cable and attaching it to the tank.

Jeff

The fire extinguisher was normally painted dark blue, green, or grey, not red.

I am starting Revell's braille Jagdpanther for the campaign. I have not selected colour scheme. It may be in winter camo.

As you can see still a little warping left but this shouldn't affect it when gluing it down.

I must have deleted the other pictures, for this is all I have left. I'll get the camera back soon and show some more.

Can't decide if I like the guns level or pointing towards the sky.

I did have to "dremel" the turret ring opening in the hull slightly larger for the turret to set in. It's a tight fit so no gluing needed there.

Mr.S,I'm thinking half way between the two.
Anyway, for all the help you guys have given Me,I thought it was only right to give you a look at what has been done so far.
Thanks for the help. For what its worth,I found a couple of things with the instructions. They may sound simple to some, but I had to look close to get them right. In step 12,it does not say anything about NOT GLUEING the pivot points of B14 to B21.If you do glue them, the barrel will not move up or down, .In step 13,it says nothing about NOT GLUEING the pivot points of B18 to the two brackets made up of B23,B19 and B24,B20,if you glue these, the hatch will not open and close. It might seem clear to some but it almost got Me.Just thought I would try to give something back. once again, thanks for the help, and hopefully I will be starting my Jag very soon.J.T.

I also remembered this morning that I needed (wanted) the easy to build workable tracks from Bronco.

These are more 'assembled' than put together as no glue will be needed, so I can save a bit of hair through out this build.

That's what it's all about, huh?

Jeff T I love the look of your work in progress and I really must get one of these turrets.

Jeff S Your progress is looking good and those tracks have caught my eye before, would you be willing to write a review of the tracks as they are missing on the Armorama review list?

Some nice progress here guys
@ Jeff S I also like that turret may have to get me 1 of those too
@ Jeff T Eddie Narves wrote the following about my build of the same tank you may what to consider it before you put paint on it

you may want to think about removing the T.S.R.1 observation periscope (optional part B39) from the Pilzen (socket) just forward of the commander’s cupola. This item is seen on the first prototype Panther F vehicle in the extended position, if you must have it on your vehicle it should be placed on the commander’s cupola, on the post with the hole in it, just to the left of the forward periscope hood (the instructions are incorrect and have you place it where you now have it)

Looking forward to more guys

Reporting in with my Panther. There have been so many amazing builds so far and I've been so busy, that if been putting off my entry. But here goes.

I'm building the DML late Panther with some photo-etching. Nothing special here just yet. Some early building. I was thinking of during some a bit exotic, but am having problems. I heard that after WWII Arab nations used Panthers, even in combat against Israeli Shermans. Unfortunately, I haven't bee able to either substantiate what I heard/read somewhere or seen pictures. If anyone knows anything about this, please advise.

Here's what I go so far..

I'm still working on the etched parts (engine cover armour) and the IR sets on the turret.
It requires patience and and not loosing small parts art.
Hope to post some pre-primed photos soon.

I wish you luck with those tracks if they're anything like the late model set I've just given up on. Yes, they're very easy to assemble, but the pins which hold them together keep breaking off and without glue they are actually worse than the DML individual links.

After ending up with about 14 runs instead of two, I went back to the DML tracks and had far less trouble.

All I can say is - I have a lot of track links spare for hanging about Panthers!

Raul

You and I are building the same kit and I'm a lot further advanced, so am happy to answer any questions you might have.

About one thing I am curious regarding Panther G's in general - what colour was the inside of the vents (the ones on which you've just installed the mesh) ?

I think it unlikely that the Germans would have gone to the trouble of applying Dunkelgelb (or any other finish colour for that matter) to the insides of the vents, so I'm going for primer red on mine. I note in Mike Roof's article on building the Panther G that he seems to think the same, especially for the vent with the crew heater.

What do others think ?

We've all been having the "Server busy" problem for weeks now. Jim S is working on the problem but it seems not to be a simple one to fix.

Thanks Rob for the warning. My biggest phobia on individual links is getting them from the table glued together and on the model. I may have to work with these (the BRONCO tracks) on the fly and glue them together once set up on the model. I was acting on the recommendation of a fellow modeler here at ARMORAMA on these BRONCO tracks so let's hope it was a good move on my part. Twenty bucks is twenty bucks but I may just have to get some metal tracks for it then!

Thanks again!

Hi Guys!

I'm in! I've had two polar panthers sitting in my stack for awhile. Now just to decide which to build. DMLs early Panther D - Kursk, or the late G with Infra-red?

Any suggestions?

Here are some in process photos of the 1/16 Jagdpanther im building for the campaign.

Shot of the barrel, sample road wheels and the rear panel

Rear deck, the screens are actually bolted to the deck using scale hardware.

Suspension for the road wheels. I need to hide/cover up the screw heads. Do you have a suggestion as to how to do that?

Top view of the upper portion of the hull.

Currently working on soldering the storage bins together. Will post some photos of those when done.

Right now I'm working on the 1/16 Tamiya Panther and trust me, you'll never see those screw heads at all. The road wheels will cover/hide them very well.

I have started my 1/48 Tamiya Jagdpanther Late version. It's a great little kit aside from the two piece barrel and the overall lack of bolt head detail on the lower hull, but not bad at all. The Hauler PE is really going to bring it to life. I'll get photos posted as soon as I can.

Tom: She looks great! I'll have to try one of those when and if I can ever find one once I have the finances/space. Which vehicle are you planning on depicting? I am leaning towards 212 myself, it has a very nice bold camo pattern. I'll be working on my own PE bins as well, albeit in 1/48. Hopefully yours are much easier to solder

OK, I'm back . . . .

I have now finished all the roadwheels and added them to the tank. I do this at this stage because if I do it any later in the process, for sure I will manage to knock off something delicate. The underside of the tank has also been decorated with a mix of Tamiya diorama texture paints and Mig pigments in order to obtain a suitably dirty look.

As you will have noticed higher up this page, I had a less than successful relationship with a certain manufacturer's supposedly workable late model Panther track links, so reverted to using the kit ones out of frustration. Suffice to say that the comments from above the workbench ensured that the dog stayed hiding under the bench!

The tracks are shown here ready for mounting.

More progress soon.

Regards

Rob
