Just as an example, I found this http://www.model-making.eu/zdjecia/7/5/7/1482_2_tam35203_7.jpg

from here http://www.model-making.eu/Tamiya-German-Tank-Destoyer-Jagdpanther-Late-Version-p-1-212598.html

It all depends on what year you want to represent. All I did was Google Jagdpanther color chart and found it.

At the same time I am building a Late Production Tamiya Panther G 1/16 RC that I started some time ago. I stopped on it to build a 1/16 RC Sherman M4A3 "Oddball tank" from the movie "Kellys Heroes. Now I need to finish it AND the Panther Campaign at the same time! LOL

~ Jeff

....Geez,I could have done that Really though, thanks for the help it gives me a good place to start.Should I do a camo or just one colour do you think.I'm leaning towards camo.Jeffalso

I think I have decided on a 1/48 Tamiya Jagdpanther for this campaign. I have a few color profiles that I am interested in, so I'll start looking things over to see what I will need for AM or scratchbuild. I'll be asking for input during the course of my build in hopes to stave of any major issues.

Here's what I have to work with:

Hope it is in compliance with the said rules.

Looks like I also need to work on my photo skills (or lack there of) as we go along the next year.

Welcome aboard David. With 56 entries for this campaign and Panther chassis based vehicles being built of all scales and types this should be a very enjoyable campaign to both watch and participate in.

Hi guys,

This looks like a fun challange and would like to join the Panther build club
I am not a "hard core"builder" yet... but i think i can learn a lot by following this build

The kit i am going to build wil be from cyber hobby kit NB 6659 with RB barrel and fruil tracks.

I whant to build the Panther that stands in the museum in Overloon Holland

Panther 222 belonged to the 107th Panzerbrigade which was commanded by Major Freiherr von Maltzahn.

The Kit.

Guys ,I am planning to build a 1/76 jagdpanther.I though I would try a winter scene, with a winter camo (whitewash) on the tank.Would this be realistic and if so what base colour should I use on the jag?Thanks,Jeff2

This is the kit I am going to build and I am going to do some scratchwork during this build as I have found some images of a jagdpanther I really like. I am going to build a Jagdpanther 3/Schwere Heeres Panzerjager Abteilung 654 from Normandy July 1944 , which I believe this model is an ideal candadate for unless someone can tell me differently.

Well done thus far Tim are you going to add zimmerit and if so are you buying a product or making yoiur own? Did you encounter any miss numbered parts or directed to glue pieces into the wrong location? I ask as I have found a couple on my Jagdpanther which I will highlight in my next post.

Speaking of with or without zimmerit, since I am going with the D chassis, the Coelian turret was only a prototype at that stage and if it had went into production would have used the G chassis.

Therefore I am going to replicate ONE of the photos I have, along with what appears to be a British agent/official standing next to it.

So this means no tools, no zimmerit and no markings since it would have not been a combat vehicle. It also had a wooden turret so I may look into replicating what that might have looked like ... wood grain or simulated wood color? The extra time I may also have to add a building standing in the scene too ... like a mini dio. Who knows? I have lots of down time in-between build stages on my 1/16 Panther so I have time to decide.

Also looking into some AM tracks since the kit has the yucky individual links. Broncos are about $22.00 shipped (and are workable) where the metal Friuls are around $40.00. Both will be for the D chassis.

Too bad there are not any color photographs of the wooden prototype.

Ok, gents
The clock is running and we are keeping score.

Looking through the Panther-phenalia down in the man-dungeon (below grade, poor light, not much heat, but with a finished floor. not a cave, a dungeon). Most of the panther stuff is in a drawer, but I'll drag it out for more pics.

I've got an 'old' Tamiya Panther G late and a gigantic wall-o' aftermarket all orig designed for the Tamiya kits and somewhat superceded for the newer DML kits.

Looks like it will be
Anvil tracks
Aber etch (most but not all, I'm not THAT crazy)
Aber or Eduard barrel
Adlers nest mg's and antennae, maybe track pins
Clipper mg rail
Fruil idler
Moskit exhausts

maybe the Mori cupola and Fine Molds clear scopes
maybe a Mori sprocket depending on the fit to the Anvils

and depending on the level of insanity / focus (I'm good with crazy, just not with focus) a Verlinden engine comp and maybe a Tank workshop interior.

So as of now, pre-opening the sprues

inital pics taken with crummy camera on phone. Better pics later.

I wasnt planning on adding zimmerit, not sure if first production run of the "D" had it. My plan was to replicate a "D" from Kursk. Yes the instruction sheets are not always user friendly. Poor locations for where parts go, have to constantly check pics online. No instructions on how to mount bow MG. But nothing that cant be overcome.

Tim part of the reason for running this campaign is to help future modellers build their Panthers, please could you identify the issues as you find them and how you cured/corrected them, also please could correct numbers on the mislabelled parts.

Here is my work on the Jagdpanther so far. The pictures cover most of stage one and two and more pictures will follow soon. It is worth mentioning that the location for part (H15) for the right side is shown in the instructions as being placed in the wrong location, the part goes towards the rear of the tank not the front. Other than this no other issues have been encountered, but care must be taken to get the suspension arms in the correct holes. One thing I really like about Dragon Panther and Jagdpanther models is that if you take care when securing the suspension arms they remain workable, which is a great addition if your model is going to be displayed on an uneven surface. I do recommend that the arms are glued in place once there location is decided upon as otherwise washes and the like may get to attack the exposed plastic causing breakages to occur.

Ok I got started on my Dragon Panther F Smart kit yesterday
Photobucket
This box is full to the max with parts, step1 was most of the wheels
Photobucket
and I completed step2 with 1 oops that I was able to correct that will be covered up once the upper hull is on
Photobucket
Dragon Instructions are not the clearest
And now a question for the Panther experts If the "F" was a proto type and never put into production how can you have an "Early" and a "Late" version
