Hi Folks,

I just checked when I last put any photos of my build on the group and it was back at page 11, that's a long time without doing much. I have read all the subsequent pages and seen some outstanding work, it would take too long to give individual praise, so I hope it will suffice if I say...'Gentlemen you have displayed some fine modelling skills and your builds are a wonderful sight to behold.'...

I have managed to get some paint on my little Vickers light tank and will be detailing it next, lots of rivets to accentuate, hours of fun. Anyway here are the pictures of the paint stage so far....

Hopefully I will be able to devote more time to this project and get it finished. I want to do the little tankette as well for this Campaign, so I better get cracking.

All the best,

Paul

I got on a roll this weekend and I got this one finished. I didn't get as many pictures as I had wanted. I kind of took them on the fly and many weren't really usable.

With the German modifications on, it was time for the base coat. I didn't use the typical Panzer Grey because this is a support vehicle, as opposed to a fighting tank. With the paint dry, I painted the mud. I used MM IDF Sand as the base and then dry-brushed it with USMC Sand. I tied them together usign a wash of dark tan.

Running gear on, I added some more Celluclay to the running gear. Not shown, but I painted them the same way I did the hull. While all that dried I turned my attention to other bits. I moved the radio antenna from the hull up to the rear of the turret. I wanted to free up the engine deck. Since this is a tow vehicle, I decided to make a tow bar. I used lenths of sprue. I capped them off with trimmed pieces of scrap styrene. The storage rack was fashioned from styrene strips. You need a place to hook the tow bar to, so I scavanged a hitch from an old Italeri Sherman I had in the spares and modified it to fit the Stuart.

Here's the lower hull with its finished mudjob. It came out better than I expected. I usually put too much much mud. I'm not sure how far along this is in terms of washes for the actual kit. I really didn't have any usable pictures of the finishing paint.

But I do have pictures of the finished kit...and in much better light. You can see the German equipment added. The tow bar mounted on the rear. Added stowage box. And I added a hitch.

Anyway, I think that's it. I'll wait a couple of days before uploading my finished pictures to the Campaign Gallery. That will give me time to catch anything I might have missed.

Hi Folks,

I have done all the detail painting and washes for this Vickers 8 ton light tank, all that remains is the decals and some weathering. I haven't got a base sorted out, but that can wait. When the last stages are done I will post it as a finished build. Here are the photos....

I will post the pictures of the final stages as soon as I get them done. With this one finished I can start on my tankette.

All the best,

Paul

Hi John & gang,

Much to my chagrin I've been ghosting since Page 2! I see my two original choices (Stuart & Pz38) are well represented already, so what do you say to the Pz II's stockier brother, the PzII Luchs? I've got the old ICM kit in the stash, and if I can remove the gallon of oil they used as mould-release, I'm willing to bash it into shape! Is it ok by the rules?

Dear all,

This is my entrance for the light tanks campaign.

It is the test sprue of a new chinese company (S-Model). I got it the other day when I bought a Dragon's Panzer III and IV at the local hobby shop in Qingdao. I didn't get any instructions nor decals.

It will be a quick build since it is 1/72 or 1/76.

Best regards,
Angel

Hi all,

Trying to make the finish line. I've put a first coat of paint and assembled the fruils. I tried using Blacken-it to weather the tracks, not too impressed by the results, maybe I needed to soak them longer.

Phuc - Beautiful work on the Sheridan, love the color graduation!

Hi Guys,

Just finished up my Half Track M2 for the Half track campaign and been going back and forth on entering the Light Tank Campaign as my AFV M5A1 early Stuart was missing the T16 tracks as I used them for a conversion project last year. Just ordered a replacement set from Sprue Brothers, so I have no excuses. Will be catching up on the last 19 pages over the next few days.

My entry will be basically an OOB build of The AFV M5A1 Stuart Early version.

last year in december i signed up for this campaign and wanted to build a zvezda t-26, but some real life stuff came up and after a while i pulled out of the campaign thinking i wouldn't have time to build for a while.
Now i have some more time on my hands, so i signed up again.
furthermore i have gotten my greasy paws on a brand spanking new hobbyboss t-26 model 1931

not yet sure of what version or which paint job im going for, might be one of the kit supplied ones or either a finnish one or one in german service, or might make it into a command version

I've just started the AFV M5A1 early ver. A while back I purchased a set of AFV M36E6 tracks for another project, but never used them. I can't find any information of an early version using these tracks instead of the T16 tracks, as I used the original tracks on a M3A1 build last year. I would like to use the M36E6 tracks if it's historically accurate.

Thanks,
Joel

started the weathering with 3 colours applied by sponge... they were

1) dark grey
2) lighter RAL8000
3) lighter RAL7008

personally i think the effect looks better from a distance - fades the joins between the camo, dulls down and makes it look a "little" less toy like. For a first attempt its ok(ish)... Have some soft pastels for next - going to mix my own colours for sandy and look to apply.....

the grey "lid" on the LHS is to cook breakfast on.... found a video on youtube of a PzII in the desert - crew were frying eggs on that part and it was clean & dark - just went for a grey colour as couldn't see if it was base coat grey or bare metal (assume the latter).... just adds a touch of individuality...

as always, constructive criticism more than gratefully received

Hi everyone, I just read through the entire thread and love the photos of everyones build progress. I have a question, is the M41 Bulldog permitted for this campaign. I found one for $14.85 which is too good of a bargain to pass up.

The M41 Walker Bulldog was a U.S. light tank developed to replace the M24 Chaffee. It was named for General Walton Walker who died in a jeep accident in Korea. On 7 November 1950, the US Ordnance Committee Minutes (OCM) issued item #33476, redesignating the heavy, medium, and light tank, according to the armament; the 120mm (heavy) Gun Tanks, 90mm (medium) Gun Tanks, and the 76mm (light) Gun tanks

Go for it Bob!

John, thanks for the clarification. After looking at most of the builds here the M41 seemed too big for the campaign. I probably overthought.

almost done... added pigment (some artist pastels) - perhaps a too heavy and too dark so something for me to work on... think I have also been a bit heavy overall with the weathering - but i guess she looks used......

I think your weathering looks fine. Nothing wrong with a dirty tank. Afterall, they did play out side in the dirt.....

, there were car washes to tidy the tank up on Saturday, they just kept on going until either they were unable or they went to a depot to be repaired. The dirtier the better, and I love playing in the dirt.

Oh by the way nice looking tank. In my humble opinion I wish my mk1 had looked like yours.

After re-reading my reply to Robert I noticed that in my haste to submit I made a couple of mistakes it should have read [, there were no car washes to tidy the tank up on Saturday, they just kept on going until either they were unable or they went to a depot to be repaired. The dirtier the better, and I love playing in the dirt.

Again: Robert a very nice build thanks for sharing the photos with us.

BTW, I just ordered my entry for this campaign from Squadron for $11.99 could not pass it up at that price. 1/35 Master Box Panzerkampfwagen I Ausf. A 'Breda', I do not know much about this kit the price did all of the talking.

My kit arrived today, so I can start tonight. I have not built much for several months, this will take some stress off. Here is my entry.

Pkfw 1 Ausf. A "Breda", Master Box 1/35
Pkfw 1 Ausf. A "Breda", Master Box 1/35

@ Robert I type to fast for my brain to keep up with it, I need to do more proof reading before I submit.

Wow, Bob - that PzI A looks nifty! You can really see the Vickers/Carden-Lloyd influence on the German design.

Hello Tom, good to see you again.

I ordered this kit for $11.99 on Thursday 8/30/2012 amd it arrived this morning at 10:00am with regular postage. I have already started the kit by giving it a wash and assemblying the hull at the moment.

The kit comes with one set of markings which look like Spanish Civil War era, I have been looking at the paint that I have on hand to see if I can paint it from the bottle or if I need to mix up the colors.
