@ Tom: we can start the disillusioned build campaign.

Rules: 1. every part is drilled, shaved, sanded to fit.
2. the large pieces do not align.
3. the soft plastic does not sand in a manner that is condusive to look as if it helped in any way.
4. warpped parts that defy clamps of any strength.
5. just plain GREMLINESS on the kits part.

Any way what I see looks good so far and I will be anxious to see the finished product.

Happy building

Bob

I'm definitely up for that one! Got too many qualifying kits in the pile...

Phuc Phan, Your Sheridan looks great. Can't wait to see it painted and weathered.

Hi all,

Trying to make the finish line. I've put a first coat of paint and assembled the fruils. I tried using Blacken-it to weather the tracks, not too impressed by the results, maybe I needed to soak them longer.

Phuc - Beautiful work on the Sheridan, love the color graduation!

Nate

Nate, Don't worry, you have plenty of time left. You're way ahead of my M5A1 build.

started the weathering with 3 colours applied by sponge... they were

1) dark grey
2) lighter RAL8000
3) lighter RAL7008

personally i think the effect looks better from a distance - fades the joins between the camo, dulls down and makes it look a "little" less toy like. For a first attempt its ok(ish)... Have some soft pastels for next - going to mix my own colours for sandy and look to apply.....

the grey "lid" on the LHS is to cook breakfast on.... found a video on youtube of a PzII in the desert - crew were frying eggs on that part and it was clean & dark - just went for a grey colour as couldn't see if it was base coat grey or bare metal (assume the latter).... just adds a touch of individuality...

as always, constructive criticism more than gratefully received

Robert, your weathering looks fantastic. I'm so impressed with your effort, that I'm going to try the sponge method myself.

@ Joel: sorry about that I am having the senior moment not you, it was on your post but in reply to Robert.

@ Robert: maybe I have the correct person re: the DAK cooking eggs on a tank. Do you have the link to that youtube video?

Hi all
Calling this one done...
bit of a balls up with the matt coat, I applied a little too much so it left a few tide marks, not so noticeable but shows up more in the pictures. I also think I got the uniform a little mixed up both of these I can live with.
Great builds everyone looking forward to the next campaign.

Nice work Max! I really like the look of the stowage, really adds some color to the tank, track sag looks good too. Nice bucolic scene as well, maybe you should have a song bird perched on the Kwk 30.

Thanks,
Face painting is testing enough I think a bird may be a little too delicate, but I like the idea..
I use this base to display my builds, I was just practicing when I made it. I may have to make up a less peaceful one.
Cheers

Well, finally I finished up the M5A1 hull and suspension, and started work on the turret assemblies. Also started to assemble the T16 track kit that I had to purchase, as I used the kit supplied tracks on a M3A3 build.

I've been using Tamiya Extra thin to glue the tracks together, which seems to be working out very well. Once dry, I can still position the links without the tracks constantly coming apart, which was the case when I din't use any glue.

Unlike my recent DML builds, I've had to do a fair amount of putty work on the hull sections.

Here's a few pictures.

Here is the Pzkfw along side my KV-2 for another campaign (Blitzkrieg 4) that I am in. Look at the size differance, 20mm vs 152mm guns. WOW!

KV-2, Trumpeter 1/35

OK here it goes. I haven't built for a long time and work how it currently is I get little time to do so. This one has been a slow crawl and I didn't post progress because I was worried it would never finish! (PS: My camera is terrible)

This is the box I started at the start of the campaign.

It built with a layer of paint and stickers. I wanted to go for a brand new clean look which I have never done before. Most of my models are badly beaten or KO'ed. A mate challenged me to build a clean one so I did!

Pictures are links to larger ones.

Here is more of the same build:

The tracks glued but not painted. Man these things were frustrating. so tiny and kept getting stuck to the glue tip.

The end product. It's not in the same league as you guys on here but was a bit of fun to build. It actually came out pretty well but the camera struggles to do it any justice. I am thinking my next one I will go back to the KO'ed tanks. I like the results better.

@ DazzaD: quote[The end product. It's not in the same league as you guys on here but was a bit of fun to build.] all that matters was did you enjoy yourself, besides there is no league here everyone builds to a certain degree. Build for your self. I like your shading on the panel lines.

quote[The tracks glued but not painted. Man these things were frustrating. so tiny and kept getting stuck to the glue tip.] Do your fingers and thumbs hurt now, mine did for a few days after a build last year, those tracks were beastly. Your tracks look good, mine sometimes are off center it they gave me trouble or the bogies did not line up.

Just a quick update to my AFV M5A1 build. I spent the better part of the weekend building the 37mm cannon, which is a mini kit all by its self.

It looks so good that I decided to leave one turret hatch completely open and the other just partially open.

I noticed on some reference photos that there was support/weather striping which wasn't shown in the instructions, but is included in the kit. It took more time then I originally thought to clean it up, and install it prior to painting the interior flat white.

Bob, great job on yhat lil panzer, yeah it's small compared to the KV

Joel, nice progress on the M5. I built one of the AFV kits for this campaign and I had a lot of fun with it. I pretty much had to do the same filler work as you have done.

Thanks guys. The build was some fun, small armor and a clean build are both things I usually dont do.The only way to learn new things, is to try something new! Thanks for the comments
