I had thought this would be an easy weekend of relaxed building, but NO! I have sanded, drilled, reamed, filed, and shaved every piece that was assembeld also the soft plastic was hard to get to adhere and I used (3) different types of glue. Now I know why the kit cost $11.99. Here is where it stands at the moment.

Yes indeed Bob looks like your efforts were well worth it but wait until you get to those little individual link tracks are they in a bag or do you have to cut them off spruces

@ Sal: I had planned to send those indies to you Sal, let you punish your fingers then send the finished product back to me and attach to the tank. They are attached to a tree.
@ Robert and Sal: thanks for the kudos.

Bob,
Nice work on that little fellow, now where are those magic tracks when you need them.
I'm moving along on the Pz.35(t), I need to touch up the suspension after adding the tracks, scratch build an exhaust pipe and work on the stowage.

@ Nathan: I like your Pz.35(t), those tracks look espcially good are they indies or rubber band.
After my last attempt with indie tracks I was not looking forward to these, but they were the easiest part of the build so far no hurt to the fingers or thumbs and the tracks just slipped into place for me to place some glue. I do need a little advice, should I do ( 1 long piece, short pieces, half length on top of the bogies then aroung the return wheel and drive wheel then place a length on the bottom to match what is needed to complete the tracks)? Ok Sal where are ya when I need you?
Here is where I am at:

Bob, I'm right here I was waiting for a package to arrive
But it looks like ya doing fine on your own, I make to half lengths of the track 1 around the top and drive sproket and 1 for the bottom and return wheel
Hope I'm not to late

Bob,
The tracks are Fruilmodel, so workable independent links. I picked them up cheap on E-bay.

I've been following your questions and advice on building those individual link tracks, as you've been asking the same questions that I have.
I'm building the AFV M5A1 Stuart (got into this campaign just last month), and I'm using their T16 magic track kit. Going to go with two main sections of tracks as you guys described.
Thanks,
Joel

Robw, nicely done, with just the right amount of weathering. One gets the used but not abused feel to your build, which is how I personally prefer my models.

@ Robert: nice Pkw. II, I like the tarp what was you method?
@ Joel: the first time that I tried indie tracks the assembly hurt my fingers and thumbs for a week and still did not get a straight run. I had to just glue what looked like a full length on top and butcher the rest. Sals method helped and so for these are cooperating with only one little hiccup under the first road wheel in front, but looks ok.
@ Sal: thanks buddy for the tip/help.

So far I've got a 30 link section done. Using a home made jig so it's straight. My goal is to have the tracks ready to go when I'm done with the hull assembly, which is 80% done at this point.

Robert,
Very nice finish on the Pz II, I too like the moderate weathering. I plan on building the Tasca 1/24 Pz II kit for the Large Scale build next year so this is a nice reference.

The right side turned out pretty good.
Ok! pretty much done,I plan on applying a coat of Mr. surfacer 500 then a base coat of grey and finally the yellow grey green shown on the markings page. Notice that I had a little hiccup on the left side with one bogie not lining up enough to let some track align with the rest .
Oh well I can hide it with some mud , now to find the aircompressor and airbrush to see if they are in running order.

Rob, great job on the Panzer II - i think it looks great in it's DAK scheme. Although I don't have any written proof, but from photos it appears the main gun remained in gun metal colour, just like the mg.

Jack

thanks all..
@Jack i think you mentioned the gun.. i can have a look at that again (the MG was painted black an then had pencil lead rubbed over the top. should be easy enough to do on the main gun)
@BobR - the tarp is actually the flag, printed on normal inkjet paper, soaked in watered down PVA glue and draped over the rear. I then painted over the flag in oil (I use water based oils) to get the colour and shading I wanted.... I know it is probably not 100% historically accurate as it should be a swastika but I was learning a new technique. Now feel I can drape tarps on other builds (maybe over my Stug III gun or perhaps as winter protection for the Pak 38 mounted on the Demag 7 (again, dont know if that happened but can imagine in stoage or when in the rear during very heavy snow to protect the gun...)

With my Panther build ready for paint, I took the Luchs with me to Club Night and spent an enjoyable couple of hours swearing at the poor fit of parts! Still, I now have a box, ready for all the other details. (Had to wash & scrub it TWICE to remove the grease...)
If it looks like this when I'm done it'll be a miracle!
Virtually every part needed shaved or sanded to fit, and the hull floor was badly warped so serious clamping was deployed. And forget about the gun elevating!
Can't wait to tackle the tracks...
Tom

@ Tom: we can start the disillusioned build campaign.
Rules: 1. every part is drilled, shaved, sanded to fit.
2. the large pieces do not align.
3. the soft plastic does not sand in a manner that is condusive to look as if it helped in any way.
4. warpped parts that defy clamps of any strength.
5. just plain GREMLINESS on the kits part.
Any way what I see looks good so far and I will be anxious to see the finished product.
Happy building
Bob

@ Tom wow sounds like a big problem of a kit, I wouldn't want to tackle those tracks
