I worked on the OT-34 last night and got it started. Assembly has gone well so far and the quality of the kit is very good. First -34 I have done from the Dragon series. Dragon apparently had to incorporate sprues from several other T-34 kits to get everything needed for the OT-34 variant so there is a ton of -34 parts left over for the spares box. Going to try and get the rest of the kit PE on the hull today and get the few seams on the tank cleaned up.

Regards, Ian

ok, an update.
Tracks have a base coat of Tamiya red brown. After seeing them dry, i see that i should have probably sprayed them black first.
I started assembling the thoma shields and mounts. Lots of small pieces to cut, clean and glue. The mesh used for the shield is a P.I.T.A. to work with. Then trying to glue the upper and lower pieces to the mesh is also troublesome. I tried clamping the upper piece to the mesh and using a super thin CA, but it ended up making a mess.
I used a thick CA on the lower piece, with a clamp and tape to hold it in place. But then the mesh kind of pulled apart at the ends. It's all trial and error with these. (for me anyways.

It has been a number of weeks, but I finally got some time to work on my Panzer IV. I had to fill a number of voids between parts but I got it smoothed out and painted with its main color. Next comes the treads and everything else that gets bolted to a Panzer IV.

Well, I was originally going to brush paint the rubber wheels, that didn't go so well. next I decided to try cutting masks to spray the rubber on, we will see how that goes.

Cheers Rob.

There are some great builds here - keep it going guys!

I have taken on board all the comments and added more dirt fading and general grime, and now I am DEFINATELY calling this build COMPLETE.

These Thoma shields are kicking my ass. I redid one, and built 3 more, and preceeded to screw up one of the recently built.

I'm running out of the supplied mesh. I might just put on any of thegood ones and leave off crap ones.

Nice progress here by everyone
@ Rob your tracks are looking real good what color/process did you use on them
@ Marc maybe you can make the screwed up 1's look like battle damage
@Anthony nice clean build there looking forward to seeing it with paint
@ Jon much better with fading grime it dont have that showroom new look to it anymore
@ Ian coming along nicely and having fun with photoshop too
@ Martin good and dusty there looking well used, might just want to hit the top of the boggies and the insides of the front fenders with some more dust as well

But again we are not even 3 months into the campaign and we have some really great work here, keep at it guys

Here's today's update, this one was being a little left behind, but today I'm a bit lazy... listening to some old Deep Purple records and working on my Panther F.

Started working on the top hull.

and finished the last details on the lower hull too.

I have thought about it. It strays from my original idea to keep the panzer looking like a newly arrived at the front/ rear area. Also, there are not a whole lot of photos of real IV Js with the mesh (at least that i have found) shields, damaged or not.
I did notice one picture with a factory new looking PZIVJ with mesh that looks kind of crappy.
that might mean i'm ok!!
Small update, just for the hell of it.
Upper hull not glued to the lower.
Gah, I need to fix the paint on the wheels!

Thanks Sal!
I first sprayed them with the color I mixed for the road wheels then sprayed a rust mixture I made.

Cheers Rob.

Hej Andy

I recently build and painted that kit too, and it was indeed a nice kit but pretty much all of Dragons 1/72 sets are awesome

Looking forward to see how you tackle the painting

Steph, a really nice job on your Sherman. You sure got done with it mighty fast. I just got done with the lower hull minus the tracks on my M4A3.

Hello Everyone, I have been watching this thread with interest, but haven't got around to posting my entry yet. Lots of other stuff I have had to do.

Anyways when I joined the campaign I had the perfect kit in mind.

Its the Cyber-Hobby Sea Vixen FAW.1 in 1/72 scale, and its the kit I won in the December drawing. Which is why I chose it.

here is the start photo.

Just checkin' out your handy work over here John on the Panther F and it's looking really good!

So what Deep Purple do you like the best? "Machine Head" or "Made In Japan"? I took a shot at those two since they both have "Lazy" on them and yes, I have all the Deep Purple stuff.

At least the good stuff. Keep up the good work!

Delbert, I'm a little confused. This is a Dragon OOB campaign, Your kit is by Cyber-Hobby. Is that a division of DML?

eheheh Jeff,
It was the Machine Head album and a Copenhagen 72 Concert.
I have all their stuff, I prefer the MkII period

Here's a shot I took from this afternoon Panthermania...

Hope there will be a Space Truckin' Campaign !!

Joel

I'm not sure of the exact relationship of the branding or names myself but a lot of the newer release Dragon kits are Cyber-Hobby.

so Cyber-hobby = Dragon = DML says so on the box..

Delbert..
