HELP!
So it seems that my treads are almost 1 centimeter too short. Have any of you come across this outrage and found a way to fix it?

I was able to get the tracks on the tank by stretching them and using CA glue to bind them to the wheels. I do not recommend this method for a Panzer IV or a Sherman because the tracks took a couple of the wheels off of the model in my first two attempts. I also broke one of the tracks. But, after a while I was able to get everything to stay put and it looks decent.

This one is finally ready for paint,Magic tracks and all.assembly had a lot of parts but fit was good and build was not difficult.Granted,I couldn't deal with the smallest pieces of PE,but I am happy with the outcome so far.

Hey gang!
I haven't forgotten about this campaign but put the Early Chi Ha aside while I finished up some builds for other campaigns and also a few build reviews.
As I mentioned a while back, I found several sources that mentioned that Japanese tanks were camouflaged at the factory by hand. As such I had to redo the soft edge camo to look the part. I have also done some detail painting and added the yellow camo stripes. Here's the progress to this point.
Next up will be a bit of touch-up here and there and then the coat of Future and decals.
Cheers,
Jan

Here we are. Just a few touch ups and decals and we are done.
The spare wheels were too big to fit in their storage area but after sanding a millimeter off of them I was able to fit one of them in there. The wheels are too wide to get both in. The tracks came out okay, even after being stretched, broken, and severely glued to the wheels.

Anthony - Nice looking build. And how do you keep your cutting board so clean, mine lasts that way about 15 minutes....

Hello Sal,thanks and a great campaign you are running. As far as the tracks go,I glue the whole run together short by just a few links using Testors liquid cement in the black plastic bottle, not the stuff in the glass jar.I keep straightening and flattening them with 2 straight edges as I go along. Then I wait about 40 minutes for them to dry some. Then I wrap the entire length around the sprockets an road wheels,I stick in Q-tips to get the sag and let it dry over night. Then take em off paint them and weather.
I'm actually starting to get use to them now !!

A little late to join up but we just finished a move and I'm just digging out the modelling gear. I'm going to attempt to do the 10.5cm Sturmhaubitze 42 Ausf. G. time to see how Dragons zimmerit looks.

Never thought about using Testors liquid glue in the black plastic container. I've struggled with Magic tracks time and time again using Tamiya's Extra thin, which dried way to fast, and as a result, I broke the links off time and time again. Tried Elmer's White glue, but it didn't bond the links together well enough, and again I pulled the links apart time when I had to stretch them. I've been really happy the last two builds to have those great one piece tracks that you can actually glue. Now I have a new weapon to try.

Well,i got lots of bits and pieces together.
Then i tried my hand at preshading and went a little overboard. I should have read some more before doing it. But it is a learning process.
Here is where i stand after 2 coats of the basecolor.
I really need some better lighting in my cave.
