Flat coat is on.
I need to focus on getting the drivetrain weathered first so i can get the Wire mesh scurzen mounted. I foresee many problems with those.

Looks outstanding Marc!! I will warn you, though, the sideskirts area a bear to get mounted on the vehicle. If I remember correctly, when I did my Ausf J the mounts that stick out perpendicular from the tank were too short and I had to make new ones. Anyway, great looking Panzer IV.....can't wait to see the finished product.

Well the top and bottom of the Stug went together quite nicely. But fitting the fenders on was a pain, as it doesn't seem to sit right, and the directions aren't clear at all for that step. It's going to take some work fixing the little errors that are going to show themselves after the paint dries. Live and learn I guess...

Marc it was the Dragon Ausf J they came out with a few years ago, however it was not a Premium Edition or Smart Kit.

Just got the cockpit assembled, and everything went into place smoothly, the only part that was a little trouble was getting the control stick into place, as the parts are kinda small in 1/72.
the Photo
Nice looking builds everyone, hope yall don't mind that I'm taking notes..

Well, this one is a wrap and posted in the gallery. Finished up with the CMK and MIG weathering pigments last night to depict one very cold, tired, worn OT-34 Flamethower Tank from the Eastern Front. I certainly have enjoyed seeing everybody's models in this campaign so far and this is a great group of modellers. Think I will hop back in this one over the summer because I have a Cyberhobby JS-2 screaming to get built.....still plenty of campaign time left!!!!!!!

A little more progress on the DAK Pz. IV. other than tracks, the assembly is done and will be getting a coat of Tamiya Hull red sometime this week. Then some desert browns and onto weathering!

Doug: Are all the tools glued on? I built a Panzer IV earlier this year & waited until it had been painted to throw the tools on. Just trying to figure out which process works better

Some paint on the SSy deck!
Started to brush paint:
Then realized an AB might be the way to go:
Yep, better with some Raw Umber washes:
And some weathering. Very much thinned flat black for the oils spots (the pic is a lot lighter than in RL):

Well, I had a slight mishap tonight.
I was dry brushing the lower hull and the panzer fell of my mount. Broke two brackets and knocked off four scurzen mounts. Minimal damage, but i am tired of fixing these pieces.
Thanks for the compliment.

Hi Folks,
Turn your back for a few moments and two pages worth of builds appear! I shall just say...outstanding work by all the contributers and this is a most interesting campaign to be involved in, well done everybody...
I have done the washes, pin washes and dry-brushing on the Jagdpanzer and it is now ready for hairspray and white paint. I shall be doing that over the next week and will post pictures of that process as I do it. Here are the photos for the progress so far....
Well that's it for now, I will be making my hobby room smell like a hairdressers over the next few days, I will have to find some unscented hairspray, the smell is just too much - how do the women cope with spraying it on their heads, one of life's mysteries I guess.
All the best,
Paul

Paul, your camo pattern is outstanding. I like the subtleness (if that is a word!!!) of it.
The wash on the fenders seems to have really taken. I couldn't get mine to work that well.

Hi Marc,
Thank you for your very kind comment. I do exclusively 1/72 scale and always give my camouflage schemes a final spray with a very, very dilute solution of Dunkelgelb. It is a sort of sprayed on filter and serves to knock down the brightness of the colour to a more scale effect. I use MIG washes and find them very good, both for general washes and pin washes.
All the best,
Paul

Me again.
got a little more done on my Sea Vixen
Just got some painting done on the cockpit.
I also used a little artistic interpertation to add a bit of color to the cockpit. I looked at photos of the real aircraft and other than the switches it was black. I added bits of color, to add interest to anyone who bothers to try and see inside. Not that you will be able to see much once everthing is in place and the canopies are in place.
there is no way I'd be able to detail all the tiny dials and switchs in 1/72. and they prob would not be seen anyways.
and also got some assembly done and its starting to look like an aircraft. The cockpit is in place, got the 2 airframe halves glued together. I am modeling what I think is the speed brake, directly under the cockpit in the closed position. and the 2 rocket pods are in place.
lol and I think I'm the only one doing an aircraft for this one.. unless I missed a build somewhere.

Hi Folks,
Just a quick update on my Jagdpanzer. I have used the 'Hairspray' technique to produce a well worn and chipped winter whitewash, this is the second time I have done this technique and find it really theraputic getting all the chipping done, I thoroughly recommend it. I have to do some chipping on the side-skirts using the 'Sponge' method and then some streaking. I will then only have to paint all the details to complete the upper hull. That leaves the lower hull to be muddied up, I will be trying out a method suggested by a fellow modeller as it sounds interesting, coffee grounds.... the stuff left in the filter dried out and added to the mud mix to give it a bit of texture. I will let you know how it works out. Here are the photos....
