Torsten - that's the first time I've heard of anyone using Parafilm for general masking! I got some to do canopies a while back, but I could never get it work right! How do you manage to get a straight line with it around the fuselage? I couldn't even stretch it evenly!
All builds coming on nicely. Greg - your diorama imagination is in top gear again!
WIll be back soon with the FW190. When I get that wheel root sorted it should fly together.Pardon the pun!

Torsten, the ME262 is coming along very nicely. I haven't built any airplane kits since I was a kid, but the 262 has always been one of my favorites.
Jeff, I've built that AB41 kit before, but it was before I really knew what I was doing and it did not turn out well. Looking forward to seeing one that actually looks good!
Greg, can't wait to see your dio once it is finished. Looks like it is starting to really take shape.

Jeff: keep at it!!
Chris: nice photos. Where is that?
OK, I'm in on this one. The move has been delayed a few months, so hopefully enough time to figure this one out.
Hasegawa's P-40E Warhawk. The build will be OOB in Flying Tigers scheme, although I might add a base if time allows. I might also paint the spinner red, even if not historically accurate, because it just looks more cool. I did not properly account for needing to paint so early in the game. Will be on a steep learning curve on this one since I haven't built a plane since I was a kid, and then never seriously. They were usually just fodder for the firecrackers!!
Happy Modeling, -zon

She stands on her own without help!
all landing gears, antennas and the pitot is attached, so next step is Future, though I use Erdal Bodenglänzer as we don't get Future in Germany ....
Pete, I often work with Parafilm. It's excellent for covering fuselage bands or propeller hubs. Just cut it smaller and more than needed and start in the middle. Then careful stretch it to the limit while bending around and slowly go to the right and left end. It's really easy. For canopies I mostly use Eduard masks. They are not that expensive and pre cut, that makes it easy. If I need to cover some parts of the model I use Fineline Tape from Kip Tape. It's like Tamiya tape, also yellow, but made in Germany and so cheaper than the Japanese stuff. And 50 meters x 25 mm on the roll is another argument .....
Chris, where is this museum? That's really nice. I know we have an original Me 262 standing in a museum in Munich. The pilot escaped to Switzerland in the final days of the war and when the Swiss gave the aircraft back to Germany, it fortunatly was put in the museum instead of being scapped ....
Zon, enjoy your P-40! It's the best Warhawk kit you can get in 1/48. I've built some of them already. But keep the canopy closed, that's the only "low" of the kit.
Jeff, Parafilm M is a clear very flexible laboratory film which can be stretched 5 times to its original length and glues without glue. It's perfect to use for extreme curvatures like fuselage bands or propeller hubs. See the photo below. And yes, I made this frame on my own. It's often in use when I work on the underside of my kits. And it has seen many aicrafts already, believe me. It even fits for the huge P-61 Black Widow and PV-1 Ventura. Have a look at the last posting of this page.
Ehm .... 27 degrees is Fahrenheit, right? Here we have 0° Celsius (which is 32° F) and a bit of snow. Friday we had the first heavy snowfall this winter but yesterday it was a sunny winter day and most of the snow melted already ....
Happy modelling everyone!

Zon, you will love that -40 kit. Glad you are doing one.... One of the great unsung, important aircraft of WW 2.
Torsten, great looking 262. Beautiful work on the camo.
Best wishes, Ian

JT: 27 and no snow!! What are you doing with yourself? No driveways to shovel or icicles to tend... A little warm here yesterday and today, about 82. Should get some rain this week though, bringing the temp down to a balmy 81. The magma is getting close to bubbling out of the volcano though. Hope to get to see that.
Torsten: The 262 is looking really good!! Thanks for the tip on the canopy. Does the parafilm work for camo?
Ian: Thanks! Yes, the P-40 is my all time favorite fighter.
Happy Modeling, -zon

That factory dio is going to be something else. Can't wait to see it all come together.
Love the 262. Like seeing non-mainstream versions.
I have yet to build an Italeri kit that went together well. Hopefully that will be the worst fit issue.
Just received my resin wheels/tires for the BA-10. will post some pics of the chassis work in a few days.

Zon - Active Lava and Volcanos is a good time to leave the islands I think. Nice campaign choice
Torsten - the film tape looks tempting to try, great idea. The Me is looking great!
Jeff - No Fear
I hope to get more time to model Sunday

hi fellas glad you liked the 262 pics.
the museum is called evergreen air and space museum,it's located on the outskirts of Mcminnville Oregon and is the site of the Oregon historical model societies annual model competition.
it also is the home of the spruce goose and the size of that thing is amazing, they have a flying fortress as well.
if you ever get to Oregon the trip is worth it as they have so many historic pieces.
Chris.
PS. Jeff the checks in the mail.

My fictitious "Two-Sixtytwo" clearly sees the end of the assembly line ....
All decals are attached and I even found some kill marks in the spare box ....
Should be finished this coming weekend. The gun will get gun metal after the final coating ....

Jeff, thanks a lot for your kind words about my models Good to know you enjoyed looking at them. That's what they are here for.
Today I have sprayed the final coating on my "Happy Hunter" with a 50/50 mix of mat and semigloss. There are still some minor works to do like position lights and demasking the canopy. New pics in a few days. So stay tuned ....

Alright I'm in with this kit.
But there is a twist, as I have two of these kits my 8 yr old daughter is going to make the other one at the same time. She is very excited because she gets to use daddy's airbrush.

Here are a few shots of my BA-10 in work. The resin wheels are fantastic and have a lot of detail on both sides. A huge upgrade to the kit.

The $12 spent on them from Hobbyeasy was worth it just to not have to work with the kit's terrible vinyl tires (see my earlier post). The entire frame/tire/suspension is pretty much the same as their GAZ kit which I built ealier, so I knew what to expect. I am working on the Body now, and will give a report on any issues I run into.
