How likely is it that one of these could have worn a white wash?
Very likely, specially the earlier war type C halftracks. Lots of photos support that. But there were also a lot of vehicles whitewashed at the beginning of the last big German offensives in Hungary in 45 so basically any winter period in the war in the East anyway you could use whitewash. Not too many examples in the West though.

Thank you for the reply. I've been wanting to try a whitewash for awhile now. Figured this would be good practice.

Detail painting done. Decals and weathering next.
Still undecided about doing the white wash.
Cheers

Slow progress due to other builds.
Painted this driver (Resin from HobbyFan) - but when I tried it in place, it dont fit....arghh.
Anyone experienced that AFV-kits is "small"? (When I compare it with a 251/22 from Dragon it seems smaller. This is unbuildt so it might fool me)

I have found that there are very few driver figures that actually fit. I usually end up having to traumatically amputate the feet, since on the 251 you can't see that part anyway. I also usually have to bend them at the waist and also the elbows.

Dull cost on and decals, tracks also done. Haven't weathered yet. Still thinking of doing the white wash.
Cheers

Looks good to me. Effectively worn but obviously whitewashed without that bleached look.

Armorsmith & Tat - Thank you very much for the kind words. I really enjoyed doing that.. And now I'm going to have to force myself to not do that to every model I build! Hahah

Ok I'm calling this one done. Thank you for putting on this campaign. I've been finishing more and more that doing these campaigns is helping me get through my stash of models and it also keeps me motivated. So thanks again.
Here is my finished product. I added a little bit of mud/dirt.
Thanks for the good time and for the words of encouragement.
Cheers,
Dustin

Finally got this thing started while I wait for my Ki61 Tony's wings to dry:
Dashboard, cargo section and seats are just resting in place for dry-fitting right now.

I have been eyeing the Tamiya 250/9 in the stack for some years without ever actually building it. I got it out and thought it looked pretty good, simple enough for my basic building skills.
The fine folks at Archer Dry Transfers sent a set of transfers for "6th Panzer Division Sd.Kfz. 250/9 Ausf. B" which I would like to use for this campaign.
The markings look simple enough but the sheet with the transfers is somewhat breezy describing the paint it should have:
"Vehicle is finished in a late war three-color hard edged camouflage scheme of Dunkelgelb, Rot Braun and Oliv grun."
OK, I can guess at some of this like the colors but what would a "late war three-color hard edged camouflage scheme" look like?
Would this have been brushed on or sprayed?

Dustin-Love the way the whitewash has worn off. It looks really effective with it's patchiness.
Paul- The Tamiya 250/9 is a really nice kit to build. I built one years ago and remember thinking how easily it went together but with some nice detail in there. I've bought another one recently just because I enjoyed building it. Are you finishing it with the top opened up so you can see more?

As we've still got some time left I'm going to do a quicky build. I found a dio not long back of troops in contact debussing from a 251 so am going to pinch the idea. I've got a Tamiya 251D that I picked up cheaply that's a really straightforward build compared to the DML ones I've been building so should be fairly straightforward. I can understand the instructions for one unlike DML's mystery instructions where you wonder if the instructions are actually for the kit in the box. It's even worse for the 3 in 1 jobs! I've got a big box full of spares for 251's so I may replace some of the Tamiya bits with DML parts as the to be fair the detail's a lot better. Once I've made a start I'll stick some pics up.
