Nice finish on this one Mark. The canvas top is surely a killer!

Thanks, Tat.
Unfortunately, the colors of my mud pigments too closely match the base color I painted the undercarriage so not getting the contrast there that I wanted. But after my track disintegrated during the first round of pigments I don't dare got back over it again.

I'm on the last leg of finishing off my 251/7 now. I don't think the kit was a 7 but I've got a pile of the 3 in 1 jobs so I've been moving stuff between boxes and it's a bit all over the place. I needed another 251/7 for a dio I've got planned hence another one. I've built one for the Campaign 500 but that just needs the cam doing an a few final bits adding so I thought I'd spray them both at the same time. This ones been a bit of a nightmare due to the back end as it's a C. There were huge gaps and it didn't line up properly so I ended up cutting the bottom side plates off, gluing them to the top half of the hull and doing it that way. I've sanded it now so you can't see the joins but fitting the back doors is going to be tricky as they're supposed to be fitted at the same time as you mate the two hull halves.
I've done this one as an assault/demo section, hence the flamthrower and demolition charges in the stowage boxes. The D that I built is for a mining section. It wasn't until I looked at the photos I noticed an ugly mould line on the barrel of the flamethrower but it's a bit late now as the hull tops on. You shouldn't be able to see it now anyway but I know it's there which is annoying.
This is what I mean about having to glue the bottom of the back of the halftrack to the top. I spent ages trying to get it square and it just wouldn't have it.
I'll put some more pics up in the next couple of days as I'm hoping to get it finished by the weekend. Then I can start something else as I need to start building more stuff as I've had some cracking bargains on ebay over the last month. I've got no room left in my stash cupboards so the overflow in the corner of the living room is looking bad as there's about 20 kits piled up. When my mom visits she always comments "Do you really need all of these Karl?", which obviously I do lol
I just can't pass up on a bargain

Nice weathering there Atle. What colour did you use for the areas of steel exposed by wear as it looks really good?

Atle, thanks for that tip. I've got a bottle of that so will give it a try. Linus, I'm waiting for one of those to arrive having won it on ebay for £8.50 last week. In fact I bought pretty much everything the bloke was selling as no-one else seemed interested in his stuff. I got £170 worth of kits for just over £36 plus P&P. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with them but they were that cheap I couldn't resist them
I've pretty much finished the 251/7C. All I need to do now is the number plates which I loathe doing due to DML's stupid PC way of doing SS markings where they're split in twos so that you have to marry up the top of the SS with the bottom. It would be bad enough doing it if they were in 1/16th but 1/35th scrambles my eyes! I'm having a break from half tracks once this ones finished as I've got a couple of Panthers to work on. I've still got a few months left to do another

I was considering jumping into this campaign but don't know what to build. I don't want to do what most everyone else is doing as the more variety the better, I say. I have the following to choose from:
All 251s, all 1/35, mostly Dragon with some Zvezda and AFV -
/1 Ausf B Stuka Zu Fuss
/2 Ausf C Morser
/3 Ausf B Mittlerer Funkpanzerwagen
/6 Ausf C Command Vehicle
/7 Ausf D Pionierwagen
/9 Ausf D Kanonenwagen
/16 Ausf D Flammpanzerwagen
/17 Ausf D with 2cm Schwebelafette
/17 Ausf C Command Vehicle (the Dragon 2in1)
/20 Ausf D Uhu (inaccurate, I believe)
I also have the Dragon 3in1 with the Ausf D that has the infrared setup but I'm not ready to fix the errors in that one yet.
So, what version is under-represented?

Tamiya 1/48th or 1/35th, do the SdKfz 251 and or Stuka Zu Fuss kits include a decal with the name Sofia (any spelling) in it?

Jerry, I think I'm going to have to get one as my eyesight is crap these days. I'm longsighted which makes it worse as by the very nature of the hobby it's all close up work. I think I'm going to have to make the investment. Plus the light in here's not the best so I use an angle poise lamp when I'm doing figures as it's the only way I can see the detail.

Shell off the top of my head I've only seen the 7 and 9 off your list so far. Anything will do however :-)

When I bought my optivisor the owner of the shop patiently explained that it was worth it to add the lighting kit onto the sale. I was a bit skeptical as I always am when a store keeper is trying to sell something but this guy was always honest and I went ahead and boght the lighting kit and it is awesome! My painting prowess had gone down a lot when I took time away from the hobby and I was a bit down about it until I realized the batteries had worn down and the lights were very dim. New batteries and BAM. Night and day.
We ain't gettin any younger dude.

You can also go on google and find Greymatterfigures as they sell a conversion in resin for the 251 /11 telecom halftrack. This includes some wire spools and carriers that were also used on some of the command/radio versions mounted on the front fenders.
Just sayin,

That came out a treat Joe! Lots of nice detail added and a convincing 'hand-applied' camo.
