Any chance of printing a couple of 1/35 Jerry Can racks for the front (left & right) fenders of a WWII Kfz.12/15 Horch? I can provide some reference images.

—mike

I can check it out. I can't find any pictures of what you need though.

Here you go.

[Edit: 4 Images deleted due to former host linking issues]

Note: Due to the complexity of the fender curves, you could leave the legs long and I could trim them as needed.

TIA,
—mike

I've started the M1068 APU. I have the basic shape. It's adding the details that will take a while

I'm really looking forward to this one. Great job on everything else, too!

Me too. I can't wait to build an M1068A3 FDC track, with full interior.

This is the M60A3 crosswind sensor I drew up. Is this acceptable? It definitely isn't the right size but it can be scaled appropriately.

And this is the M1068 APU in the works.

Very cool on both. The crosswind sensor cover looks right to me.

@Miike Freeman: racks like that are best done with your own ingenuity with styrene, I feel. In my experience, attempts like this don't print out well.

Plus, it won't be worth the 3d designers' time and effort to make this due to its extremely limited market.

I got 3d printed empty spare wheel holder for a 1/35 Tasca M32 ARV. It was extremely feeble and I couldn't sand out the ridges. I ended up fabricating my own with styrene.

The bottles are going up in the shop soon. Does anyone have the right diameter for the crosswind sensor? I think the current diameter is 2-5mm but I'm not sure if that's the right diameter in 1/35.

I suspected that might be the case. I already scratched a rack for another vehicle but the thickness just didn't seem to scale properly. Time to up the game on my scratch-building skills, I guess.

Thanks again for taking the time to respond. BTW: That's some amazing work you're up to.

Thank you. If the scratched part is too thick for the scale, then I think the 3D printed part would also be too thick. To be printable, the part would need to be at least .6 mm thick. I think your best shot would be PE if that's the case.

Also, an update on the APU

Final update on the APU.

The front and back two top panels are separate. The rear two are one piece.

Unfortunately it costs about $35 for one. I need to make it hollow to hopefully make it more affordable.

Maybe some upgrade tracks and bogeys for the Revell 1/144 M-47 Patton, HS-30 armored vehlcles, and Shermans, as well as stewring wheels for the trucks. Sold in sets of threes.

Tow shackles of various sizes - I move a lot and they always fall off and are rarely found.

I think that there are already tow shackles sets out there.

And I hollowed the APU. It's now $13.01 for FUD and $18 and change for FXD.

MIke,

Thanks for remembering that I have several sets of shackles available:

https://www.shapeways.com/shops/downrangeproductions1-35th-scale

I can do other sizes... but the .022" wide is the smallest that will print!!!

M1068 APU ordered. I can't wait to see how it turns out.

Any update on the progress on the SINCGARS set(s)?

There was a hiccup with the APU model. Some parts were too thin and they were adjusted. I don't know if it's completely been solved to be considered printable by the techs but it's been adjusted to fit the minimum requirements.

That's great, looks just like the ones on our Canadian M577A3's too. One less thing to scratch-build...

Cheers,
Jim

Glad I could help and provide the model. I'm also going to be getting back into the SINCGARS model. If anyone has any pictures that can be offered, that can not be found online (I think I've seen as much as can be seen), I'd love to take a look to see if they'll help me in this project.

I am taking a look but I'm not too sure there is much I can use directly. Positioning and whatnot I can get from the pictures though.

The M1068 APU seems to be good now. It passed initial inspection and is listed as "In Production" at Shapeways. Can't wait to see how it turns out.
