Hi Hermon! This is from my post on the 10th of May:

The picture is found in Hellströms "J26 Mustang", page 165. The caption reads"The Suez crisis in 1956. Note that the rockets are of British rather than US type".

Cheers!

Great! Thanks PolarBear. I have a set of rockets from a Hasegawa kit that are almost identical to those except that the warheads are a bit smaller. It won't be exactly correct but it should be close enough.
I'll try and post an update picture of my P-51 this weekend when I have more free time.

Hi all!

Here is a small update of my Avenger build:

I will mask and paint the rudder strips next and maybe paint the french Navy dark blue color... let's see if I manage to do this today...

Hi all!

I've just sent all participants a private message (spam?!). I hope I didn't forget anyone! - The reason is simple: This thread is growing out of proportion (almost 250 entries and 5.000 views in two months) and I'm planning to open a new one on Sunday. As an opening post, I wan't to have a revised - and possibly correct - list of entries.

So if any of you LURKERS out there wish to enter - now is a great time for you to step up to the plate!

There is still four whole months to go!

TedMamere - It is great to see such progress, Jean-Luc! I remember the last pic of the not so smooth exterior! Allez les Bleus!

India11A and Pedro - For a brief moment, I thought I knew what you guys were talking about... I didn't know that ground targets were so complicated! :-)

gbkirsch - Thanks for posting, Gary! I love those tanks!!! Given your info, I will count the JS-III as a finished entry. The M47, however, is just a bonus. And I am truly looking forward to your SU-100!

Red4 - Wow! The Classic Airframes 1/48 Canberra B.2!!! That will be soo awsome! Great choice!

I hope you're all keeping busy in the summer heat!

Cheers!

Thanks PolarBear. You have it correct. The French M47 is just eye candy for roving Egyptian Migs. The JS-lll and the just barely started SU-100 are for the campaign.

I'm looking forward to a great campaign!!!

Hi Björn,

thanks for pushing a bit for an update! I have unfortunately not gotten to a start yet with my build - but my goal remains, for now an Israeli Mystère in 1/72 (Revell/Matchbox)! I am going on holiday on tuesday, am just writing my last essay of this study semester; so now more building will be made

Best Regards, Peter

Hi all

A couple of pics of my entry. Just a couple of .50 cals and a figure to add and it's finished.

Had fun making the water

Cheers

Hi Dus!

I can imagine that! :-) But it was worth the hard work because it looks good!

here's a little progress on my... errrr... our Avenger.

I first painted the rudder blue/white/red stripes and then painted the plane dark blue. After that, I applied a coat of future. During the half-time of the Brazil-France World cup game (1-0 for France! ), I started to apply the masks for the yellow/black stripes. I'll do the rest tomorrow...

Thanks Jean Luc and Gary,

Jean Luc, did you mask the tail markings to get the lines or are they a decal? It looks painted to me.

Cheers

Aherrm! I'm afraid I stick to years. Everything will grind to a halt here due to a business trip to China for a few weeks. Anybody here who might know where in the country Trumpeter has their factory? Beijing, Shanghai or out in the bush? Or are they maybe Taiwanese? It might be possible to find one or two odd things if they have an outlet :-)

Anyway. Mustang #38 is grey and brown, but my cam is packed so I wait with the update until mid august. Hopefully I've decided the right shade of blue until then.

Got to say that the landing craft is way cooler in the water. Nice work!

Dus, the stripes on the tail and the yellow/black ones on the model are masked then painted. I don't think I could do it better with decals.

I will do the decalling next, then the panel lines and little weathering. Finally a coat of future to blend all this together and the model will be ready to be shipped back to Sweden! Björn will have to do the final work: glue the landing gear, place the propeller and add the antennas and aerial wire

Gary, Dus, Jean-Luc,
you guys are turning out some beautiful models.
Gary, those tanks are sweet! The weathering and attention to detail, especially on the tracks is great.
Dus, that water effect is awsome! I can't wait until I get some of these campaigns under my belt so that I can try something like that.
Jean-Luc, having painted stripes on several models now, I know first hand that it's not as easy as it looks. The bands around the fuselage are especially tricky to tape off correctly. You've done a beautiful job, nice, straight, and CLEAN lines all the way round.

Beautiful work everyone! I must admitt that I was suffering a bit of "burn out" lately but seeing these examples of quality work has gotten me back in the mood to finish my little Mustang.

Hey all,

I putted the Venom aside for a while, because I'm strugling with scratching the interior.
So I started with the 1:72 Heller T6 in the meanwhile:

It so... YELLOW!

now i know why most models are molded in gray. :-)

that must be very distracting to work on.

Looking good otherwise, but I can't wait till you get some paint on the outside of it.
