Jean-Luc, PolarBear,
Thanks for the offers!
18Bravo PM'd me earlier today and offered me his 1/48 P-51 kit with the Israeli decal set so if he's still in the mood to sell it I think I'll take him up on it. It would be easier and much quicker to ship the kit for him since he lives here in the states. So, that way I'll get started on it sooner. Lord knows I need all the extra time I can get. Again, thanks for the offers.
So as it looks right now PolarBear, you can count me in with another P-51D for this campaign.
18Bravo, I PM'd you a minute ago with some info. Just let me know how you'd like to do this deal.

VonCuda - Great to have you on board!
Let's face it, folks. The last list didn't survive that long! Here's an updated version:
Please note that we now have as many Mustangs as we have Wyverns! However, we still lack some great subjects!
TedMamere - The French Avenger will be in the mail this afternoon. Make us proud. And make sure to paint it dark blue! Am I right, Yoghurt? :-)
Cheers!

Hi there
I'll need to scratchbuild the F-84F cockpit for my old Heller kit and I wonder if anyone can track down some colour reference pics. I've found B&W shots - and plenty of shots of models which just confuse matters with conflicting talk of either Interior Green or Gray as the overall cockpit colour. My gut-feeling is for Gray in a 1950s cockpit - but some pics of the real thing to confirm it one way or another would be a great help.
It's frustrating - I took shots of the Greek F-84F last summer, but the canopy was in such poor condition, you couldn't see any detail inside! :-(
All the best

hi merlin - the only color f-84 cockpit photos i can find are of an E and G respectively, but i suspect you can use them to help for the basic colors, which should be the same (gray walls, black instrument panel).
F-84E:
F-84G:
(loos like the cockpit is so worn that zinc chromate primer is showing thru the gray?)

Finally, to GaryKato Do you feel that that Sea Hawk of yours get overwhelming I can take care of that aircraft instead since I found one in the stash today while digging around for rockets (which I finally found in an Academy Typhoon kit).
I have to admit that I don't think my skills are up to fixing everything wrong with the Airfix kit. I have read some about the Special Hobby kit and will switch to that.

We have one more armour entry! A JS-3, no less! The Egyptians had a few of these beasts in 1956.
I don't have the energy to update the whole list one more time today, so i'll just post this:
Welcome to the campaign, Pedro!
Ps. Does anyone know if the Dragon M50 IDF Super Sherman kit is still available?

It's on Ebay fairly often, however, the HVSS suspension in the kit wasn't used until '61. You'd have to use an M4A3 or M4A4 hull with VVSS suspension (mixes of solid, pressed, and spoked wheels would be acceptable), and the turret/gun from the Dragon kit.
If you don't want to use two kits to build one model you can just build an M4A1. Non upgunned Shermans were called M1's, like this one:
The markings are post 1956 however.

I thought I'd join this campaign, but better check on if the subject would be allowed... to do something a little different, and to keep the peace between combatants, how about a Mk 1 Ferret in Canadian UN markings?

P.S Did the British forces use the Hunter F6 in the Suez, they became operational at about that time, but i don't know if they were deployed ?
to my knowledge, only Hunter F.5s were used in op. musketeer, but i'm not a real expert on the subject.

Hi Vance
Many thanks for the colour shots of the 'E and 'G. That does look like Gray in the former - and I read one item saying NATO 'Fs had Gray cockpits. It's surprising how few pics of the real thing seem to be out there...

Great idea, Rob! The UN sign in the list was originally meant as an abbreviation for UNdecided, but both your and 18Bravos request made read up on the history,

Ps. 18Bravo - Which countries used the M3A1?
Ps2. Dang. This way I could have entered a Swedish subject...

18Bravo - I read that the Dragon M50 Super Sherman has over 700 parts! And on top of that, you say that there is some serious kitbashing needed! Sounds a little bit to rough for me, I'm afraid, as I have never built armour before. Hopefully, someone else will pick up on a M1 or a M50 Sherman...
Cheers!

I don't have a list of all of the countries that used them. I only have two photos of them in Jugoslav service-one in January of '57, shortly after the Israeli pullout, in Jugoslav markings; and one in April of '59 painted white. No idea when they started painting them white, but if it's acceptable, I'd rather do one in white. It IS a White Scout Car after all.

I do have decals for an Israeli Mosquito PR. XVI with Suez stripes. If manage to get a hold of the Airfix PR.XVI kit, i will send you the decals free of charge.
EDIT: Oups! I checked again and noticed thet the decals are for a Suez-marked TR.33 (I don't know which kit would be best to make one of those...)
well, if someone is interested in doing a PR.XVI and wants to use the Tamiya kit instead of the Airfix, there is a CMK conversion set. One is currently listed on Ebay

CDNracer: I found a nice Ferret site here.
18Bravo: A Jugoslav M3A1 participating in UNEF I is ok! If I could decide, all UN vehicles should be white!!!
Here is today's update of the list...
It sure feels good having some peace keepers around (given the massive amount of firepower that is gathering on all sides of this campaign)!
Only UNEF I will be approved. Unfortunately, that excludes the beautiful Swedish white Harvards that were stationed in Lebanon during the 1958 UNOGIL operations. Maybe the next campaign...
Cheers!

Did the Egyptians had some IS-3's???
Wow, that sounds very tempting....
But first my Venom have to be finished!
Still searching the net for good cockpit details and pictures.
I'm bound for scratchbuilding the cockpit. But it will become a 'simplified' version of it, but thats bether than no cockpit at all.

Good evening friends!
A quick update before bedtime:
Fuselage glued together and working on the wings.
Not much will be seen of the interior when the canopy is in place so look carefully while you can!
Rocket launch stubs were stolen from a Tamiya Mosquito (being built as a BOAC aircraft so it has no need for them anyway) and will be cleaned up when glue has set thoroughly. The rockets from the Mosquito are AP rounds, I will use HE from a Typhoon kit instead.
I made a simple drilling template to get the stubs evenly spaced, sadly the back row was just a bit too far back. The stub farthest out overlaps the flap a bit but I can live with that...
This is a lovely kit; I will certainly do more of them and I really recommend it!
Regards
Magnus

Hi Bjorn.
I picked up a set of Egyptian decals today at Hannants for a Spitfire but the roundels should be the same size and therefore suitable for the Sea Fury.
I had a quick look at my other PM model and the dry fit was awfull,,so when I get home (in a month ),I'll have a closer look at the Sea Fury and decide if Im going to go with that or choose something different.
Watch this space,,but not for a few weeks :-)

Well folks, I'm off for a ten day vacation in the US.
The only activities that I have planned relating to modelling is a visit to the USS Intrepid in New York and purchasing a bottle of the original "Future". Other than that, I'll be mostly sipping beers, meeting friends and watching baseball (I got tickets for Red Sox vs Yankees at Fenway!)
I've received word that we have one more Egyptian Il-28 entry in this campaign!! I'll let Rickard introduce himself, once he finds his way to this thread. :-)
I ask you to behave nicely during my abscence! No messing around!
One last update before my trip. The list is getting rather impressive, don't you think!
Cheers!
Magnus - Your progress is looking very good! Great attention to detail! PolarBear very impressed!
Lampie - PolarBear sad... PolarBear don't want to loose Sea Fury... PolarBear knows lampie will do heck of a job when he is back!
(Ps. Is this going to be you first metal finish?)

Hi all!
Rowan, thanks for the link! I agree the Restaurant is wonderful. I like the design of it very much and the food seems to be to the same standards! Miam! Miam!
I think we should do the next Aeroscale meeting in Nigel's Restaurant! Anyone building a 1:1 scale private jet? :-)
