1⁄35Ardennes 1944 - Ridin High!
When this was all done I installed the fence, made from 2x2 mm strips and
attached the barbed wire to it, made from old tangarine-crate nets. Placed the
road sign, was in the Peiper group box. Then sprayed the whole with another thin
layer of Burnt Sienna. As an encore, because I thought it was a little bare, I
added a telegraph pole from an old Italeri kit and placed it on the diorama, the
wire hanging from it made from stripped electrical wire. And for dessert put the
crow from the scrap-box on the telegraph pole. Last, I gave the road part two
layers of acrylic furniture lacquer. This is a water-based lacquer used on pine
furniture (brand is unknown). Now placing the figures. Of course I had planned
the positions of all figures and models up front to prevent further
difficulties. That was the nicest part of the whole project. As a finishing
touch I made a title shield on the computer.
Well, now the diorama is all finished and on to the competition. Two days before
the competition I was done with this diorama. It was a lot of work, but that’s
the challenge for me. My next project, and I’m already working on it, is going
to be a diorama with at least 8 HP and a lot of figures and 2 gas guzzlers and a
piece of handcrafting. I don’t want to give away too much or the surprise will
be gone. Meanwhile people can monitor my building skill improvements on my
website surrounding the building of a bunker on the Pointe du Hoc. And all that
surrounds it.
