Bill, the machine gun in the last pic you posted definitely looks like a German MG3, not an M240--the barrel and muzzle are quite distinctive. Strange...

I thought it was an MG3 as well. Do you know if the US has these metal insignias on berets? Could they be German soldiers?

Actually I think they are from Spain. They use a mix of European and US weapons. At first I thought they were Airsofters but didn't get a good look at the weapons.

Hey, has Matte ever finished his Dumvee? Every time I see this thread up I'm waiting to see some type of update but it never comes.

Thanks William! I've searched for more of this particular Humvee's pic and it turns out that it's stationed at an event called ExpoMil held in Romania...
Ok this is a bit off topic but...

See this guy posing with a Humvee...
Now check him out from a different point of view... Coincidence!
Was just browsing through Army Recognition and i found him familiar "hey! isn't this the guy i saw at Flickr?"

I don't know. I just build it because it was a special version. I couldn't find any pictures of it to.

Well, I guess if Stanley thinks they're Spanish, that's as good a guess as any. I would've guessed US Air Force. Of course, I haven't seen one of them since '03.
It IS an MG3 by the way.

Sorry to disagree Russell. Here's the armor variant depicted by Academy :
You can see that the armor panel is larger, and the armored door is different as well...

Hoho no problem at all! I thought the I.E.D version was only one of a kind... Seems like the humvee has hell many variants! I'm already having trouble with my current one, complications with the back area. Any one has pics of SF humvees retaining the sloped back?

Just came across this heavily modded Humvee which on first sight made me mistook it for a Land Rover.

Definitely looks like a 1/6th scale G.I. Joe Humvee to me..

I found what seems to be an SF guy's photo album of his missions... It includes decent close ups of their Humvees...

I periodically PM Matt Black but have never heard back from him. I too would like to see how these projects turned out.

This is a great thread, I found it doing a google search for SOF Hummvee's and it's been a great help. I have just returned to modelling and my first project is a SOF GMV.
Hopefully someone will post photo's of completed vehicles.
Thanks to all those who have posted photo's, they are a great help.

Hi guys, yeah it was great but Matte Black has vanished. I hope he is building away some where and will one day post his projects for all of us to see. I got side tracked with my ASLAV PC build but dragged my Dumvee out of the drawer again to see if I could summon the will to finish it. I recently saw a M1151 rigged like Matte Black's with the rear step and armoured cargo area, I'll see if I can re find it on Military Photos but my band width is terrible up north, I bet Frenchy found it too ;o)

I am curious how the rear gun/seat are mounted? Are they on a turret ring of some kind?
