Sorry to say this Marek, but I had to have a rather urgent surgery in my nose. It's all swollen and any irritants like paint or glue is strictly forbidden for 1 to 2 months depending on my healing stage. As a result I won't be able to complete my build for this campaign and I have to withdraw.

Best of luck and health to all other participants!

Hi guys!
I also have to resign... My situation is not as serious as Emre's - I simply have not enough time to build this one...

Take care and see you all during some other campaign!

Still can't get my lighting right, but there is ALOT of pigments on this thing too. Was a good learning experience.

A shame to see some of you having to drop, but I guess life does get in the way at times Although I didn't start the campaign, just wanted to say thanks for at least making an initial go of it Hopefully you guys can jump in some of the other campaigns that are going on and also the ones into next year. I couldn't finish any of my halftracks. I don't want to rush them, so I think, it'll be a drop.
I did, however finish my SAS Pink Panther, a Vickers 6 ton, and a T-34...

Hi All

That extra week could save my project too. Still I am not sure I can finish it, but I will try (neck breaker is probably painting and weathering).

I should have checked the thread more often .. really nice builds here!! I'll post some pix of my progress so far tomorrow, when I can take some in natural light.

all the best

Greetings fellow campaigners. Sorry to hear that a few had to resign. I've put up my submissions in the gallery and I'll post a few others in this forum. The Luchs kit was an interesting challenge, especially the suspension. Quite a kit considering the scale (1/72).

Here's a few shots.

As you can see it's a KFOR unit. I used the kit decals and a couple of pictures from the operation for the weathering.

Great campaign!

Cheers,
Jan

Hi All

Well, I checked my progress (I was busy the last 2 weeks with another project) and sadly I am farer behind than I had thought. Reworking some "/features" of the ICM kit, Multipart PE doors, the whole Turret PE and the C&M plus weathering is just too much for 2 days. So sadly I must say: I am out.

Another campaign not finished

Anyway, here is a pic:

the roof and the aft luggage heap are not yet glued as I still have to do some work in that area.

Thanks for a really nice campaign!

Good luck to all who try to make it in time!

all the best

Steffen, looks like it might have been a really nice build you had going. Sorry, that you couldn't complete the campaign.

Rob, nice little Stryker! I did the Trumpeter 1/72 version a whole back for the Stryker Campaign. Looks like your Academy version comes with a few more details.

Only a short time left, good luck to all in completing in time.

Cheers,
Jan

Sorry to hear about not finishing in time you guys.
But what the hell, there's always another campaign, right?

Quoted Text

I am a bit dense, so excuse my ignorance. But I thought the date of completion for this Campaign was to be June 8, 2009,.......it is June 6 where I am,...........or is this a 'leap year'?
Someone please slap me back into reality..........

Rob, I believe the gist of what some people (including Marek) are referring to is that they will not be able to complete their builds before the June 8th deadline. Steffen's build still needs considerably more than two days work even if he pulled all-nighters.

Hope this explained things.

Cheers,
Jan

Thanks Marek and Jan!

@Rob: as Jan wrote it is just too much work in a short period of time. I just did not progress as much before I had to prepare my examination (which was at the end of may) To regain some motivation during and after that I chose a Tamiya kit (something with wings) .. sadly this took faar too long and the 222 did not have any appeal to me during that phase .. as I wrote above there is much PE to bend and solder (Hauler sets) and reworking some mistakes and finding out e.g. how to correctly position the gun was just not possible in two days.... and I am fully aware that this is already an extension.

I will probably need a month or so at normal working speed (assuming that I can stick to this project for such a long time) ....

again: it was a nice campaing and I hope there will be some more who can finish it!

all the best

Nice campaign Marek. I know only three of my 234s really qualified but I added the 234/1 just to complete the set. Exhaust systems don't look very good in the photos..

Well, miraculously, I actully managed to finish mine just barely in time - then the Armorama and Kitmaker server were down!!!

but they are back up now, and I post with less than an hour to spare (local time).

My entry is an Iraqi BMP-1 in 1/35th scale. Obviously the very old DML kit. It was actually the most ancient surviving kit in my stash! (longest in my possession, not oldest molding - makes me wanna start a new campaign where you build the model kit you've had the longest).

I didn't bother to correct much besides the engine screens. I know there are lots of inaccuracies with this kit, but I don't really care and I didn't have the time (it was nice to not let myself worry about stuff like that actually). Also think i got a little too much contrast on the two tone camo, but it looks cool this ways, and well, it;s done now and I'm not going to redo it.

The unit markings (or whatever they are) are hand painted, and the whole scheme comes from photos of an abandoned BMP-1 in operation desert storm.

There are a few small things i eventually need to clean up/attend to/ whatever (tracks have overspray on them, details needs more attention with a small paint brush, etc), but as far as this campaign is concerned, it's done.

Finally, I decided my cheap vinyl tile floor made a perfect desert floor backdrop (I should have photoshopped out the tile lines I guess...)

Hi Vance,
I like your BMP. This is a nice build OOTB, don't worry about accuracy, we all know Dragon missed their initial Soviet models. But they still are the only ones in town anyway.
You camo is pretty good and I don't think there is too much contrast between the both tones. It's really good looking.

Very nice build, Vance. The weathering looks great. Very subtle weathering around the details.

Thanks for participating

thanks for the kind comments, guys. =)

It feels good to finally finish a model (this spring was really hectic)- esp one that has been sitting in my closet(s) for so many years.
