How about Cold War Campaign?

time frames: 1945 - 1989
1/72 - 1/16 scales
Dioramas allowed
Start: April 1st
End: October 1st

I haven't decided yet but it's possible to narrow campaign only to NATO vs. Warsaw Pact ,or go wider and include China, Vietnam, both Koreas etc.

We can make this campaign very wide and add aircrafts, boats and invite friends from Aeroscale, Modelshipwrights and Historicus Forma.

Let me know which option you prefer.
Any further sugetions?

I need YOUR support!

Marcin,

With a title of "Cold War," I'd leave it to NATO and Warsaw Pact nations. There are a LOT of modeling opportunities within those countries alone. I also feel that including the other Kit Maker sites would be great.

Hi Marcin,
I'd like to join - a lot of interesting stuff to build from this time period, if only you could let it last a little longer (maybe to the end of year).
But YES, I'm interested - I did not build modern armor yet, so this could be good oportunity.

I'm in! It would be great to have whole Kitmaker Network included (mm... Su-25 Frogfoot or Mil Mi-24 Hind..), But it definately should last till end of this year. As Andrzej suggested:

We have that theme at our '09 show coming up in May.

The way we worded it was:

Quoted Text

2 Minuted to Midnight - The Cold War

Any Kit, Armor, Aircraft, Ship, etc, from Churchill's 'Iron Curtain' Speech of 1946 (What many experts claim to be the official start of The Cold War), to the Fall of the Wall in 1989. To include, but not limited to, East vs West, Nato vs Warsaw Pact, Israeli Wars, Korea, Vietnam, Falklands, Iran vs Iraq, India vs Pakistan.

This opened everything up so we had the widest variety possible. However you can obviously limit it to whatever you want.

Anyway, my 2 cents....I will be building the old Monogram US/USSR missile set......which I think pretty much epitomizes the Cold War....since out show isn't until the end of May, and if this gets approved, starts April 1.....then I guess I am in!

Wasn't there a Vietnam campaign recently?

Why not just go with the NATO vs Warsaw Pact theme?

Hey, where's Jesper? It's strange of him not to add his comment when new campaign is forming .
Few other campaignoholics did not give their opinions yet. Marcin, maybe you could PM more friends we both know from other campaigns. This campaign is a must-be!

I've made some announcement on Aeroscale and Armorama main forum. I hope this would help.

Hi all,

Joining from Aeroscale - In my view, a cold war theme should include the countries in between NATO and Warsaw-pact, such as Sweden and Finland. If so, then I'm in!

Edit: Oups - i didn't see the very extended scope of the campaign!

Cheers! // PolarBear

I like building modern armor and I have some in my stash that should fit. If I can build it in time, I'm in!

Jesper will come around, don't worry. He doesn't leave campaigns unattended

I think, that if we want to have real cold war campaign (not only NATO vs. Warsaw Pact) we should allowed any conflict between communism and democracy between 1946-1989. That means Vietnam War, Korean War, Czech and Hungarian Uprisings against communism, arms race etc

I'll give it a try. I've got Uni commitments and so on, but I'm sure I'll be able to fit in a couple of builds.

Marcin,

I believe you have enough people already, and I've just ordered T64, so I think you can go ahead and submit this campaign.

I also belive that the Cold War campaign should include all comunism vs NATO conflicts including Cuba, Vietnam, Korea and of course Warsaw Pact stuff...

Already submitted.

I will enter with Polish PT-76B from Trumpeter or Centurion from AFV.

I'd be interested as well. My thoughts are similar to Jesper's - keep it to NATO/ Warpac vehicles. Korea, Vietnam, etc were part of the Cold War, but were also more "heated" than cold. As well, Vietnam and Korea have been covered by other campaigns recently.
