To be honest I was still a little unsure of how I would react to this having never seen anything quite like it.

I'm no longer concerned. Well done JBA. The foam, the ball turret. The fuselage section and radio operators machine gun with frame. The overall look, composition and of course execution. These were all carried out to extremely high levels.

Thank you for sharing it with us.

I don't know what I find more amazing: the amazing skill involved while constructing the different parts of this DIO or the story depicted.. A rare subject that moves away from the more traditional Diorama depictions but is a unmistakable part of ware none-the-less..

My hat's off..!

Hi JBA,

As always ... Your imagination is great, and your work this out. This latter work is more simple and yet so transmitting elements and gives a good feeling.

Many Congratulations my friend,
Fernando Sancho.

Thank you Ron -but this one will stay in my garden shed well protected from dust by a glass cover until, well, I change mood towards modelling shows

Hi Jelger, you are pretty right, those objects look a bit uncanny, and I guess people not into model making or war machines could have some trouble really figuring what's going on and would classify this as SF, but that's okay really, thanks !

Thank Jaymes and Martyn, always nice to see you here!

Thanks Q, but that's really not only water, there's fire extinguishing foam too, and the liquids all go from the direction those were "shot"!

Thank you Matthew, appreciated

Thanks Thomas, like I always said, really doing original things is really my raison d'être, whatever the fact I failed and will fail again by always putting the bar too high

Thanks Fernando friend, you know I am not really sure this gives good feelings, at least it's designed to be the opposite. But then you know simplicity was the key here. You know a diorama should not have more details on it than the idea requires

Sorry to bump that up once more, I have been doing a small video earlier today -not only to show my deep n' charming blue eyes (there is no girl there anyway), but to show and explain a bit better the Womb layout and colouring scheme

JB,
Thanks for the explanation, it's interesting to hear the artist describe what was done and why. It's also nice to see the inside of the 'shed' A bit slower with the camera next time please!
And if "The Womb" will remain on that shelve for the next 10 years, please clear off a spot so it can at least sit level?
Thanks again.....great idea to present a video summary

Cheers,
Charles

Very nice Jean-Bernard!!

When you said "It is done. See what I am going to do with it ..." I first thought you would bin it or throw it to the ground but luckily you did not.

If you will ever show it to public you maybe should put the poem aside the display because otherwise you will have to explain the whole day what it is ... and artists do not explain their work ..

all the best

Finally the traffic has calmed down, and Photobucket has let us mere mortals see your work!

This is incredible. I had no idea that a scene could be so emotional without even a figure - well an obvious one - but this...wow. a show stopper - hint hint.

Hats off to you!

I have watched this from the start, but didn't post as all I would have said is "great" or words like it lol.
Now this is finished their isn't any one word to describe this work of art.
This dio is possibly the most surreal scene I have seen modelled, dark, foreboding, lonely and horror struck.
Exceptional work JBA.

"Careful JB, don't knock it with that file, don't drop the camera on it, woah that was close, almost crushed it with the glass. Nearly dropped it! Careful it almost fell off the shelf!"

These were the thoughts going through my head when viewing your video! It's incredibly stressful watching the way you handle that diorama... but who am I to tell an artist how to treat his own work.

An absolute pleasure to see this diorama come together. Thanks for documenting the build so clearly as usual. I learnt a lot.

Excellent video JBA. Since you put so much effort into enhancing the shadows and highlights (perhaps to make it look like a scene with a sunrise) it might be neat to take a picture of the model outside during a sunrise. Just a thought.

Nice to see another video from you JBA. I kind of feel exactly the same when I finish my project. I put it in my glass cabinet and forget it. I think that the most important thing that I get from it is new skills for future projects.
Now on to the Seddul-Bahr dio ey.

JBA, that is AWESOME! What a brilliant dio! I only really took notice today, and read it from start to finish. I've always loved the B-17, and what you have done there is tell a small story of one. Fantastic!

Thanks guys
-Charles, one of these days -probably during my next SBS here- i am going to do a complete walkaround of the garden shed

-Steffen I think you are pretty right - IF i ever present that one at a show, i will display the poem. As long as it stays on internet i don't care much if the people get it or not. But if was about to show it "liv", I should do it *completely*, with the poem too

-Scott thanks much, but I have been arbitrary deciding I would be showing my stuff at a show again when i turn 50, that's 11 years to go yeah!

-thanks much Andy, i was wondering if any modellers into planes actually checked it except for Jaypee and Steffen, but well yes I am very happy about this. I have one good idea with a scractchbuilt PO2 that is in my "to do soon" lists

-Chas you wouldn't believe how much I am messy while working on dioramas, that's a small miracle I can actually come up with something in the end. my carelessness is to be seen in the way i treat my bases. I don't know if you noticed but there was a lot of wind, and i feared the grey cardboard sheet would fold on the diorama which would have destroy bits of it

Matthew thanks -if I were about to do what you hint it would add my effect to the one of the natural light condition and that's not really what I seek. Ultimately my dioramas would work best under neutral light conditions but you can't get that of course.

Thanks as always Kenneth friend

*Exactly* Primož, all the work I have been doing from Koktebel on (kids, big seas, lightning effects) , are just blueprints for the one I hope to finish in 4 months time which is way huger. When this one too is completed, well, what to do

hey Matt thanks! Someone commented that one as being "the best desacralisation of a B-17 I have ever seen" I liked that

Thanks once more friends

Hi Jean-Bernard,

I know I come a little bit after the battle once again but thanksfully Steffen pointed me to your latest piece of Art. All I can say is Wow! This is again some fantastic work from you! Someone must have already told you that but it reminds me of the work of Caro and Jeunet, especially the earlier movies. I like it very much!

Sorry to bump that dio one last time guys, but I was away for a few days, and jean-Luc certainly deserves a big thanks for his comments
indeed thanks Jean-Luc, so "piece of art" or "it does have some artistic element about it"? that's quite a difference
As usual I bet for the 2nd proposition. oh, and yes, i love Caro and Jeunet (Jeunet alone leaves me cold)!
Thanks Jean-Luc! (and to Steffen to pass the tip!)

This is going to be made into a feature article right? It really was a fascinating read and the end result was superb! So different as well, and a veyr original concept.

Thanks for the interest Jon.
At first i would have say no, but now maybe if I find 1 day off I will write it. But then it's unlikely to come up on kitmaker before a big bit of time, especially if I keep on slashing up online companies like I did in the SBS, which i would almost certainly do

This is very moving indeed. I like it a lot, it is desolate. The quiet after the chaos. Very meditative. The engineer in me is going "how did the ball turret get out" I'd prefer it more inside the wreckage. But the message I get loud and clear. The video gives it a life you can't quite catch from the photographs. I've really enjoyed seeing this come together

Also great duffel coat in the Galillee video, would be excellent for a Scottish autumn.

Thanks John-Paul, well, the ball turret probably err, rolled out
The first version of the idea was to put the foam in a circular fashion so that the turret would have look like a Sputnik in orbit around the earth, it ended up staying where it is currently.
I must say the guy that is barely able to put oil in my wife's car (I don't drive) in me usually ignore those kind of problems
It was really cold the day I shoot that Galilée vidéo! thanks for your comments as always
