Nice looking Harv. Did a good job mixing all that Tamiya sets to get such a beauty. I really like this kind of dios, out of the ordinary, as opposed to other " more serious".

Thank you Dragos, I appreciate your kind comments. I wasn't too sure about how it was going to look when it was finished but everyone seems to like it.

Thanks again,

HARV

Hello All,
Some great looking builds going on or finished. Thanks for your well wishes and the build updates.

I am home now, They have me confined in a motorized wheelchair thing, Miss Mary only allows it to have a quarter charge so I do not go to far. She also took all of the instructions out of my models along with all of the paint, tools, etc. I am not allowed to do anything till my update visit on the 21st. So no modeling till I get a medical OK. I think I can bribe the docs to let me start modeling on the 21st.

A Big Thanks to Jim for keeping an eye on the campaign while I was gone. I think that Santa is going to send him a great present for x-mas. If I am allowed to go to the UPS Store to send it.

Again thanks for everything,
Cheers,
Bruce

Usually i'm more a reader than a "poster" - my modelling skills are by far not as good as of most of the guys here on this forum so i rather enjoy reading the threads than trying to model by myself ...

my priority is collecting Militaria - mostly US - mostly 2nd WW ...

see for reference pics of some of the items i have in my collection´- all MP issue - most items in a period inbetween 1942 to 1952 ...

US Army white pistol belts:

easiest way to identify age of pistol belts is the manufacturer stamp on the backside (off course) or to compare the material, colour and shape of the "hardware" (grommets, buckles, ...)

although not officially listed in the quartermaster lists i think all (except 2nd from top) belts are WW2 era

here you see a setup of white webbing gear

the pistol belt combo shown on top is all WW2 era prosduction - except the batton holder which was never used during WW2 ...

due to the fact that no white holsters where produced during the war white canvas covers where used to "convert" usual gear into MP gear - low production figures and difficult to get hands on white gear made a lot of MP´s just to paint their usual canvas gear white

see example of "whitened" M1 carbine ammo pouch (backside)

alongside with the white webbing equipment also brown garrison equipment was used by MP´s - see full set of MP leather equipment with holster hanger, shoulder strap, 1st aid pouch and ammo pouch

the 2nd picture shows a similar set with holster and batton holder attached!

the brown leather equipment was produced pre-war and restarted production 1946 - most leather items (except the garrison-belts) in my collection are dated 1946 and later

in the 1950ies most brown equipment was dyed black and used throughout the vietnam war

finally see 2 garrison caps in MP setup:

both in khaki - the left one with a white rubberiezed canvas cover - left one with white chinstrap ... - both setups used shortly after war ...

maybe those pics are of use for some of you as a reference ...

Hello Scott,
the M1114 is perfect for this campaign. It is used by the US Army for just about anything. If possible, can you turn your model into the M1117 Armored security Vehicle for MP use?
Just a thought,
Thanks for a interesting question, I enjoyed the research.
Cheers,
Bruce

Hello All,
Looking good.
@ Scott,
God start on your build. Is the doors clear plastic? Thanks for the up date.

@Talib,
Great looking build. I do like your tires and your front saying. your gun turret looks great also. thanks for the up date.

@ Byron,
I am doing the same kit. hopefully the figures will arrive to go with it. Did you have any problems? I am also doing it OOB. Thanks for the update.

I have still not been able to get the ribbon posted. I am going to ask Gary when he gets back to help me.
I hope all of you have a Great New Year,
Cheers,
Bruce

They're completly different vehicles. The M1114 is a Humvee, the M1117 a modern variant of the old LAV 100

Hello Sean,
It should have been M1116 I think. It shows it as a hummer 4x4 armored security vehicle.
with all the different vehicles in the thousand number, I made a mistake. I also do not know any military vehicle after 1970, When I left.
Thanks for clearing it up,
Cheers,
Bruce

Hello all. Nice models.
@Scott: nice humvee, the transparent body is interesting ( I can't see the reason for this but they should know better)
@Anton: good looking vehicle, i think SWAT still uses this machine ( without the turret)
@Byron: did a good job with the painting, loking very realistic
Cheers and a Happy new year to all!

Hello Gary,
thanks for the offer. The system crashed and I lost the E-Mail Ribbon plus a few other documents. I know need to ask one of the guys to make me a new one and then get it to you.
Cheers,

Unfortunatly this doesn't look like it will get finished any time soon....

Just heard back from the vendor, HLJ, that Trumpeter have refused to replace the missing parts, the sprue containing all the turret. Fair play to HLJ: they have given a full refund including postage, but I'm surprised and annoyed by Trumpeters attitude.

Hello All,
Good News, We have a ribbon that should be posted soon. Andrzej did 3 for me in about 6 hours and I picked one. A Big Thank You Andrzej.
@ Sean,
I feel your pain. I got a ship from them that was missing the A section. When I ask for a replacement they said just buy another one. . Maybe you can make a turret or something else to fill the hole. Good luck and If I can do anyhting let me know.
@ Scott,
Your hummer stands out, That for sure. Is it going to be a bait vehicle. Shoot at me while my friends blow you away .
Cheers,
Bruce
