Hi Al, great figures! Can't wait to see the finished scene.

And nice planes Murdo - I agree with your insanity diagnosis! Then again, I created 1/76 scale rivets for my build...

If we do get extended, I might even get round to putting mine on a base with figures...

My gut feeling was 11/11 as well, but I wanted to see what you guys thought before I said anything. Is everyone ok with this?

@Jeremy

11/11 works for me, as it would be appropriate. Also would give me some time to either fix the figures in my current diorama, or maybe do that 120mm Tommy...

Hi Jeremy,
My stuff is already posted to the campaign gallery so the deadline isn't a problem, but I agree that the 11/11 date is more appropriate. I'd add a few figures to one of my builds given more time to do it.
Once this campaign ends, I hope somebody starts another one on the Great War as the centennial approaches. I have a WWI scratch-build project in mind which will take a long time to complete. Lacking a campaign, I might do it as a diorama.

Dick, I saw your stuff in the gallery! Great work! Three of different styles!
I added mine to the bunch, so 4 model T patrol cars so far (We're probably over-represented ).
Guys, the whippets are excellent too. Really well done. The aircraft and figures too. Awesome.
Here are the last few photos of my build. (Won't be needing the extension myself, but you can't disagree that on 11/11 we should stop the hostilities. )...

Hi folks
I've finished the last of the three Model T Ford light patrol cars, and posted pictures to the campaign gallery, This vehicle has a Vickers machine gun mounted in the back, and required a lot of scratch-building. The figures were cobbled together from leftovers from other kits. The driver's head came from an officer in an Emhar WWI British Infantry set and was grafted onto a greatly modified Italeri jeep driver's body. I had a terrible time fitting his feet in amongst the pedals.
The gunner was once a Tamiya LRDG driver, and his cap was replaced with what I hope resembles a Glengarry bonnet. The top is actually dark blue, but looks much lighter in the photos. Honest, he isn't on a UN peacekeeping mission. I painted the hatband white and stippled it with red hoping to replicate the checkered "dicing"of such bonnets. The gunner's arms came from an Italeri jeep driver and a recoilless rifle gunner.
Weathering was minimal; a light wash with India ink in alcohol to accentuate seams and minor details, and a light dusting of talcum powder to simulate dust. Vehicles don't rust in a desert environment and there is seldom any mud.
Right side view.
Left side view. The part of the cartridge belt in the ammo box is poorly molded and was very difficult to paint.
Right front quarter view.
Left front quarter view.
Looking down from above.

It's been a lot of fun, but I've sworn off Lindberg Model T kits for a while.
Cheers
Dick

Some very impressive finishes in the last hours! A quick note to everyone, make sure that you have your photos loaded in the official gallery:

https://gallery.kitmaker.net/showgallery.php/cat/27037

I believe that all of you have certainly earned an extension, so 11-11-12 it is! This is an unofficial extension as it is intended as a reward for your dedication so make the best of it!
If you have already finished your build and want to make changes/additions to it during this time then you are more than welcome to!

I will start rewarding ribbons to our finishers in the next few days.

We are looking forward to seeing the rest of your builds finished and in the gallery

Thanks again everyone for making this such an excellent campaign!

Hi Dick, the car looks great, lovely job on what looks like a difficult kit.

Can I just humbly mention a wee point?

The gunner's hat is not Scottish. It's definitely a Beret. It is sloped the opposite to what it should be. Can it be reversed or is it too late?

A Glengarry was shaped more like a forage cap and had a red Toorie on top (NOT a pom pom, people have died for calling it a pom pom!). It looked like these two and would have long ribbons at the back:

Option 2 is the Tam O' Shanter (TOS) but they were Khaki and always sloped the opposite way of your gunner's headgear:

Option 3 is the Balmoral which is what the offspring between a Glengarry and a TOS would look like:

The Balmoral was TOS shaped but Glengarry coloured and had long ribbons at the back.

All sloped the opposite way to your gunners and all had the Regimental badge and / or hackle above the left ear as can be seen here:

By the way... Many lifetimes ago I was the 5th soldier from the right in that picture! Changed days!

Hi Murdo,
My humble apologies for being nfamiliar with Scots' headgear, and thanks for the input. All I had as a reference was the somewhat fuzzy photo below.
I guess it could be a Balmoral with a Toorie on top, and the color is hard to determine other than being somewhat dark. From that angle, it would be impossible to see ribbons hanging down on the back, and I don't see a badge. What I started with was indeed a beret, which I tried to reshape. I'll see what I can do to correct the problem. At least he won't look like a UN peacekeeper.
I'll take the opportunity to congratulate you on the nice work on the warbirds. A long time back when my kids were little I made a mobile using 1/72 WWI aircraft kits, a Fokker Triplane, an Albatros, a Nieuport, a Camel, and I think, a DH gun bus. With a slight breeze, it looked like a dogfight in progress, but my workmanship was nowhere close to yours.
BTW you look impressive in your kilt.
Cheers
Dick

Thanks for the kilt and plane kudos and no apologies needed mate!

Badges on the TOS were attached to a tartan patch and as the badge was usually silver many Regiments removed the silver badge as it made a pretty good aiming point. The Regiment could still be clearly identified by the tartan patch.

Regiments which didn't wear badges but had "Hackles" instead (a large feather like... umm feather) sticking up from the badge area, like the Black Watch (red hackle) and RHF white hackle) removed their hackles for the exact same reason.

Some Regiments had badges and hackles.

Here's an example of normal wear:

And here's typical "war mode":

I'm still trying to figure out what that bonnet he's wearing is... It could be a Balmoral. If I remember correctly, the piper (Bill Millen) and Commander (Lord Lovat) of the Lovat Scouts in the WW2 movie "A bridge too far" wore Balmorals. I don't have it so I can't check.

A TOS can also appear very dark, almost black, in many old B&W pics so I wouldn't argue with it being a TOS.

As I said, the head dress is just the wrong way round for a Scots bonnet so if you can still get it off then just reverse the beret 180 degrees and that should look okay.

Hope this helps.

Boy am I glad of the extension, I can now finish my Mk V Tank, just too many other commitments of late (the joys of owning ones own home) !

Murdo, thanks for the help. Herewith are some photos showing the gunner's new bonnet. Toorie-making is one of my least developed skills, but I took a stab at it anyway. Once I had the bonnet off and reshaped a bit, I drilled a 1 mm hole in the top and stuck in a bit of rounded-off plastic rod. Your caution about aiming points notwithstanding, I painted it red, figuring that it would be hard to hit when the wearer was bouncing around in the back of moving a Model T. As someone once said, don't worry about the bullet with your name on it; worry instead about the shrapnel addressed to whom it may concern.

Matt: I'd be looking equally forward to either!

Sean: Ty, and likewise and excellent build! I would really love to see you working from scratch in person, no doubt I could learn quite a lot

Dick: It's been really impressive to watch your Tin Lizzy's come together! Murdo has quite the wealth of information for you, it's part of what makes campaigns a great place to be

Erhan: Thank you, and it's always a pleasure to have you in any campgain

Ian: Yes, and my life has been no less hectic mate. I really want to see your build finished!

Ribbons have been handed out for finished builds up to this point. We really have a great collection of builds thanks to everyone here, and I'm sure I'm not alone when I say I can't wait to see the rest in our gallery!

I have noticed that there are a few photos that never made it to the gallery. Please make sure you take a moment to go back and load your photos of your finished build(s) to the official gallery.

Great job fellas!!

Ok it's time to wrap this campaign up for good gentlemen. If you don't have your photos in the campaign gallery, make sure that they find there way there by the end of this week. If you have any other issues please contact me as soon as you can.

Once again, it's been a pleasure! I hope everyone here will be enjoying their holiday season, and in the meantime I'll work on putting together my next campaign
