Robby

Thanks for the feedback. Yeah, the bottle was part of the arm, and to get it closer to Hans would have put the bottle squarely in his forehead.

His helmet is drying (it has the canvas cover thankfully) and I'll be attaching it to his other hand.

I'm going to try and tone down the whites. I used some off white, stone grey and the grayish white from Panzer Aces for the splinter camo to do the whites... They're still either too big, or too white. I'll be fixing them tomorrow for sure!

Matt, . . . No shame in your helmet camo, the faces, or the Future. A very commendable representation of the helmet (I'm sure Stephen could identify which government paint swatches you should've used, but to my eye, it's fantastic ), . . .'

Truthfully from the examples I have seen, the helmet lozenge colours are good. The only additions would be dk grn or stone grey but the limit seems to be three colours per helmet between the black borders.

Hi folks!! My Whippet is done! Pics uploaded into the Gallery.

I liked the simple markings of the Whippet in the museum at CFB Borden in Canada, so I went with that. I was having a hard time with a recipie for mud, but the Model Gods smiled on me and FSM showed up on Friday with a how-to article. Sweet!

I'm happy with the results and I had an great time building this kit. Now, I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of the finishers. Excellent work, everybody.

I'm calling my Verlinden vignette "Drink To Remember, Drink To Forget" complete for this campaign. Although it's hard to tell, I ended up stripping my figures down to the resin three times (acrylic paints + acetone dip = easy paint removal). I'm probably 70% of where I'd like to be with figures, especially flesh tones and eyes. I guess it's just something to come with more practice.

Even though I almost had this one slip away due to real life issues, I'm glad I got a chance to get it finished. Jeremy aka "vonHengest" ran a great campaign and I really learned much from working outside my comfort zone.

If I ever join another WWI campaign, however, I'm building a damn biplane!

The pictures (last one will also be uploaded to the campaign gallery):

Great work Gentlemen. I though this one was running until 11.11.12 but I see the clock is ticking

Chris,Matt and Nicolas congrats on completion.

Fortunately I got Anzac Cove completed early on in the campaign as it will be some time before I finish my current WW1 project. Currently working on 5 more figures.

Cheers

Smitty, Nico, Al, and Andy, that's some fantastic work going on. I'm proud to be part of this campaign!
Here's where I'm currently at. Need time for paint and weathering in the next few remaining days-- lots of weathering!
Finer detail as it goes along
Cheers!

@Al

All the figures look stunning, but I especially like the third and fifth figures with the mud and dirt going up the trouser legs. Probably should have done something like that with my two figures. How can you storm a trench and look like you just finished a personnel inspection?

WOW!!! Thanks for the warning Al, so did I! There's only a couple of days to go!

I'd better get that Whippet finished. I also have two WW1 planes I did for it too so I'd better get some pics posted.

Just realised I don't have finished pics of the Whippet with guts and can't get any till Monday night so if I can have a day or two of mercy I'll sort that asap?

Anyway, I'm also entering two small 1/72 planes. These are Revell's 1/72 SE5a and Sopwith Camel and are the first 1/72 aircraft I've built for about 40 years.

When I opened the box and shook the contents out on the table I then had another look in the box to see where the rest of the kit was... It wasn't! What tiny planes these are. As I have large paws these wee things were a nightmare to build.

Then in a fit of sheer insanity I decided to rig the stupid things with Invisible Thread. I really think I need my head examined! My wife thinks so too as she had to put up with the near incessant infuriated muttering coming from the build table. Anyway, I finally finished rigging them and it looked okay so.... As a clear mark of further stupidity I decided to make turnbuckles from "Tamiya clear orange" for the SE5a and "Liquid Green Stuff" for the Camel. After that I put them carefully away in the cabinet as they are so fragile.

So, here's some pics:

SE5a:

Sopwith Camel:

It is VERY small!

Sorry the pics aren't very good, I had to use flash instead of Manual and long exposure.

I'll get Whippet pics up soon.

Reading between the lines, I am gathering that there are a few of us who can use some extra time? You all have certainly earned it, and looking back I may have been unfair in running this campaign for less than a year given the type of work that has been consistently pursued throughout the entire length of this group build.

I am open to any thoughts/suggestion. I really want to see everyone's hard work come to fruition, even if it's as simple as finishing up another build for this campaign.

Keep up the outstanding work and drop me a line here when you have a chance

/raise hand...

Yes, I'd vote for an extension. My summer was pretty hectic, so hopefully can find some bench time in the fall and early winter.

btw, great work everyone!

Hi Jeremy,

I'd vote for an extension until 11.11.12. I can't guarantee I'll finish my project by then, although that was my original plan, but as I have most of the players built now the rest is adding detail and finishing off.

11.11 would be a natural date?

Cheers

I totally agree.

I was caught completely by surprise that the 11th of November wasn't the actual finish date.

I know, I know! Read the instructions. But why? I've never done that for anything before... One look at the state of my models is confirmation enough. :-)
