Hello Fellas,

Thanks from the kind words Gentlemen.

Stephen - The 37mm is barrel depot and the 30cals. are verlinden. There are much better versions of each in different brands, thats just all i could find at that particular time. Hope that helps.

Gary, iv'e just stumbled across this thread and I must say your staghound looks fantastic. I've never been that interested in the staghound as a modelling subject, but painting like that I think is enough to make anyone interested, regardless of subject. Top job

Hello Matt,

Thanks so much man! I also was inspired by a Staghound i saw at a model show about 2 years ago. Before that i really hadnt thought about building one. Having built it im much more interested in this type of AFV, both WWII and Post WWII.
Thanks for dropping by.

Even though its a few months since you finished, this is a very impressive model Gary! Love all the colour contrasts. The stowage was worth the extra effort and cost! Nice one.
Have you done anything since this? Ive not been here much this last while because of work.

Hello Frank,

Thanks man! Yes, i was impressed with Ledgends stowage set. That stuff was a breeze to clean and have a bunch of extra parts for later builds.
I have completed Rommels Greif (Tamiya) and have plans for a dio with it and a Kubelwagen and figs. Ive conpleted a 1/48 Sherman M4 "Hurricane", 1/35th and a 1/72nd Panther for the Panther Campaign. Im now building a Puma for the APC/AFV campaign. Thanks for stopping by Frank and nice to have you back.

Jim, Thanks man! I appreciate it.

Gary your Staghound is a thing of beauty. I was looking through Armorama when I saw you build. My I tell a story. As you know the Staghound was built in the USA(T17E1) but was rejected by the Army. The British took it and used it. After the war they sold a bunch to Israel. In 1957 the Israelis sold 68 to Nicaragua because Somoza had sold weapons to Israel in 1948 when no one else would. 28 were diverted to Batista in Cuba. In 1967/68 I was a FA 1lt in Panama. I speak Spanish , I was sent to Nicaragua as an advisor to a Nicaraguan unit in the Puerto Cabezas, Blufels, Waspam area. Puerto Cabezas is where the Bay of Pigs invasion was launched. The pier was still there. Ostensibly I was there to train up the Nicaraguan unit. We actually were hunting a group of Cubans trying to overthrow Somoza. We got in our Staghounds(I know they weren’t artillery but I didn’t argue with CO in Southern Command) and roamed the desert. I also met Tacho Somoza and others. We would get in our Staghounds patrol and shoot and be shot at. Aks didn’t penetrate just a loud PINGG! Anyway we got a few. Then I went back to the Canal Zone and became the XO of a 105mm Btry. I still wonder what happened tothe men I served with after the Sandinistas took over. Probably shot when Somoza was over thrown thanks to Jimmy Carter but that’s another story.
I hope you don’t mind here are some pics of my Staghound in Nicaragua. I posed myself in the Cdr’s hatch. I went native, Nicaraguan Army hat, and moustache and even had a Thompson. Great fun!!!! I even got a Nicaraguan medal.
The kit was a resin ,the only on I could find years ago.

Gary, Don't know how I missed your entire build log, other then it's not the type of subject that this mostly WW11 guy is often interested in. Simply an outstanding build with enough extra detail to bring it to the next level, yet not so over whelming that guys like me would say: no way can I do that. In fact, it's just the opposite. Paint and weathering, including your stowage techniques is just awesome.

Personally, I learned a lot from your blog presentation. Thank you for taking the time to share it with us.

Will be following your next build for sure.

Gary, After I posted I realized( just after I hit yes on the reply) that maybe I was stepping on your blog! If I have then I apologize.Your build is really great.

You Staghound I a great job. I just saw Staghound and wanted to share my experience. Anyway if I broke the etiquette of the site please tell me ok?
Right now I am working on a 28cm German railway gun in 1/35 scale. A far cry from the 37mm Staghound. Anyway just wanted to tell you your Staghound is beautiful.
