Phil
Apologies for not speaking up earlier - a couple of suggestions for you.
1. Jesse's post from 19 June, in particular the attached photo, shows the headlights, and the socket attached to the side of the headlight guards. The idea here was that the headlights were removeable, and the cap on the top of the tube on the side of the guard was used to cover the empty headlight socket. They're missing from every DML Sherman kit.
2. The fuel caps were held in place by a pin, which was attached to the vehicle by means of a small length of chain.
Apart from that - looking good.
Regards
Rob

Quoted TextHey Phil...
I think you might be missing a part on the front hull. I believe there should be a ventilator cover between the hatches, where you've got that big horseshoe shaped hole.
Should look like this:
Check your sprues to see if Dragon provided it, but didn't call it out on the instructions.
That is an M4A1 Hull and not a composite (composite have a small cast bump in the middle of the glacis - ID feature). The kit is depicted correctly and it was the early Large hatch M4A1 that had the sheet metal cover not the composites.
Cheers
Al
Al,
Yeah, if you read through the thread, Dave caught my mistake early, and then to help out Phil, I found some photos of a real life Hybrid.

OK! I've sprayed the flat coat on top of this green bug.
Is someone know of a good premixed crylic flat coat? I use tam clear with tam flat but to acheive a good degre of ``flatness`` I haveto put lot of flat and i often get glazed spots. It aint hard to correct but it irritate me. Anyways, here the pics. Comments: Fire at will!
Next step, oil filters and weathering.
Thanks for watching.

Hi Phil,
It may not be dead flat but it does look a nice satin which will be fine for your next weathering steps. I use Tamiya Flat base and gloss clear mix with yellow top thinner. It can be very tricky to get a good balance to get a dead flat. I almost always have to adjust the ratios abit till im happy. You have done a great job bro and im looking forward to the weathering proccess.

I've sprayed 4 coats of burnt umber filter and 2 of cadmium yellow. A little dust on some cracks and welds. here are some pics.
I went for a sun scorched hue. over all, i like the results. Next I would like to go with a fine mist of field gray overall and a buff mist on the bogeys...What doyou all think?
Thanks for comments and support.

Hey Phil,
I can definately see a slight difference. Your base color being green with yellowish tones in it, im not sure about the yellow filter over the brown. It looks like you could use a bit more brown as it still has a yellowish tone. Im wondering if the yellow negates the warmer look of the brown. Just a thought. It still rocks IMO...and if you like it...Model on brother Phil.

Hey Jesse and Phil,
I also use Krylon Acrilyc flat, but only on things that wont need oil fadeing. Filters go over well and bite good, Pigment too. But ive attempted twice before to do overall washes and oil dot fadeing and streaking and the Mineral spirits softened the flat base and lifted in areas and made a bit of a mess. I did this on my sherman 105mm and ruined the turret and had to repaint and finish. Just want yall to know what could potentialy happen. I use Klean-Strip Oderless mineral spirits. Good luck Phil.

Good point Gary. The ONLY things I'll put on top of the acrylic flat coat are pigments, graphite, and other little details that 'flat' doesn't help... lights, dry-brushing silver on tracks, etc.

After some debate and clarification with you guys (thanks alot) I've decided to go with the kits air cleaner(square ones)But the caps ties were not to my liking. The kit provide only four when it should have 8. I've scratch the center arm of the ties with wire and borrowed buterfly nuts from a flakpanther kit I've built. I know it is german butterfly nuts but if you don't tell I wont Had some fitting issues with the boggie attachment: very loose but manage to make em strait using a ruler as a guide. Same problem with the air cleaner attachment point wayyy loose.
Here are some pics.
Thanks for the help and interaction! feel free to comment.
Phil
the square air cleaners were the common ones used on all M4 and M4A1 shermans and that includes the compsite M4 as well i believe the round airfilters were on early shermans

Ok I think I found a way to upload pics!
As I said the weathering is made of very thin coats of tam field gray and tam buff (a classic )
The base will be a small dio with 2 figures I intend to call this one: Planing the hunt.
