Hi Sascha,
I have range of Churchill's to build and I think a Churchill Group Build would be fun. I'd favour a long campaign more chance of getting something completed.
If enough people get interested it could be a very informative build.

Yes a long build would be best. I hope that this build will be fun and informative, Alan,Jeff,Chris and Myself thats four so far I think we need eight to submit something so i'll work up some kind of Build rules and we'll go from there.

Hey guys,
I haven't ever participated in a group build but I'd love to participate. I currently have two Churchills on the table right now and about three other kits minimum to be thrown together. Sign me up.
Best,
John

Sascha, you need ten on Armorama, not sure if that includes the person running the campaign (you). The other KitMaker sites have different numbers.

I've never built a Churchill, but have always been looking for an excuse to. I'll join if there is a start date in 2014

Hello Sascha,
2014 start date is ok (late 2013 is ok as well) -- am keen to build one. I'll be your 10th enlistee. I was thinking of a beute so I hope I can do something like this:
Cheers,
Tat

@ Tat:
That's a good one. Any info with that photo. date/place
Some of Hobart's Funnies were based on Churchills as well. That opens the door to a lot more builds.

Thanks Robert. I got it from the beutepanzer site (just don't have the links right now). I read it was one of the captured vehicles following the Dieppe raid. I think there were some beutes at he Eastern Front as well but will need to check further. Cheers, Tat

A captured Churchill... I love it! Not the way I'd go but that is a first for me so I guess they didn't have many go to the 'other side'.
I'm thinking a AVRE 290mm Petard Mortar armed Churchill or the ones used in the Dieppe Raid... which were Churchill I's?
Just the size alone of the Mortar is an awesome sight, although the way I found it to be loaded was less impressive.

Jeff, its a first for me as well, as I've never built a Churchill (or any British AFV for that matter). And since I lean toward Axis stuff, it will have to be a beute
In the readings I've done in the last couple of days, there doesn't seem to be much in the way of beute Churchills. For starters, of the 20 or so captured following the Dieppe raid, only 2 seem to have been repaired into running order, and am not sure if one among these went to Kummersdorf. While they may have sported balkenkreuzes, and dunkelgrau paint, none seemed to have been seen action.
The Eastern Front may be a possibility for beutes -- having 300 or so Lend-Lease Churchills, but I have yet to come across any info saying so. There is a pic showing a couple of Waffen SS with a Churchill behind them, though I read its been debated whether it was used in action or not. Curioser, and curioser...
Kit-wise at 1:35, the best bet for a Dieppe Churchill seems to be AFV Club's Mk III, though I would think some backdating need to be done (hopefully nothing major -- work-wise and cost-wise). I'd sure like to hear what the Churchill experts can recommend for this.

Well it will surely be an impressive sight should this guy gets "off-loaded" from that barrel!
Sascha, looking forward to your rules and regs.
