FirstSergeant: painting on the sprues , I haven't seen that for a long time, hope it works out without too much after work.
Paul [/quote]
I'm somewhat old school. I don't paint on the spru all the time. Depends on the subject, most of my aircraft are assembled before painting. The cockpit painted first and taped off when painting the airframe. I know I'll be filling gaps in the wing roots or seams. There aren't those kinds of seams in armor. So I paint then file and or sand. It's the way I'm reading the plastic.

Fabian: great choice there, I was after that kit myself . Are you adding any interior?
Paul
Hi Paul,
As far as I´ve overlooked the kit, little Wittman is filling the hole pretty well, so from my point of view now i´ll leave it away.... but sometimes I can´t help myself with detailing and what was planed to be ooB can turn in exactly the opposite
Nice StuG you´re making... guess I´ve to make one of those with all possible addon amour too... Might be interresting to show the "developement" doen within a few years... but I´m shure there´s another Groupbuild just waiting for that
yes I know the feeling

I've really been enjoying the builds. I've decided that I'll be un-enlistining. With time constraints, as well as some other issues, I feel like I would be building something just to build something. So instead I'm going to focus on completing my four partial StuGs. I'll jump in on part 3.

Toni, nice show . I know have some catching up to do, as you have now just pushed the level up a notch
Sal nice to see you here too, which version are you going for?
Rob try this place out:
http://www.modelsrgo.co.uk/
I found this last week (Thursday) and ordered some paint that I couldn't find here in Germany. It arrived today after being reposted by my parents.
You even get a hand written message on the invoice:
"Many thanks for your order Paul, kind regards -signature-
Now that is service!
O.k. after many discussions with myself I have decided my StuG must be late in the war. It's not a late version, but it was sure refitted in a workshop or factory. Therefore I think it was newly painted in a green tone and then some sand colour bands and patches were added:
the Green
Green with all the bits and pieces
In the first pic you can see the actual vehicle, if anybody has accurate info to the paint job then let me know about it.
Who knows maybe you can convince me it's pink with blue camo

Greetings,
Nice builds! More progress to report. I've assembled the top and bottom of the hull. Also I've finished assembling the superstructure and glued this in place. Now to the camo and weathering...

Paul,
I picked up an old Dragon Imperial Series StuG IV early, box art shows it with Zimm so I will go with some homemade stuff and the instructions call for a StuG brigade 907, Italy 1944 paint scheme
I still need to do some research with this one and have no idea when I will start as my bench time has been very limited as of late with work and school

added some paint... tried the 3-colour scheme, think I need to thin the paint and lower the pressure a little - but for a first attempt....
also used micro sol/set for the first time... REALLY like the way it conformed to the zim....
next up are tools and then chipping/rusting (and yes I know, not the zim, that will be lighter base wear and perhaps some plain "concrete" (guess thats the colour it would go once the paint wore off?) and chipping on the skirts....
not sure with the plain/numbered panel if I will over paint it in green/brown, actually like the way it looks different

Well I have gotten the bug to build my StuG while also finishing up a few builds for other campaigns. Went to a show last weekend and people were really desiring to reduce their stash. Thus I picked up a late StuG Ausf G with steel return rollers and pigs mantelet. Hopefully I can get away with not putting on zim.I am also going to try and build an early stug G with zimm. Just need to find a cheap zim to buy and some Riich winter track. They seem to be good. Any helpful suggestions would be helpful. Thanks.

I have been too busy the last few months with building track tools for everyone that I have let my modeling and campaigns slide. Time to take a break from the tools and get back to relaxing. So I am finally getting around to building this old chestnut. I had wanted to put more AM parts and effort into it but after closely examining the soft detail on most of the older parts and the other problems that it is throwing at me, I have decided to just go OOB with it and do my best with painting and weathering. Anyway, here's the 1st day's progress.
The Osketten equipped individual track links are so frail and brittle that they will be useless so I will just be using a spare set of magic tracks that I have and the decals are badly yellowed and also will be seeing the bin.

Here is the start of the DML stug. I am in-between jobs and packing up home. So here are some in progress shots. I was in the process of using the Panzer-Art resin pig's head. With it being a solid casting I am just trying to figure out how to hollow it out to accept the model's gun attachment. Just trying to figure out a paint scheme for it. A great collection of started and finished projects here.

Each member participating in this campaign must build either a Sturmgeschütz III or IV vehicle Rodolfo.
