Here is my start Up photo for the Campaign
StuG III Ausf A OOB.

Another one? I´m glad I switched to the upgraded Italeri StuG IV
ALthough the kit already includes a metal barrel and some PE, I couldn´t pass the Eduard basic upgrade and skirts.
I´ve heared it´s better to solder esp. the skirt mountings, let´s see how that turns out...

well, I guess I´ve used too much soldering wire in the first place, but all could be cleaned up with s small file...
So far I´ve leaned it´s better to sand off that black surface Eduard PE comes with and without some flux it´s not working at all...

the joint is way harder than you could get it with CA-glue tough... so worth the little additional work.

Yeah, once you have worked out all the bugs soldering is the best option.

You're on your way!

Indeed, some trial and error helps a lot
I´m glad I´m not new to soldering itself and got the tools together... but creating small accurate joints is a bit differnt to simply smacking some wire together...

Cool! I am not new to soldering either as I did a lot of wiring updates and installed a lot of radar detectors in modified applications, plus a ton of that work that I just don't have it in me to work with that small of work. I believe I have 7 different soldering irons.

But I am VERY impressed that I still see some mastering it and you're right, it has to be done this way for certain applications that require more strength!

Well, not shure how many dad hides in the basement, but I´ve worked with most of them... from heavy duty ("press til the tip gets red"), to precison ones... now I´m mainly working with an (pretty old, but pretty good) ERSA MS 8000 (which is said to be unbreakable ) a fantastic tool and even with a digital thermometer... but again, boys with toys, in general you should get good results with a basic one, aswell.

Did a small bit of work on my StuG III. Interior floor and torsion bars. I'm using interior resin bits from both CMK and Jaguar to fill out the areas you can view from the open hatches but limiting it to that.

Moving along with my StuG III build. I really wanted to paint the gun mount some other color than elfinbein white, but I'm guessing to be accurate it needs to be that. The transmission gear is from CMK and is allegedly made for the Dragon kit I'm not impressed.

Sweet, nice work Chris!

I received good news today so I need to see where I have left off and think about starting things up around here.

Adding the interior, still lots of little bits to finish and then I can paint up and wire the radios and work on the back fighting compartment wall. I could go on a rant about how much this interior aftermarket set sucks but I'm into it now and determined to finish it

Alright, finaly made a start....
that´s the one I´m aiming for:

added 3 missing bolts (red) on the towing lugs

Zimmerit with the Royal Model Zimmerit set and Milliput

Ostketten...

Dragon part from the spares vs Italeri part...

Speaking of spares... already nipped more parts from other kit I haven´t build yet, than I used from the Italeri kit...

the fenders will be replaced with dragon ones (spares, of course) and finaly the PE will come handy on all the tools and clamps...

Got most of the painting done. Only items left to paint are the tools on the fenders. Not too happy with the camo, I might have another go at it. Still getting used to my new airbrush (moved from an single action to a double one). I guess what I need is more practice. I would welcome all comments and tips on how to go about it

Finished the weathering on the lower hull sides. Next step - decals and main weathering. Might experiment with the hairspray method for the exhaust

Cheers

The salt method/technique works better for exhausts.

Calling this one done

I will try and take some more pics once the temperature drops a bit. 48 deg C is not a photographer friendly weather.

A big thanks to Jeff for having this campaign. I really had fun building my StuG and learned a lot of new techniques from all the other participants. I will be applying these methods in my upcoming builds.
Cheers

Looks great Raj!

I am so glad you enjoyed this one and learned something too at the same time.

That's what it's all about.

Some nice work so far guys! Here is my subject, a Stug IIIB, originally planned for Dragon OOB but now here. it will still be pretty much OOB, just a bit of added detail.

Adding the welds to the road wheels, gotta get some rod for the tubes now.

And hull progress:
