Hi
I use some Dragon's spare parts to my Sturmi, as they have more details. Also add more texture with Gunze 1000.

Nice result Tom. I´m currently sitting on the same kit. The Problem is, the more I dig in, the more seems to be wrong...
I´ve got the Eduard set, which often does simply copy Dragons mistakes. Together with Voyagers Smoke dischager (wich is crap) it´s far from a pleasure. But that happens if you try to kick one out with such old kits.
My last update seems to be quite some time ago... The whole treatment included so far all new welseams, Eduard PE, replacement barrel, Voyager Smoke discharger and various spares. Could have entered the whole hog campaign without any problem.
Hope to get the consturction done today, or at least til the end of the week. There is an awful lot of detail work missing.

Been a couple of weeks, but I do have progress to post.
Weathering is in progress, and I intend to have finished photos up in the next few days.

I'm going to come in right under the wire with this one. Almost complete photos:
A first pass with some pigment powder.
This is where it stands now. Not quite ready to declare myself finished, I feel it needs a bit more here and there but I don't want to go overboard. Honestly posting these photos is a big help as I see things in the photo I'm not sure I would ever notice looking at the model in life. I do have a couple of days though, plenty of time!

[quote]96 hours left and this is where I'm at
Base color and brown camo, still need to....
Feel like I'm in college again for an exam I failed to study for.]quote
@Chris; Speaking both as a long-time-ago student who woofed an exam now and again due to lack of timely prep and as a Professor who saw more than a few try that same late-start route... looks to me like you'll still maybe ace this one!
@Tom M and Brendan; I like those early StuGs! But somehow maybe I am missing something, here... No criticism being sent, but just curiosity belling the cat... Which way are those angled "boxes" with handles supposed to be on the left side of the casement? Attached, as on Brendan's build, or seemingly separate from the casement, as on Tom's? I thought that these were welded-on extensions of the casement, but... what do I actually know about these vehicles? Not much!
Bob
PS: I AM interested in this little feature, as I have one of these Dragon earlier-type StuG kits and wonder which way I might want to go!

Hi Bob,
They are actually screwed on, nence there shouldn´t be a gap there. You can see a detail pic of how it should look like in my post just above your´s. I thought they were welded on at first, but somebody restoring a StuG D brought me to the final clue. (you can see the attachement points
here (picture of the right side)) It´s shown in my references aswell, but you have to take a close look to spot it.
Dragons early StuGs (esp. the A) are not that nice to build, at least if you´ve got references nearby. That´s the reason I´m still struggeling with mine...
