Progress update on my StuG III Ausf. A:

Finished with glueing parts on. Halfway through the Spade Ace metal tracks. Tracks are looking good, a bit of flash to remove and the track pin holes require very little drilling to open.

VERY nice Vegard! I have a special place for the early StuGs with those short guns.

Thanks Jeff! I like the kit; it's easy to build and fits together pretty well.

Good one john and welcome to the StuG Factory! I have that kit and will love to see it get built right here!

And Sal, as long as our leader... the Great and Powerful Oz, er I mean... John has no problem with it, neither will I.

(And we won't hold it against you that it came for free from the Kitmakers Network. )

Ok guys as promised I made some more progress
I had to make some modifications to the rear of the gun and the bottom of the fighting compartment in order to get the top of the hull to fit
 photo P1090052.jpg
As you can see the cable length should be 10cm shorter buy being that this is a build review i followed the instructions
 photo P1090049.jpg
 photo P1090053.jpg
The rubber band DS track are very flimsy again
 photo P1090054.jpg
The schurzen is dry fit for now
 photo P1090055.jpg
and so is the top of the fighting compartment and road wheels
 photo P1090056.jpg

Nice one Richard! A beautiful Late StuG IV with schurzen too! I've never seen this kit before... nice! Are you painting it to match the boxart? Which looks great! I need to get a StuG IV myself soon. Maybe a Sturmgeschütz Brigade Build Campaign Part III next year?

Since my truck build is nearing completion I must decide. Do I want to finish the StuG kit I started in the first Sturmgeschütz Brigade Build Campaign (which really was the catalyst for this Campaign) or bash together a brand new kit? (this is the hard part... deciding)

So, any help? What should I do? I really want one of these ribbons!

Nice Stuggie, Colin! Looks like I'm just a small step behind you

I think I'll be trying out chipping on this model. Never done chipping on a kit before.

Thanks Vegard! Gee, yours looks pretty familiar... It would be nice if we could get a Stuggie 'ladder' out of this - A,B,C,D,E,F,&G models to show the progression.

That'd be cool. Do we have all variants in this campaign?

I painted the rotbraun layer on my Stug this morning:

Dunkelgrau painted on top of the Rotbraun color and did some chipping

First time using the chipping method and reasonable satisfied with the result. The Rotbraun color turned out to be a bit too bright, but that is easily fixed with additional weathering.
