Looking good guys! Here is mine, almost done, just finishing off the tracks, a couple more bits of detail painting and then pigments once the tracks are on. Running gear is just dry fit for now so, thats why the return rollers look a bit off kilter.

Great build, Colin. Looks very good with a dusty faded look to the panzer grey.

Hi
I seem to be going in circles. completed my Italeri Stug IV as a member of the 12 SS panzer Div in the Ardenne 1944. Now when I look at the order of battle for the 12th SS I don't see any Stugs being used. Am I missing something or was it a mess up by Italeri?
Cheers
Rob

I'm afraid someone a lot smarter than me can answer this. I can look it up but that may take some time.

If you fins any info with regards to the 12th SS please let me know, as I said I have look high and low and can find only limited info.
Cheers

That's too bad it's not working for you Rob. Kinda like the WHOLE website being down last weekend. That was frustrating.
I'm thinking of a THIRD Sturmgeschütz Brigade Build next year, maybe the same time but a bit shorter. (and maybe I'll finish that one) I'd like to see one with a 'twist' so if you guys see room for improvements, ideas or suggestions you'd like to see a Campaign do for YOU, then why my ears are open and my PM box is empty.

Currently have three stalled out builds on the bench, including two for campaigns here, so no better time to start a fresh build, eh?
This will be my entry:

Okay! But please note that this ends December 31st, 2014 and most likely will get no extensions!
Welcome aboard!

Thanks! I do appreciate the warning but I started this as a relatively quick and mostly out of the box build that I know won't get stalled in the painting stage as it will be solid grey.
I've done a fair number of these small Tamiya kits and have struggled quite a bit with the assembly/painting sequence. I believe I've come up with a pretty good method, though.
I've got a few parts superglued to the metal tub and masked for painting here:
I hit that with some primer, mostly because of the metal, and then some German Grey. At the same time, I clean up and assemble the road wheels, return rollers, idler and sprocket and hit those with a coat of grey as well. Then, I paint the tires black.
As soon as the tires are painted and dry, I'll glue to the hull and then start the tracks.

To One and All,
Finally, I have cleared off the workbench for this campaign and not a moment too soon! I am starting my build with the Trumpeter Stug IV in 1/72 scale.
It will be built mainly stock, but with some stowage and such. I currently have the lower hull done and the roadwheels cleaned up. Last night started on the upper hull.
I will post a progress shot here soon.
Thanks,
Stephen (Minas-Ithil)

Well, alright Stephen. Better get at it quickly!
I REALLY need to drag mine out (left over from the first StuG Campaign) and knock it out for that illusive ribbon.
I mean, I even bought some Friuls for it too!! What the he...

Well, some more progress.
Got the running gear attached to the chassis. I'm really glad Tamiya has dropped the metal hull tubs because they can be a real pain. Had to do some filing on a couple of the torsion bars to get the roadwheels mostly straight.
Tracks were tricky. I assembled each side in two runs, then mostly painted them, minus the general areas that would be glued. Once they were on, did some touch up painting, then a rusty wash.
Between waiting for paint to dry I've done some work on the upper half. Not glued at this point, but probably that will happen next.
The rest of the building should go pretty smoothly, wheels and tracks are always the most time consuming part.

Hi Robert,
This is always hard to say. I'm 98% sure that in Normandy '44, according to the documents, no any StuG was deployed with the 12th SS Pz.Div., despite the StuG was the most common type of german AFV on that battleground.
Then, going to the Ardenne, the situation is more confused.
Looking at reference docs and, of course, the order of battle, they don't have any StuG.
But we cannot be 100% sure due to the confusion at that time and the possibility to have recovered tanks from other units...
Regards
Giovanni
