I'm still thinking about what to build. I will say something from the early 1940's.

Hi guys

Some nice choices of kits for the campaign. Again, I would like to say thanks to all of you guys that voted for me in the first campaign, and thanks Ian (AK Interactive) for the prize. I'm sure there'll be plenty in the book to help me to improve my skill

Regards

It was well deserving, glad to hear the book made it safely to it's new home!

Keenan: Great choice! CMK has recently released two "Hue City" Marines that are also very well done if you are looking for more figures to add to your dio.

Brent: Looking forward to seeing what you come up with

Great choice Jose! 1/72 I presume? How have your braille scale armor builds been going?

Well Gang,
It's kickoff day for the campaign, and it is strangely quiet. So what is everyone doing for a project ? I had originally planned an F-8 Crusader, but it seems the Crusader is extremely popular suddenly. I might have to reconsider. At any rate, hope all are well into their work or pre-build reference search. take Care.............Bruce

I'm still in with the Academy Ontos. It may be a week or two before I get started.

Good morning dudes, I picked up this little kit for this campaign:

I was amazed at how full the box is, 3 weapon variation, rubber or plastic tracks, 5 figures and a full interior including engine.

As inspiration for the build I have this photo:

So If all goes well I will probably build the tank in the background aswell, the campaign is a year long afterall

My question to you pros now is does anybody know the model of tank in question? Is it an M48a3?

Cheers, good luck and have fun everyone!

I enlisted but didn't post! I'll be doing a Academy Ontos as well but the Ontos will be supporting Marines during the TET Offensive. It should prove to be interesting!! Have Fun!!!

Here is my project for this campaign, been wanting to build it for some time since it’s just been sitting in my stash of kits. I know that the M114A1’s never saw service in nam so I plan to back date the kit to the early variant given to the ARVN that had the pintle mounted .50cal and split commander’s hatch. Also some of my other host of goodies that I will be using for the build.

Missed the first one, but just enlisted in the second!
What a great idea and campaign this will be. And at a year long, shouldn't be a problem...

@Tristan- Great choice man!

Cheers

Tristan,
That is a M48A3. And great choice of a kit with the Academy M113.

Christopher,
Wow.

Thanks guys,
I got itchy fingers and cracked open the box last night. Not much to show yet as I only assembled the engine but I'll post some photos this weekend when I work on it some more.

Also thanks Alex for the clarification of the M48a3.

Christopher that is a serious pile of goodies you have there, will deffinitely be watching your build closely

cheers

Christopher, I somehow missed your presentation photo but man-O-man that look's like a formidable set-up! Nice.
I hang my head in shame as I have nothing from the Nam conflict save for the proverbial Monogram F4 Phantom in 1/48th. But who knows...
But I'm seriously considering a 'boots on the ground' dio now... Thanks for the inspiration!

Cheers Dave

Tristan, hopefully Dragon will have their M4A3 variant out within the year. Currently they just have the mod.B.

Christopher, that looks like a great dio project!

Dave, you have plenty of time to choose. You really can't go wro g with anything

Starter pictures for the Academy Ontos. I'm going to try to start this weekend or early next week. The kit looks to be pretty straight-forward. Given the timeframe, I might go with a base. I tend to stay away from action scenes so...something will come to mind.

@ IamTJones - looking forward to see the M113 being built, and hopefully the M48 as well

@ kruppw - nice collection there. Had my eyes on the M114 for ages but found it too pricey

@ bluestab - the Ontos will certainly be a nice kit to build

As for me, I've decided to go for MRC 1/35th UH1-C Heavy Hog, but instead of having M5 and M3 armaments, I'll be fitting it with Cobra Company's M6 weapon system (quad 60) and XM-157 rocket pods

More to follow soon

I had a really productive weekend at the workbench and managed to get caught up. I'll be starting on my Ontos this week...hopefully tonight. I think I am going to try to build it as one of the few equipped with the spotlight for night fighting. I haven't seen but one or two pictures of them and none of a close-up view of the light and mount. I figure it was a field mod so I'll be taking some artistic license with it.

So I sat down the other day and wanted to "get a start" on the M113...boy that escalated quickly!

This kit practicly glues itself together whilst you sip your morning coffee

Cheers
