hello guys,

A little progress on my french paras from Bravo6.
Close to completion.
I had to redo the thin lines on the backpacK. The paint on the frontpack messed up as you can see. This is what happen when you don't shake enough vigorously the enamel paint and/or when such paint is too old...
Best,
Julien

Engin,
Beautiful vignette that you made. Full of action, well balanced and the colors are even, no visual disruption. The jeep is also very well detailled.
Well done

Hi all,
This's my idea of a French Chaffee that presents in Hanoi about late '40s. Maybe I'll make a simple dio for this tank.

I'd added some details on my old model that based on some pics of M-24 at that time. Tracks are very thick and hard, so I don't know how to repair them now.

A coat of Mr.Surfacer for it...

Thanks for your watching and encouragements.

Hello fellows NAM Modellers,

here is my contribution for this campaign. Hopefully i will finish these Figures this time in time ;-).

It will be an little dio/vignette of an Australian SASR patrol making contact with the enemy in the dense jungle. Donīt know already how big it will be.

Here is the W.I.P status since yesterday.

Comments, and critic are always welcome.

Greetings

Hello,

Stefan nice to see more figures coming in !
Very nice haircut on the lying guy . What's the other standing guy supposed to do ? Throwing a smoke grenade ?
Looking forward your progress on these fellows.

Kangurou, Nice start for your project. Is it the Italieri model ? I've got one in my stash I always wanted to build, but armor stuff scare me

The spirit of VTSA I is back !!

Stefan- good job on BRAVO-6 figures. I think you already know B-6 has some Aussie sets but not action poses.
Julien- you may try adding matt varnish to old enamels. it worked on me

Hi Julien,

thanks for your comment. Yes the standing guy has an Smoke grenade in his left hand ready to pop off to mark the fire zone for the incomming Hunter/Killer Teams.

I will add typical canteens and special SASR ammo pouches for the rifles and grenade launcher to make them bad ass looking Australian SAS troopers. There will be two ore three more SAS Figures i thing and perhaps one dead VC.

Your work on that french Para Figure from Bravo-6 is excellent. I like a lot your painting skills you already shown at these two SEAL Figures before.

Have a nice day

Hi Engin,

thanks for your comment.Yes thatīs why i convert some U.S. Army Infantry Figures as Aussie SAS Figures. They fit perfect the gap to make some SAS, LRRP, Recon Marines etc. in action poses. The Bravo-6 SASR Figures are great like they are but not usuable for action poses. So thanks to Vladi that he makes these Rumble in Jungle Figures. They are perfect for conversions like mine.

Greetings

Stefan,

Thanks for your comment and explanations ! hornet heads add perfection to those two figures.
Engin: In fact I will strip off the paint with some nail polish and paint it again with some "trusted pot". If I use matt varnish I will add another layer of paint and I will definitively lose many details.
I'll try to finish him this week end.
Keep the good works flow !
Best,
Julien

Hi Stefan.

That rifle is not correct for Australian's in Vietnam. We used the LiA1 SLR IIRC. That is an American rifle isn't it?

From what I have read and seen photos of, the SAS used both the M-16 and the FAL in Vietnam.

Hi Warren,

tanks for your comment too,

the Australian SAS uses the M16-XM148 grenade Combo a lot.

It was the first time to get an rifle with grenade launcher.

Also M16/M203 and L1A1/XM148 Combos were used. They uses the xm148 with the L1A1 because so they had the powerful caliber of the 7,62mm in combination with an grenade launcher.

You will find some Photos were they use the M16/xm148 rifle in Vietnam. For this Weapon they have this Special twin ammo pouches for 2o round M16 magazines and larger pouches for the L1A1.

Have a look at this site i uses as Inspiration:

I agree, Vladi. This go around there seems to be more response than last time.

Everyone that has posted stuff so far is posting some excellent work. As a figure and diorama guy, the figures and dioramas spark my interest the most. It is nice to see Bravo 6 figures being used to create some excellent scenes.

Engin, I like what you have done with the Marines and the M151. Scene looks excellent and I am happy to see the shell casings on the ground beside the M60.

Julien, excellent camo pattern on your French Para.

Stefan, it is good to see you coming along with your SASR ideas. I like your conversions. That Hornet head that you have on the guy laying prone shooting the XM148 works really well with prone figures. It is the same head that I used on that prone figure I sculpted (except for the head and boots) when I was in Afghanistan. I wish Hornet would come out with some more heads that would work just as well for figures like that. His facial expression is just right.

I am currently working on a diorama of a platoon's HQ element checking in with the company CP after the platoon has finally made it into the company perimeter. So far I have a platoon sergeant, PLT RTO, and one other figure finished. I still have a few more to go. I might post some in-progress pictures a bit later.

To all of those who are working on projects still, keep up the good work. To those who have already completed projects, excellent job!

Cheers.

Brad: You can join anytime during the active session of the campaign, welcome to the tour!

Regarding your question about TOW, http://olive-drab.com/od_mvg_www_jeeps_m151.php
Enjoy!

Engin: Beautiful!

Richard: Did I ever mention that I love Skyraiders?

Julien: Outstanding figure work as always!
Would you ever be up for an online figure painting tutorial?
And FWIW, building armor is much easier than modding and painting figures, give it a try

Kanguroo: Great! All you would need is a small representation of the street surface.
Nice choice of markings

Stefan: Nice work on the arm! That soldiers face is really interesting sculpt as well.

Vladi: Great to see you here, thanks for dropping by!

Kanguroo, that Chaffee looks fantastic!! Good luck with the tracks!
I am tempted to join the campaign, but work on our HUE diorama is still very much "in progress".

Cheers

Romain

P.S.: that para looks a bit like a young Jean Reno, doesn't he!!

Hi all,

- Julien: Yes, it's a Italeri kit. Certainly, it's not equal to current Bronco, but this's my attempt to campaign.

- Stefan B.: Thanks. I'll try to the end.

- Jeremy Hengest: I'm seeking the street scenes of Hanoi at that time. Of course, it must be simple because I have no experiences in making dio.

- Romain: I also want to see your "HUE", although I'm living southern VN.

Sorry, I'm late in reply your comments. Good health,

Hi james,

good to see you here and thanks a lot for your nice words. The next days i will post some new Photos from the other Patrol members. Also i have added the left arm for the lying Figure and the weapon for the standing guy. The hornet head choice comes as inspiration by one of your Figures you shown me some time ago as you was in Afghanistan. This head is perfect for this.
Canīt wait to see your work here and the now hopefully finished Figures you show me. These were awsome. Your diorama sounds amazing and i am waiting to see the first photos here.

@Jeremy: thanks for you words i am still in work to get these finished.

All the best

Hello All,

Here are some pictures of the figures I have finished so far: Platoon Sergeant; RTO; Company Commander. Sorry about the not so great quality of the photographs. My camera isn't working as well as it used to. However, this gives you an idea of my progress on this project.

The Platoon Sergeant is based on one of the Bravo 6 "Take 5" figures with a Hornet head and many other details added. Notice that he has a CIB above his US Army strip and is wearing a 9th Infantry Division patch. This diorama is depicting on of those rare occasions where a 9th ID element is out on a patrol requiring rucksacks.

Next is the RTO which is built as an almost stock figure which is kind of rare for me. He was positioned just right and is the RTO from one of Bravo 6's "Platoon" series kits. I will add his M16 after he has been attached to the base.

The final figure for this installment is a conversion of an Accurate Armor UK Soldier. I added some definition to his rear and thigh pockets as well as changing out boots and adding a Hornet Head. This guy may be the Company Commander of the element in the diorama unless if I get a better figure to represent him before I complete the diorama.

In the works I have the Company RTOs - one setting up his long whip antenna and the other leaning back with a handset in his hand; a captured VC; a Kit Carson / Tiger Scout interrogating the prisoner; a Soldier of the platoon that is entering the perimeter; and the Platoon Leader. I will update with photos as I go along.

Take care and have a great day.
Cheers,
James
