Turret's done
A base coat of German Grey. I will let it dry, give a dark wash and then add the Dark Yellow.

Thanks, hopefully it turns out good, I have never built a Tamiya Viper but they are heavily regarded as the best in the model airplane world.
I was going to build a challenger 2, but I had this one just laying in the pile.
I made some more progress tonight, this kit is loaded with detail and the fit and finish is typical and what I have come to expect from a Tamiya kit. I guess I'm spoiled from their armor kits.

Nice job on that Falcon !
Here's my update, Dark Yellow coat over German Grey Base.
I will add the decals next then seal it off and add the jerrycans and weather it.
I still need to do the rest of the tank...

Nice start G , looking real good.
John, you could just put the turret on a stick and hide it
behind a sand dune in a hull down position
Looking good though John, what's the paint you've used?

I know Paul, but I still have time to finish the rest of the tank.
I used Tamyia's TS-4 German Grey & TS-3 Dark Yellow.

Hello all. There are some fast modelers here and great realisations.
Some progress on my M998.
Seats and dashboard from Tamiya
I beluit a bit the Tamiya part with styrene sheet. On the left, the original part of the passenger seat.
I built the internal face of the tailgate.
I have sand the bolts on armor plates because too small, wrong type and wrong positions. I replaced them with resin bolts from Masterclub.
This reference, 0,5 mm diameter
Both plates were exactly the same. It is wrong because bolts and square hole have a symmetrical place.
The front part with a wrong type of wiper !:-?
I cut them and have to rebuilt new parts. I add little details .

Sal, Looks nice. That's the old Italeri kit reboxed by Tamiya right? I built the original back in the 90s and was wondering what Tamiya added to this version.

Yes Alex that is correct, Tamiya added a weapons set spruce, different figures, rubber tires and a new decade sheet but the main kit still has that old Italeri quality to it

Sal well done my friend , you have made that golden oldie look real fine there .
I like the base work too, even though it's stolen from a Tiger
Thanks for playing along in the hot sand pit

Sal, For its age it still looks pretty good. I read your review. I can't believe that thing sold for $60. When I did mine I think I paid $15-18 for it at Hobbytown. I've seen the Italeri boxing listed at $38-42...which Italeri seems very proud of those old kits.
Still would like to see HobbyBoss bust out with a new Horch.

John looking mighty fine , those decals look painted from this angle .
I must also say I have never seen a tank built this way, first
the turret complete with weathering and then the hull .
It's sure odd my friend, or is just the fact that you have had enough of multiple parted running gear lately
G a fine and speedy build there , and good standard too .
You are going to put Sal and I to shame here, we have a reputation you know and it's slackening a bit of late
Thanks for playing along with us.
