Hey Alex, nice SU, I remember doing this exact model more than a dozen years ago, you are right, kits tracks are a dog...
Slowly getting somwhere with my IS-3
I had to make a little bulkhead so the upper hull would not bow down in the middle.
Basic construction of toolboxes done, each has 3 little bulkheads inside, they are quite sturdy.
Et voilà, upper hull glued. I've added 0,3 mm styrene shims to the sides of the glacis armor for better fit and to blank the empty space just behind the idler.
Here are the additional ventilation louver slots on the rear engine deck. Tamiya made 6 per side, while there should be 7 as on original tanks. They may have come out a bit wider than should be, I will see how that looks like after primer and maybe then try to improve their appearance.
And a test fit of the turret.
Cheers,
Greg

Nice work on the Tamiya IS-3. I want some toolboxes for my Trumpeter now!
Well, it's Saturday and time for some workbench blues to get these Soviet tanks finished.

More progress. Getting closer but still toning down here, adding a little there. Hope to finish up the wheels and tracks tonight and get the fenders on. Still have a few more things to do with the finish after that.

With only a coat of future, then a darker wash, the create track sag, that's all that is left on this KV-1E. So here are a few nearly-complete pics.

Calling this one finished. Still might go back one day and add on tow cables and maybe some stowage but for now and the foreseeable future, this KV-1E is finite. More pics posted in the Campaign Gallery. https://gallery.kitmaker.net/showgallery.php/cat/28634

Since we can use a kit that's already started, and I have a few ,I'm going to try and finish up this T-34/76 for this campaign. The suspension is assembled and that's about it. The hull halves aren't even secured yet. I've grown bored with the kits I've started for other campaigns. I have a hard time finishing them without breaks. Hopefully this one's far enough along that I can do it .

I like the darker color! Might make that my choice too for my MB Models kit.

No modulation, No scale effect...just good ol' Tamiya Nato Green straight up. I plan on light dusting too for better contrast

Very nice work Rick, I have that same flag and use it as a backdrop when I am selling Russian firearms, never thought to use it for my models but might have to start.

I have had that kicking around in the model room for over twenty years and was lust looking for something a bit nicer than my normal blue shop paper towel! Now I think I'll use it a bit more often as it makes a nice contrast.

Andrey those tracks should really make that kit a crowd pleaser.
I slapped on some oil paint dust wash and pigments. Waiting until light for things to dry so I can start dry pigment blending and touch up pin washes.

The weathering on Your Su-76i looks nice Greg. Maybe I will go for something similar on the BT. I have the build finished and gave it a layer of surfacer. It has been more chalenging than anticipated. The fit of the whole kit is bad and I had a few moments when I wanted to trash it. But its done now. Next on the program is paint.

Alright I am calling this one done!
Trumpeter's IS3, as mentioned earlier some issues with fitting, but otherwise a decent kit with nice details.
I used Tamiya's Olive green, a mixture of earth and buff for weathering, and brushed on some grounded-up pastel chalk dust.
Cheers!
Lawrence

Hey Andrey, nice looking T-26! I'd be curious to know how well the friul tracks fit with the sprocket wheel.
Cheers,
