Finally got around to cracking open the box and getting a start on my build:



Yet another kit I picked up in a Tokyo second-hand store. This looks like it will be a surprisingly complex build for such a tiny vehicle, but I guess that's DML. Should be hours of fun in this box.

Nice choice, Mark. I am finally getting ready to start my build. The Wehrmacht 1947 anti aircraft walker in 1/48 scale. The kit comes partially pre assembled, so I will take it apart to clean up the parts and then reassemble before painting.

Hello! I'm late to the game but very excited to start a DML 88 that's been in my stash for 8? years.

Lots of great work on here, It's been fun to catch up with everyone's builds.

So much fun, that I took the first picture on Friday and work a lot over the holiday weekend.

This kit is absolutely amazing. It's really a treat to put the million (500+) pieces together, and then see how they all fit perfectly, and how much of it can move.

Looks nice, Steve. I love 88s.

Steve, that's a very nice build of what I remember to be a somewhat fiddly kit.
The plastic ends of the metal pistons being a tight fit and needing to be filed out to move. Also the meshing of my gears was really loose and the gun would not stay at elevation.

Did you have either of these problems? It might well have been my 'all thumbs' building style to blame as well.

Perfect model building weather!

All coming down as rain here on the coast.

Anyway, made some real progress over the last couple weeks to the point that I've got primer on and I'm ready to start putting on some paint.

Overall, this is a fantastically detailed and well-constructed kit, the complexities of Dragon instructions notwithstanding. There were some very fiddly, finicky bits to work with, but the only outright problem I found with the kit is the 1mm gap between the upper glacis and the lower armor for driver's compartment. Not sure how Dragon messed that up so bad. I know it's 1mm exactly because a piece of 1mm square styrene fills the gap perfectly:



If you still see a gap it's only because I've simply laid the armor plat on for the photo. Won't be glued in place until after I paint the interior.

Jeff, good excuse to stay indoors and build models. Hope you keep power and heating.

Strange gap on the Pz. I. The obvious solution is of course to put in the plastic card to fill the gap, but weird that Dragon would make such a mistake.

A little Progress on my 88mm flakvierling in 1/48 from the Dust Tactics universe. Airbrushing underway. A white splinter pattern is next.

FINALLY.....this is the 3rd or 4th group build I have started and 1st one that I actually completed on time@!
It is on the wood base to see if it is large enough. Add some sand and a plaque for name and it will be totally complete.
The Vulcan (M113-based) is still in works after I finish another group build (500+).

Have natural gas for heat - all underground, but do need electricity to circulate warm air. Luckily the weather service made an error and the weather straight from rain to snow and skipping the freezing rain.
