I have finished my build for this campaign. The 1/48 Dust Tactics 88mm flak vierling.
A great build and aggressive looking.

Thanks, Guy. Sometimes it is fun to do these "what if" vehicles.

Jesper,

An impressive system. Really like the look of the cannon, really look like they are made of metal.

Nice build!

Great thing about those what-if builds is the rivet-counters stay pretty quiet!

Got the tracks on both sides. Wheels and sprockets are only dry fitted so everything comes off for painting once the tracks have set up overnight.

Looks good, Guy. I want to try the method of removing the whole track side next time I make a tank.

Sal, Nice progress. Really interesting look of the furniture van looking forward to see it with some color.

Looking good Sal!

Jesper, once I learned the method for track all the pain went away for doing indy tracks.

Sal, I think you are right about the barrel. Maybe repaint the barrel in a dark gunmetal and then add a medium gun metal highlights. Gun barrels are normally almost black unless they are very worn.

I would also give the tracks a very worn silver on the raised parts that touches the ground.

On the empty shell catching mesh I would also paint that dark yellow. I do not think it should be black.

Hope this is helpful. Looking forward to see more

Probably also going to want to show more damage to the paint on your mangled fender. Anything that would have messed up the fender that bad would have trashed the paint job pretty thoroughly.

Looking good, though!

Hi,

Congrats your finished Flak, Sal.

Three kits for three campaigns started at same time. And the JGSDF air-defended Type-87 is chosen for this campaign.

Sincerely,
K.

Started painting. I'm going with the scheme in the instructions. Original 4BO green below the fender line, and German 3 color cammo above. I looked at pictures of this vehicle and couldn't find any with markings so this one will be plain with regards to crosses or unit markings.

I see some splatter I'll need to clean up too. Darned pictures show every flaw!

Hi all,

I am in with the Meng's Shilka.

Going with the MZ variant. Looks like a sweet kit. I tried cleaning and fitting 2 track links. The fit is tight and strong considering there is no glue involved.

@Jesper - Holy !

@Sal - Nice work, I like the cameo.

Guy, you are right. Photos bring out all the flaws for some reason! Your build looks really good though. Looking forward to see it progress.

Thanks for the comment, Nathan. Cool choice of kit. I always wanted to build a Shilka, but do not even have one in the stash.
BTW: cute baby

OK guys, calling this one done. My first kit after moving back to the states! Some things I would do differently if I ever did this one again, but overall very happy with how it turned out. Thanks for a fun campaign.
